If I had to pick a classic rock tune that would be ideal for a skating routine, I think Dream On by Aerosmith would be incredible.
This season Manta and Johnson skate their FD to Dream On. The program was choreographed by Christopher Dean and it's really great. Unfortunately fans didn't have many possibilities to see it. As far as I know only the performance from Lake Placid International is available on YT. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tXDmC2zZaK8

Has anyone ever skated to "Stairway To Heaven?" I think that song would make a great program.

Plushenko in 2011. Scorpions May be I May be you. Samarin skates to this music too, in this year.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s72Z7l9_CgU - I don't like this exhibition, Plush skated it once. The choreographer was a 17 y. old girl, Marina is a dancer not skater.

Rock and metal are my absolute comfort zone!!!!!! I would be delighted to see and hear more Zeppelin routines so hats off to Carolina for her brave and avant garde choice of Bonzo's Montreux, which is one that wouldn't have been top of my suspect list for a skating routine.

If I had to pick a classic rock tune that would be ideal for a skating routine, I think Dream On by Aerosmith would be incredible. It's epic and sweeping and with plenty of highs for a skater to punctuate with a jump or flourish. I'd also love if someone skated to any of the rock covers done on Spanish guitar by Rodrigo y Gabriela - they're incredible.

I'd also love to see a skater leave a comfort zone and go to rock for inspiration. For example, I'd love to see my Elena tear herself away from predictable and dog-awful ballads or warhorses and go for something nobody would expect. Somebody with little to lose and seeking a new direction could do well to choose the rock route.

"Dream On" Ryan Bradley: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aLtd5v5ERtw There are also better versions of this where he did it at nationals exhibitions but I cant find it right now.

Wow, you and your husband rock!!! I can't believe there's another Porcupine Tree fan on the forum! They're my undisputed all time favourite band! (Username is giving it away, if you're familiar with them. ;)) Well, I'm actually a certified Steven Wilson nerd to be more precise. The man is just so versatile and a downright musical genius. Would never miss a concert when he's playing in my area (and have also been travelling for his gigs).

"Even less" is a great track! There are so many gems, but the PT song I keep coming back to the most is "Buying new Soul" from Recordings: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J9TsuT_AnIw

What's your favourite album? I'm still deeply in love with "Fear of a blank planet", "Deadwing", "Lightbulb Sun" and "Up the Downstair" - all brilliant in their vastly different eclectic ways!

I think there might be some skateable music in Steven's backcatalogue, though it would be impossible to condense the proggy stuff down to 4-4:30 minutes and most of the heavier songs are probably just a tad bit too edgy. But some of PT's lighter rock tracks could work quite well. Maybe an edited version of "Trains"?

Oh, and please don't be shy to post more frequently from now on! There are people, who enjoy reading in depth opinions. (I certainly do) :)

I am also Porcupine Tree fan, so you can count me in. :) I think that Trains could make a nice skating program ;) Not really digging Wilson's solo work though unfortunately :(

This is one of their lighter (no growling) songs but I think Opeth's Face of Melinda would be nice to skate to. It's probably a bit too slow but you could splice in some parts from around the 5 minute mark. Also around 6:40 would be nice for a step sequence.

Oh yes :luv17: Or In My Time of Need even if it's bit slow too. Maybe single cut of Burden would be appropriate too.

Yes, Stars on Ice used it in 1998. If I find video of it I'll post the link. :)

You know what song I just heard. "Waiting For tonight" by Jennifer Lopez. Believe it or not, it was on Will and Grace. It's not deep enough for a Senior Lady. However, I bet Starr Andrews could do a nice job with it. There's also a Russian Junior who's name I can't remember that would be great as well. Of course, it's not really metal....:slink:

Ho Jung LEE / Richard Kang In KAM are using "Stairway" (and a bit of "Kashmir") as their Free Dance music this season.

Here are my thoughts from when they performed it at the Asian Games last month:

(I included far too many emoticons to be able to quote the posts here!!!)

All the videos on YouTube have the audio removed. But, here is a Daily Motion video of their FD at Four Continents:

Has any woman every skated to Janis Joplin? She was a rock goddess. She must have some cool stuff to work with, I'll look for a song.

Yuka Sato once had a pro program to 'Summer Time' by Joplin. Couldn't find the program on it's own, but it's in this video of the full GWG competition and begins at 36:47 minutes:

I'm getting ready to go to the ballet with my life long friend, Tiffany. We've been friends since the 80's when we were both in High School. We always said that we were going to do a duet to "White Wedding" By Billy Idol....:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AAZQaYKZMTI

I was think that Alexa and Chris or Chock and Bates could do wonders with this song....
