Higuchi, Sotskova and Sakhanovich  This is going to be very interesting, but I guess they will change entries.

YAY. He must be recovering from his injury nicely for him to get a JGP!! Surprised to see Liu/Johnson since she's injured?

Have been posted: http://www.isuresults.com/events/fsevent00051633.htm

-----

I'm not going to bother reposting the entries here as it seems Russia just put their strongest skaters as the entries and everyone else as a sub. There is pretty much no chance Sotskova and Sakhanovich skating at the same event.

With all due respect, there are other competitors besides the Russian Ladies. :) I'll go ahead an post!

True, but if people actually take Russia's entries seriously we could see a lot of substitutes.

Higuchi vs. Sotskova vs. Sima sounds awesome, but I wonder if they're going to shift one of them into an easier event? Also interested in Choi...

Ooh, I'm so excited that Anna Grace Davidson got a JGP! I loved both of her Nationals programs, and she looked really strong (she was 4th in Novice this year), so this makes me really happy...even if she gets destroyed :slink: Obviously that would be bad, but...at least she's getting out there!

Also, I think Bradie Tennell would have a shot at the bronze if one of Wakaba, Serafima or Maria wasn't there...but they are. So...*huffs* nyeeeh.

I HOPE they're gonna change them; otherwise, it would be wasting precious points for all of them!

Hopefully they send one Sima,Masha, or Wakababy to Colorado Springs!!!!!

Wakababy?

Eh, what the heck, I like it! :laugh2:

Also, I've never understood why most of the Russian ladies named Maria end up being called Masha. Could somebody please explain this? It just doesn't make sense to me, as somebody with absolutely no knowledge of Russian except the word turtle. (It's черепаха, or cherepakha. Why I know this and nothing else is very strange.)

yyyskates coined the phrase Wakababy! She is a huge fan of her so it's meant to be cute and cuddly I think.

Masha = Maria in Russian the same way William = Bill in English. Do we even know why James = Jim. Now I'm beyond curious. My guess is they are just less formal ways to communicate.

I like all their nicknames!!! Sasha, Zhenia, Masha and Sima. We were so confused with Julia not having one we had to go and throw in Yulia even though to this day I just write both depending on my mood and the situation.

The same reason as in the UK/USA Elizabeth is called Liz, and Vivian Viv, and Robert is called Bob and in Russia Alexander or Alexandra are Sasha and Evgenia is Zhenia...it is just home version (nicer and less formal version) of the name.

Sotskova has stated on her ask.fm that she is going to Riga and Austria as her jgp events. So that's the 2nd and 4th events.

http://ask.fm/Mariya_ice

I don't seem to find this kind of information? There is a person who asks "Did you get Austria and Spain?" and she says "No, not these"; then there's a person who is from Latvia and apparently knows that she'll be going to Riga and asks if she/he could give her a present there and she says "sure", which kind of approves that Masha will be in Riga, but I can't find any proof of the fact that she's going to Austria?

She deleted the answers. Maybe she herself had false information? Dunno.
