This was the story of a girl, Tanya Savicheva, who died in Leningrad during WWII.

Reading a bit about her and the siege of Leningrad - maybe you guys can call me uptight but I dont really see the vision of romanticizing the idea of her for a skating program.

I dont think its a big deal, but I dont get it. It seems off.

Google says Russian so you can blame them instead of Gumennik.

However it seems he did self-identify as Ukranian, perhaps out of taste indeed.

Why would he? Malevich was born in Russian Empire and live in Soviet Union.
