And her new haircut.

that haircut is so fierce and such a blow in your face to the old farts who think she should be more feminine and have braided long hair...

well Meagan looks hotter than ever with that shorter than ever hair :) gotta love her fierceness

Dropping a line to note that Evelyn Walsh and Trennt Michaud were able deliver a strong Free in Junior Pairs, reversing the upset in the SP and taking 1st place.

Frankly, all of the Junior Pairs look like their pushing hard to up their level of tech to meet the criteria Skate Canada has set. Both McCaw/Adcock and the Boys-Eddy sibs were attempting and getting some new elements...

Results and video links [from our favourite sparkly stone] in the Skate Ontario Summer Skate thread here... Encourage folks to take a look...:cheer:

Chiddy vs. Yuzuru vs. Javier in September?!! Geez, you want a few heart attacks, don't you?

I just remembered that I forgot to mention: Kaitlyn & Andrew tweeted they are going to skate in the Japan Open exhibition on October 7th.

That means no Finlandia Trophy for them.
We already know they won't be at Nepela.
I don't think they'd be sent to US International Classic for obvious reasons.
So it'll be either ACI or Nebelhorn for them.
I would narrow that down to one, realistically, but from the info I have I'm not sure anymore.

I don't know if we'll see WeaPo at ACI. (Mate, did you forget something?)

Nebelhorn isn't just for Olympic qualifying. Skaters can compete there as a regular CS event. Though of course those countries that need spots will need to place well relative to each other.

Yuzuru and Javier are at ACI ... and i have tickets... :) so I am waiting with excitement to see which Canadian skaters will also go..

Last year we had Keegan and Benett... Virtue and Moir..... Alaine, Larkyn and Michelle... and Wolfe and Ruest were there... among others... so I am hoping for a good roster this time again.

Can I just say one more time how much I love Kaetlyn Osmond! Her honesty is refreshing and I can totally relate when says "I have a lot of expectations of myself" I think we've all felt that way. Even if you win an event, it can be a disappointment if you don't perform your best in doing so. I hope that made sense. Bravo Kaetlyn....A mature, grounded young woman.

It stands to reason that Canada isn't going to send its top echelon skaters to a US event, just as the US probably won't sent its top skaters to the SCI event. But the USI event is still a Challenge event, and that's a plus for skaters like Long and Pineault.

^^ as I understand it, and for those who are not aware (and please correct me if I am wrong here) for GP's, there is a hierarchy that the host picks need to follow -host pick meaning they select skaters from a list of names each country submits. Host picks are to be selected from a certain number of skaters from each of the different "tier's" (i.e. Tier 1 would be like a Yuzuru Hanyu, Patrick Chan, Tier 2 would be a lower grouping, and Tier 3 etc.). This makes it more 'fair' and hopefully encourages more local audiences buy tickets to watch the events.

As for Challenge events, I believe it is the skater's own country who enters them -correct? Or is it similar to GP's?

The National Summer Series has concluded and the final rankings appear to be posted now.

https://info.skatecanada.ca/hc/en-ca/articles/115003798483-Results

It looks like assignments for Challenger Series events will be based in part on these results. Skaters that had already proven themselves at their first NSS event or had a top 10 finish at 2017 Nationals already got assignments.
