Surprisingly Davankova/ Shibnev looks good. Needs more speed but their elements twizzles/spin/lifts looks pretty strong. At this point they still look tentative thou but promising.

I think there was news that they left Kustarova's group (or were kicked out), but I don't have any details about it.

I am surprised that the coaches didn't find a better partner for Zhuk. Zhuk seems to be landing all her jumps whereas Britkov never seems to manage any. Besides, he is quite small for a jbloke, so if she grows, there will be problems with lifts. Luckily, at the moment Zhuk is quite a small girl, but will she remain small in the future?

I have seen all their competitions from last season and I am pretty sure he never had a somewhat clean competition jump-wise and multiple times he had multiple errors or falls in one competition. He is by far the most unstable jumper among pairs who are pretty good or better. I had hoped she would have had a new partner this season but obviously that didn't happen. well, hopefully she will have a new partner next season because she has star qualities.

For as long as he's not throwing her into boards or dropping her off lifts he will do. They're both still learning, and pairs this young are never set in stone. On a bright side, this program of theirs is just beautiful.

They were good quality junior pairs programmes. The older SP suits B/s much better, they really match the power of the music, she is struggling slightly with the jumps but that is understandable after her illness. A very elegant and stylish skate by Z/B, I agree with others he is very unstable on the jumps but everything else is really good. I have been impressed with B/K since they debuted on the JGP and made the final, for a relatively new pair they are very impressive, she tends to two foot the throws but again everything else is impressive.

I never heard of K/S in fourth but they gave my favourite performance. Nice choice of music, simple but effective costumes and very good on the elements. I really liked the step sequence, they stopped at the end of the rink as if finished and then kicked off again. The 2A was the final element. I would have given them a few more marks but everyone is very close so it's all to play for.

They are a new pair. She was a single skater until this season, he was already a pair skater but not very competitive. They have already competed a couple of times and they were at the Panin Memorial where they placed 3rd. Their SP was much better this time. She is born in 2002 and he is born in 1999. They are coached by Alexei Sokolov who is the coach of Ustimkina/Volodin among others.

She will be JGP eligible next season and I would really prefer she would do her debut with a better partner.

He really struggles with jumps. Alright, he may not pose risk to her health by dropping her from lift or throwing het into the board, but the goal of pair skating isn't just to survive. The goal is the skate their best and if possible, win the competition. Next season she will be junior eligible, but if they get GP event (and that's not certain because they have some pretty good juniors), his jumps will be spoiling her results.
Some junior pairs made a huge progress this season. Poluyanova/Selkin were not that great during their GP event (to be fair they were a newly formed pair), but at this Russian cup they managed to beat Ustimkina/Volodin.
Another pair, Osipova/Gallyamov, have been pretty consistent this season and getting decent scores, so they may be considered for JGP spot too. Considering that there is only 12 spots, which can mean six pairs getting two spots if they all deliver, there will be real fight for those spots. So if Zhuk wants to get JGP events, she really can't afford to have a partner who is regularly messing up.

She may not have her debut. If there is six better junior pairs and all of them deliver at their first event, there won't be spots to give her. And at the moment I would say there is six pairs that are better.

They are most definitely not among TOP 6 or even TOP 8 junior pairs at the moment but there is plenty of time until next JGP season. I am confident that she would make the JGP team with a right partner. She most likely will not make it if she will continue to skate with her current partner.

I love your optimism, but if his jumps were bad last year and are still same bad now, I don't think that's something that will be fixed by next season. If it was that easy to fix it, it would have been fixed it by now. So even if they work hard to increase their TES, the jumps will be dragging their marks down. They would get away with it a few years ago, but now quite a few junior pairs have at least one triple.

But I agree with you that with a better partner, she would definitely have a chance. What about Kuznetsov, how were his jumps? He could still be available.

I have never been optimistic about Britkov's jumps and because of that I have hoped for a long time that she would start to skate with a better partner. The problem is that they live and train in Yekaterinburg and there are no better partners. She would have to move either to Saint Petersburg or to Moscow, or maybe to Perm which would be the closest option. Anyway, her parents might feel that it would be too big of a step to take at this stage.

Or, she could import him. No reason why she would be the one who has to move. The male partner is usually the older one so he (whoever it is) may be old enough to move. By the way, Kuznetsov is in Perm...unless they already found a partner for him.
