Russian Fed has some tough choices ahead.

JGP candidates for next season.

Aleksandra Boikova / Dmitrii Kozlovskii
Amina Atakhanova / Ilia Spiridonov
Alina Ustimkina / Nikita Volodin
Elizaveta Zhuk / Egor Britkov
Daria Kvartalova / Alexei Sviatchenko
Lina Kudryavtseva / Alexander Simenenko
Daria Pavlyuchenko / Denis Khodykin
Anastasia Mishina / Alexander Gallyamov
Ekaterina Borisova / Dmitry Sopot
Anastasia Poluianova / Maksim Selkin

Some of these pairs might split up during summer and also a totally new pair can emerge before test skate event but in any case there will be plenty of very good pairs available for the Russian Fed to choose from.

So, it seems Borisova/Sopot and Poluianova/Selkin have splitted up and Poluianova/Sopot have teamed up.

I guess Sharovs published videos from the last competition of this season. No info about scores, but videos are here. A few girls I very liked. :)

Osipova has teamed up with Vlad Tarasenko who is new to pair skating. Too bad that Tarasenko only has one JGP eligible season left. Anyway, they will train with the same group with Boikova/Kozlovskii who are coached by Minchuk.

I was hoping that she would team up with Selkin. That could be a succesful pair. Starting from zero when a male is the one new to pair skating means that they probably won't be that great for at least a year, maybe longer.

It seems Sokur/Pleshkov has also split up.

According to rumors Pleshkov's new partner is Anna Kaportseva. I am not sure how her name is spelled because I couldn't find her on Fskate.ru.

Also, according to rumors Borisova is currently skating with Selkin but they haven't officially teamed up yet.

Nastia Mishina has hinted that Mirzoev is currently skating with a new small lady but what I saw she didn't tell who his new partner was. Does anybody know with whom Mirzoev is skating? They probably haven't teamed up yet but it would be interesting know anyway.

I don't think there is anything wrong with the spelling. I checked all skaters from the letter K and there was no Anna K that could possibly be the one. Either she has never competed and that's why she has not been created yet, or the name is completely wrong.

Rumors say his new partner is Daria Gubina but this is just a rumor. If they would team up they would be JGP eligible next season but I doubt they would make the team. By the way, their age difference is rather big and because of that they wouldn't be able to compete internationally in season 2018-19 because she wouldn't be senior eligible and he wouldn't be junior eligible.

Big age difference is not that rare within Russian pair skating. Antipova/Maisuradze had a big age gap, Pavlova found for Zakroev (22) several 13 year old girls (I know about two or three he tried within the last two seasons, although it seems that none of them worked out long term), Miroshkin is skating with Yugai who is also eight years younger. For me the issue is not the age difference as such, for example, I have nothing against 8 years difference between Astakhova and Rogonov. If they are both adults and senior eligible, I feel fine with it. However, when pairing a guy who is just about to move to seniors (or have already moved to seniors) with 13/14 year old girl, I believe that's wrong. Not every 13/14 year old girl is technically ready to move to seniors. Being forced to move up then suddenly places unrealistic expectations on her being able to match her level of skating to his, while he had seven or eight extra years to get to that level. It can be such a pressure that the girl may end up like Antipova. The girl misses on the opportunity to proggress at the tempo she needs and compete at the junior level. Suddenly she is thrown among the seniors and expected to cope.

On 29.5. there will be a meeting from Moscow federation where they will be discussing transfers of skaters to different coach or different federation, and decide who will be on the Moscow team. It is not the main Russian team, it is only the skaters skating under clubs in the Moscow's area, but usually it gives us plenty of information. For example, last year we found out from the write up that Khaliavin would skate for Spain, several skaters were going to skate for Israel and some other countries.
