Agreed. Unfortunately, given the state of the world we live in, moving the games to another country wouldn't reduce the danger. Contrary to popular belief, I don't think that it's Kim Jong Un we have to worry about at the moment, I'm more worried about how Trump handles the situation.

L'Équipe just reported that there's no plan B to replace Pyeongchang. https://www.lequipe.fr/Tous-sports/A...du-nord/834508

So it's either Pyeongchang, or no Olympics at all.

Please don't make this a Political thread! No one has handled this situation for many, many years.

I can't imagine it being cancelled - moving to 2019 perhaps?

Seems like they are pressing ahead with it. The schedule was announced today:

    https://www.pyeongchang2018.com/en/schedule

Curling and the Qualifying for the Ski Jumping Men's Normal Hill competition kicking things off on the 8th, while the Opening Cermony and the first of the Figure Skating competitions (Men's SP and Pairs SP for the Team Event) being held on the 9th.

Here is where I first saw about the schedule being announced:

Apparently, the ticket sales aren't going well because of this business in North Korea, so the organisers have released the schedule to try to whip up interest.

It'll be interesting to see how things progress.

    You're welcome.

But, just be aware that the table in your quote is now different to the table in my post... because I just spotted a mistake.

For Garmisch in 1940, I accidentally put the date for the previous St. Moritz Olympics down (1928) instead of the date for the previous Garmisch Olympics (1936). And hence got the wrong time difference.

    Sorry.
