After winning Japanese Sectional Championships 2015, Narumi Takahashi / Alexandr Zaboev had to split due to financial reason.
It seems they could not get a sponsor to support after Sectionals 2015 and couldn't afford a full time coach according to Zaboev's facebook.

I was not even aware that they were teamed up. However, I found it hard to believe that they could not find a sponsor, considering Narumi is the best pair skater Japan has. Maybe corporate sponsors won't sponsor non Japanese citizens.

I think the biggest mistake Narumi made was splitting with Mervin Tran. They were something special together.

No, the breaking point was when she split with Ryuichi Kihara. They could have taken a year off to improve, being both Japanese skaters, JSF would have taken the time and finance to help them, with a foreing skater they weren´t going to bother
