I love hearing about all these naming traditions. Tonto K, I didn't know about that particular southern tradition, though I lived in Kentucky for many years. I personally like the name Wallace. I think it's a really elegant name!

And thoakun, yes! My mother has dropped the hint that my father would perhaps like my maiden name as part of the name. I was thinking that could be doable as my madien name is also used as a first name (though usually with another name).
My mother gives such great Vietnamese name. My twin nieces Viet names are Thi An and Linh An. It makes me sad they don't use those names very much, because they're so beautiful.
