Skating has come a long way in the past 125 years.

From the grainy photographs of skaters cocooned in thick jackets and woolly hats braving wild lakes and ponds on rickety iron skates to the ultra-fit, aerodynamic, balletic superstar athletes of today, it has been quite a journey. And the International Skating Union (ISU) has been there from the start.

Nice article. The poor old ISU gets a lot of flack from fans (as does any regulatory and oversight organization), but through it all their dedication to promoting and growing their sports has been steadfast.

They get a lot of flack because some their specialists and judges don't execute the rules and guidelines truthfully and fairly.

I really enjoyed the fresh and candid tone of ISU President Jan Dijkema.

The emphasis on new platforms to communicate skating to fans ahead of the upcoming Olympics, and the not just respectful, but upbeat presentation of all the skating sports -- including a reaffirmation or recommitment to synchro becoming an Olympic event -- made me feel that the ISU has the right person at the helm for the era.

They are celebrating 125 years but make it virtually impossible to find detailed results of ISU competions of The past! Unacceptable!
