About time!!

Though the Ontario ice dancers need assignments now too. McIsaac/Graham, McCue/Clemente, Han/Lochhead at the minimum.

Interestingly the English international assignments page is giving me an error. It doesn't exist anymore and isn't available in the drop down menu either.

Now I am wondering - where are WeaPo making their debut??

I think it's been moved. I found it by looking at the Next Gen page and clicking on Events and International Assignments (you can get there from the National team page too)

Thanks SnowWhite & 4everchan! Here is the new link to the international assignments page (really, a tab now): https://skatecanada.ca/2017-2018-event-schedule/#tab-31263c319f20cf01436

Well now, if you're a fan of Canadian ice dance then you should get your butt down to Montreal for ACI because the entire podium is going to be there.

Considering the line up they probably wanted Patrick at this event too but then that would have been too much excitement for the fans. Sorry 4everchan you miss getting to see him skate in your city. But Nebelhorn shouldn't be so bad. It's going to be feature skaters from many countries vying for an Olympic spot.

Also, High Performance Camp starts on August 30: https://twitter.com/twofortheice/status/900789042144530432

When the site was updated with nebelhorn there was no aci line up. It would have been bittesweet but not harsh. I am ok now.

Mango Last year, Skate Canada sent their A team to Finlandia in preparation for worlds.... and it does look indeed like they tried to do this at ACI this year... However, whether or not Patrick was involved in the decision, I can totally see why he would prefer to skip Yuzu and Javi that early in the season.... especially considering Yuzu is there with old programs. Momentum can be everything in an Olympic season and I think it's very smart for Gabby and CHiddy to go at other events....

I also think that the Ice dance comparison is a great idea.... having all 3 teams there, considering that the pecking order could change or not depending on programs and readiness is a great advantage in preparation of Nationals and then, the team event. It's like a bootcamp for Canadian dance. I LOVE IT.

I am very happy that I will get to see D/R in their last year as well and I love their Muse.

I am only going for the LPs but I am sure I will have a much better time than last year with such a roaster... WOW.... It was good last year but it's even better this year....

The very engaging Boys-Eddy sibs' vlog [video blog] provide a skater's point of view on the National Summer Series...

Really thrilled that the Boys-Eddys have received a JPG assignment...:cheer:

Yes, they have some things to work on, but great potential, with some senior level pairs elements and three years to go of Junior eligibility.

They've already improved so much in the short amount of time I've been watching them. Like, they used to make little mistakes all the time. Now they're smooth with hiccups on the new elements they're putting in (expected). I'm happy for them. This should help with motivation and confidence too.

Our ice dancers put up a good fight today. It's still early season for Lajoie/Lagha, you can tell. Natalie & Bruce also got a violation of choreography restriction so they'll be looking to make some SD changes. (I see at Minto they did have 2 of 5 judges flag that.) Videos/results:

Marjorie Lajoie / Zachary Lagha - 58.55 (TES 30.10 and PCS 28.45), 2nd
Natalie D'Alessandro / Bruce Waddell - 47.70 (TES 26.30 and PCS 22.40, -1.00), 6th

SD protocols

All that said, I really hope next season Skate Canada moves up their NSS so that skaters headed to the 1st JGP have time and breathing room to do two NSS events.

Late edit:

Tough skate for Joseph. Things just didn't work out and he missed the podium by <2 points. He'll be better in Zagreb, just wait for it. :)

Joseph Phan - 114.37 (TES 51.45 and PCS 64.92, -2.00), 7th; total 183.67, 4th

As TGee mentioned in another thread Aurora put out a gritty skate despite a music issue to fight in the FS.

Aurora Cotop - 96.75 (TES 48.93 and PCS 47.82, 6th; total 140.14, 7th

Ladies FS protocols

So we have our first medal of the season!! Thanks to Marjorie Lajoie / Zachary Lagha and their silver medal in junior ice dance. This is their first JGP medal. Natalie & Bruce also did well, and actually had a higher BV than the more experienced team of Lewis/Bye.

Marjorie Lajoie / Zachary Lagha - 80.37 (TES 36.48 and PCS 43.89), 2nd; total 138.92, 2nd
Natalie D'Alessandro / Bruce Waddell - 65.55 (TES 30.96 and PCS 34.59), 6th; total 113.25, 6th

Oh and the ISU has posted its first photo from the new season. It's Marjorie & Zach in the kiss & cry after the SD: https://www.instagram.com/p/BYPxbVFg4R3/

I watched a little of the junior ladies. I think Aurora has a bright future. She has nice big jumps and I think she has some presence. The young Russian ladies were very, very good. Eteri just keeps churning them out, doesn't she?

Someone said something about rumours of Virtue/Moir's FD being set to Moulin Rouge? Thoughts, feelings, tin foil ideas?

Uhm, about all that can be said for certain is that they are determined to be a bit coy in dribbling out the details....but we do know that Scott's hair has been trimmed for the nonce...

The winter is coming thing makes me want them to skate to "Light of the Seven" which if you saw the season finale last year is what plays in the opening King's Landing scenes. But then I'm a Game of Thrones junkie.

I'm actually okay with the Moulin Rouge thing (if it's true) even if it's warhorsy. I loved there Carmen and god knows that is nearly the definition of warhorse at this point. Just as long as it's not POTO. I almost want to tweet her, like a big brat, that I'm on board with anything they want to do as long as it's not POTO. :drama:

Throw 4S!

Looks like Tessa & Scott are using "Sympathy for the Devil" by The Rolling Stones: https://twitter.com/tessavirtue/status/902259072329596928

Preliminary entries for Souvenir Georges-Éthier: https://patinage.qc.ca//ressources/...ciales/3-SGE_ListeParticipants_2017-08-23.pdf

And Olivia McIsaac / Elliott Graham have been assigned to the JGP in Gdansk: http://www.twofortheice.com/canadas-nextgen-dancers-national-summer-series-jgp/

another chance for Edrian to work on his 3a in competition.

I like the idea of that song for Tessa and Scott.. but i hope it comes with other music... it's a bit repetitive to me... (and boring)

Some people have been speculating that it could be one of the songs they use for the SD, in which case, there would have to be at least one other piece to meet the rhythm requirements. If that was actually a program hint and not her just liking the quote (since they did say earlier they were over doing program announcements and wanted people to just find out when they did the programs).
