Tickets can be bought now :)
For public? Where from? I don't see anything on ticket sites...

Edit: Never mind, I found it:
http://www.francebillet.com/place-s...age-artistique-TROPHEE-ERIC-BOMPARD-BOMPA.htm

Looks like only the most expensive "gold" tickets are on sale for now.

I note that francebillet.com only offers me "pick up from a shop", no option to print tickets myself -_-
There seems to be a such a shop in Bordeaux not far from the rink though.

By the way, two years running, I have regretted buying front-row seats for TEB. Last year in Bordeaux our seats were great for seeing skaters up close, as they entered and exited the rink...but should really have been advertised as "restricted view" on account of the dirty great TV camera that obscured a significant area of the rink... the people who open and close the rink gate sitting/standing right in front of us... and occasional coaches roaming up and down in front of us.

I have not bought front row seats this time...!

You can also buy category 1 and category 2, but these are open seating (unlike last year!)
Aha. So that's why we can't select them on the map...

I wonder what is the thinking behind that?

Maybe because last year, stewards insisted on escorting everybody to their allocated seats. I've never seen this anywhere else and I don't know why they did it... do people routinely try to sit in other people's seats, start fighting over them and stuff?! Anyway, this resulted in queues of people still waiting to be seated, for some time after competitions had already started... but I guess that needn't happen again if there are half as many tickets with seat numbers...?

Apart from the price, what is the difference between the category 1 and category 2 tickets? Because the map doesn't make it clear - it only shows where the Gold seats are.

Even though it is open seating, I would assume that how much you pay determines what area of the rink you can sit in. Otherwise, why would they have the 2 different prices?

Also, what is the area labelled PMR? Is that where the judges are?

Finally, do we have an idea of what the schedule is going to be yet? I'm just curious as to why Friday's tickets are so cheap.

I would have assumed the schedule was going to be roughly the same as last year (Practice on Thursday; Shorts on Friday; Frees on Saturday; Gala on Sunday).

But if it is Shorts on Friday this year, then a flat €8 to see everything seems a bit low. Especially when you compare it to the prices for Saturday afternoon (€55 / €35 / €20); Saturday evening (€55 / €35 / €20); and Sunday afternoon (€65 / €40 / €25).

Not that I'm complaining if that is the case, of course! ;)

You can tell I've never been to a skating competition before, can't you!

If you look at the map, I think the seats with the big number 2 will be category 1. So they are just a little bit higher than gold seats.
All others seats will be category 2 I guess.
They will probably be staff to prevent you from going to category 1 if you have a category 2 ticket.

PMR is for wheelchairs.
I don't remember where the judges were last year, sorry.

The schedule will be about the same as last years. Short programs will be on Friday. Short programs are always very cheap :)

That is the side the judges were on last year. The last two TEB competitions at least, judge-side tickets were not sold to the public (you had to be a VIP, member of a French skating club etc to get those seats -_-). And it looks like the same this year.

Again, this is the same as at least the last couple of years - yes, it really is that cheap! I don't know why. Maybe Friday afternoons are difficult for French people, or just not a popular time, or they have little interest in the short programs?

Just wanted to buy some tix also but only for the Friday sessions (price is the same as last year) as for Saturday and Sunday only the most expensive ones are available at this moment, but I stopped as the website says to pick them up in some kind of shop. Hopefully that will change to homeprint asap. Francebillet is the seller where Ticketmaster France was last year the seller and maybe they have different ways of selling tix.

See Solene's post above - you can buy the Category 1 and 2 tickets now, as well as the "gold" ones.

But it's confusing because you can't select the seats in those areas on the map - because they are "open seating" this year.
(ie. get there early. And run, once you're inside! ;-D)

Yes, a nuisance having to go to a shop to collect tickets, and I don't really like getting on a plane without the tickets already in my possession. But there is a shop not very far from the rink where they can print your ticket. Just remember to bring the ticket details, the credit card you used to pay for them, and proof of ID...!

thankx for the info. just managed to buy my tix also. with this change of policy I guess that they don't escort you to the seatingplaces anymore as it is free seating but they will block the walking of people from Gold to 1 or 2 and the other way round. That's a pity because last year I bought lowest ticketfares but was able to walk around everywhere and also able to stand next to the K&C which is situated one level up from the ice. I live in Holland so picking up tix is over there. what is the nearest store from the venue? my hotel is also very near Patinoire Mediadeck. looking forward to my second Bordeaux visit.:cheer:

Hello everybody :)

Thank you so much for all the info! This will be my first TEB and I'm very excited!!

Before buying the tickets, I have one question. Does anyone know where the Kiss & Cry will be?? Or where it was last year?? Looking at the map, above or below??

Thank you very much ^_^

There is a map showing the sales outlets on the francebillet.com site - At the bottom of most pages, are a load of links. One is "Points de retraits" or "Sales outlets". Click on it and zoom into the map where Bordeaux is in south-west corner of France. Nearest shop to the rink is:

CARREFOUR MKT CADERAN FERRY
172 RUE JULES FERRY
33021 BORDEAUX CEDEX
Horaires d'ouverture: du lundi au samedi: 8h30 - 20h00 (open Mon-Sat 8:30am - 8:00pm)

In the town centre there is also:

FNAC BORDEAUX LAC
Centre Commercial Auchan
Local 147
Quartier du Lac
33080 BORDEAUX LAC
Horaires d'ouverture : Lundi au samedi : 10h à 21h (open Mon-Sat 10am - 9pm)

(By the way, for some reason - on my screen clicking on the map markers, pops up the shop details in white text on a white background. I had to drag the mouse to select/highlight the text to see it!)

Last year, it was on the top level of the arena and the skaters had to take the lift to get there. You couldn't even see it from the seats in the lower parts of the arena. Looking at this year's seating map, it was the area at the top. (map is the other way up to last year!).

However, I heard they intend to make some changes this year - so maybe they will make it rinkside this year?

If so - it could conceivably be at the other end of the rink - there seemed to be plenty of room there, but it was curtained off last year (I suspect that's where the stage is, when they have concerts etc. And the zamboni came out of that area). But then I guess they'd have to change where the skaters enter/exit the rink, re-organise all the backstage areas etc? So maybe not.

Edit: Looking at last year's map and a few other sources - it seems that the area that was curtained off, is actually permanent arena seating. So I'm guessing it's more likely the kiss and cry will be at the same end as last year, no matter which level it's on. (ie. area at the top of the francebillet.com seating map)

Can anybody recommend a hotel near the rink? Last year, we stayed at a small boutique hotel in the centre of town but this year we want something closer to the arena. Thank you!

We actually witnessed this last year at TEB. Two women kept trying to poach better seats and security had to escort them to their assigned seats (twice). After the second time, they stopped trying as they knew they were being watched. Also saw an argument between people who had gone to the washroom and returned to find their allocated seats taken by people who thought they had left. Fun times!

There is an Ibis hotel about 350m down the road from the rink, we stayed there last year.

Hotel Ibis Bordeaux Centre Meriadeck
35 cours du Maréchal Juin

Nothing fancy, but no complaints. Wasn't quite as convenient as we thought, since we generally had to walk into the town centre to buy food/water before heading back to the rink. (For those who didn't go last year - there is not much in the way of food/drink inside the arena or nearby... but there are some excellent sandwich/pastry/etc shops and stalls in the town centre).

There is also the Hotel Mercure which is a little bit further away than the IBIS but still quite close - the skaters stayed there last year. Might be tough getting a room there though, since I guess lots of people will have already booked - in the hopes that skaters will be there again this year.

Hotel Mercure Bordeaux Centre
5 Rue Robert Lateulade
33000 Bordeaux

It looks closer to the town centre, so it might be more convenient for visiting shops before heading to the rink, and for restaurants at lunchtime and evening.

Haha! Perhaps that explains it then :-D

Well, I can kind of understand people taking seats that are clearly not being used... but what kind of people would argue with the rightful occupants, if they show up, or come back from the toilet?! o_O
