The Junior Grand Prix is just around the corner! :cheer: With the main season coming in so soon, I think it'd be fun to list the new programs that we like so far. Here are some helping questions: Which program stood out to you the first time you saw it? Which program do you think will make your list of favourites by the end of the season?

Here is my list:
Kaori Sakamoto's "Amelie"
https://youtu.be/CNTzCYiYNKM
I liked this one the moment I saw it (other than the awkward moment at 1:59). The soundtrack of the movie is beautiful, and it's not often that you see a skater using it. This program is like a breath of fresh air to me, and I think it has the potential to be a showstopper program.

Soyoun Park's "Black Swan"
https://youtu.be/GMM4GgPVI4s
Alina Zagitova and Kaetlyn Osmond aren't the only ones using this music! (btw I'm excited to see both of their versions too.) Despite being a big fan of Soyoun, I haven't really liked a lot of her programs. But this one really stood out for me from the moment I saw it. She was an elegant swan in the 2013-14 season, so it's exciting to see her as a swan again in this upcoming Olympic season.

Satoko Miyahara's "Memoirs of a Geisha"
https://youtu.be/4gi7DF-2_VA
Apparently there was a performance where her jumps were better than in the one above, but I can't find it :(. Anyways, I think this is a stunning program, with some interesting moves, particularly in the step sequence. Though the program already looks great, I think it will grow into an even better program as the season goes forward.

Thanks for the thread!

For now:
-it seems Sakamoto's "Amelie" is my favorite LP among ladies already, even though there are some potentially interesting programs (e.g. Gabby's LP) still to go.

-can't decide which SP I like more Mihara's "Libertango" or Miyahara's "Memories of Geisha". Will see during the season when Satoko will improve her jumps and Mai will own her program and perform full potential of it.

-Nathan's "Nemesis" SP (little shreds of it if more precisely) is kind of my addiction these days. Probably the best music choice, imo. Just looking forward to watch full version.

-also I love stsq from Reynolds "Whiplash" SP. Amazing music cuts from amazing movie, by the way.

Glimpses of Ashley's "La La Land" fs in her and Shae-Lynne's Making of video, at 6:30 and 11:50. The whole 15-min. feature is well worth watching, though. :) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9u5Q1Xok1y4

Nathan's "Nemesis" SP, shreds of. It's smashing, shows so much of his personality.

Stellato/Bartholomay's "Eleanor Rigby" SP, choreographed by Rohene. They're looking more like a pair than a few months ago, it's really cool that they're making that a priority. Even with a step out, I love their SBS 3lutz much more than D/R's. In their FS at SD, it was stunning, although other elements weren't as good. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bDhdNXOxccc

Patrick's pre-season programs are beautiful and have a lot of potential.

While I like it, I don't quite love his SP yet (the timing feels kinda off in places, which I guess is tricky in a program with lyrics) but it is really quite unique from any SP he's done before and I'm intrigued to see where he goes with it. Also, the elements are quite strong for him this early in the season compared to previous years, and that's with adding a quad, so I'm optimistic. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gv3EfmRcDyI

His FS is pretty much reflective of where he has taken his skating - and (I'm guessing) how he wants people to remember his skating. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dLxpR_ZsJMQ&t=2s In a sea of warhorses and repeats, it's nice to see him bringing two new programs to the table - ones that are very contemporary, very him, and highlight his strengths. These will be sure to stand out at the Olympics, and it will be great to see two beautiful, emotionally-driven programs to (presumably) complete his career. The epic battle of the talented quadsters will be very exciting to watch, but it's programs like these (Jason's too!) that will really showcase to the world how beautiful skating can be.

1. Jason Brown's FS (M. Rodriquez original composition a.k.a. Orchestral Son of Piano:biggrin:)

Even with jumps marked, at an early club comp, classic Jason, can't take your eyes away.

2.Sean Rabbitt's SP, Tequila (first skater in this Ice Network Glacier Falls vid)

Sean Rabbit. Tequila. Do you really need to know any more?

3. Andrew Torgashev's FS, El Tango de Roxanne

A fancam of a club comp, so you can't really get the whole effect (and I salute those who give us fancams, it's just the nature of the beast). I was there and the closing step sequence was thrilling to watch. The kid has just turned 16, but he knows the "power of the performance", and I look forward to the development of this program.

Just have to second this. He just has "it" and his stsq is always +3 worthy. I can't get over how divine his ss are.

I FINALLY saw Patrick's "Dust In The Wind" SP. What can I say.......IMO, He is the greatest skater to hit the ice since Plushy. Even with a fall on his 3A I would have scored that program in the 90's. I haven't seen Patrick live since 2010 and he is faster and smoother than ever......I can't express how badly I want him to win the OGM and then, just like Plushy, he can open an Academy and teach and mentor the next generation of skating stars. :points:

patrick's programs... even if unfinished...

D/R's SP

Took the words right out of my mouth. ;)

I'd also like to add in Nathan's SP, and Karen's programs, Angela Wang's SP and LP too. :)

Patrick Chan is the ultimate skater. It's such a pleasure to watch him. I know there are others with a jillion quads but none of them have the smoothness and the grace that Patrick exhibits on the ice. I know this isn't a popular opinion but I truly feel the quad fests are ruining the artistic side of skating. The quad jumpers that get the high performance points just almost make me laugh. Patrick's Hallelujah will go down as a classic!

While I agree with you on Patrick, I'm going to have disagree to the point of "since Plushy," though I do have to put in an honorable mention for Jeremy Abbott and his blade work. ;)
