Wait a minute. Why are two JGP events being held the same weekend? That's bizarre.

Wait.....the dates are wrong on this. It's a week later.

ice dance will be extremely competitive and pressure filled with JGPF spots being decided between Koreans, Czech (the favourites) Canadians... while there are at least two teams (CYP and USA) who didn't do well in Gdansk (first ones) or didn't get to compete at all this season (second ones) playing spoilers....

The French with 24 points, will be looking at a tie breaker most likely...

Mrazkova/Mrazek and Lim/Quan would qualify with a third place. Most likely a 4th is enough too (15+9=24 points and 1-4 beats 2-3 of Fradji/Fourneaux in the tiebreak): if they finish 4th, I think the only way not to qualify is if Simova/Aksenov wins (24 points with a 4-1 finishes) with a huge score (to win the tie break) with Gauthier/Thieren second. The former is a bit unlikely.
Gauthier/Thieren are in with a second place. If they are third, they go to a tiebreaker with the French and they need scoring 147.86 in Egna to win the tiebreak which is pretty achievable.

But as you say, Kudryavtseva/Karatkevich and Neset/Markelov can play the spoiler here.

yeah.. i was assuming the CZE and KOR teams would be less in danger.... than the Canadians... and for no reasons I am aware of, I love the name Quentin so I would like them to qualify :)

Omg, so many possibilities with this stage! I am super rooting for Mrazkova/Mrazek, and also for Gurgenidze, Bralin and Nordeback to break through somehow… but, like, I know it’s impossible, but 🙌

I wonder if it’s time to bring the balloons out!

Why impossible? Nordeback was superb at Finlandia last week, he's surely gonna podium!

I assume "break through" might refer to JGPF qualification? Both Nordeback and Bralin have a bronze medal already, and Gurgenidze placed fourth, so they have a slim, but existing chance of making it to the JGPF, especially the two men.

Also, "surely" is a word I'd never use for Junior men - They seem to be on a mission to prove everyone who uses it wrong. 😆

Lol you're right, the men's results are always a mess, will be fun when Broussard wins again 😃
Btw Rakhat and Andreas will have to place at least 2nd to qualify (if my calculations are correct), which is gonna be so hard for Rakhat 😢 but I'll root for him!

Btw I'm a huge fan of Mrázková/Mrázek too (and they're Czech like me so 🙃)
Normally I'd be hoping for them to break records again, but I think I'll be satisfied just with advancing to jgpf 😬😆

I think Gurgenidze’s chance is extremely slim, and both Nordeback and Bralin need silver as a minimum. But, the most important thing, they have TES and I hope they are all coming to Calgary (sorry, I’ve been waiting for this JWC for almost three years!)

Nordeback actually has pretty good chances at a silver medal, I think he has the second-highest PB of the skaters here (though he got it at a senior competition, not a junior competition), and Lucas Broussard has shown that it's possible to win even without a 3A or quad (though Bralin is lacking big fed backing compared to Lucas). With how inconsistent and unpredictable junior men are, honestly, anybody who placed anywhere from 1st to 5th at a previous JGP has a chance at the JGPF. 😬

I am positive that Broussard with gold/safe choices will Q, unless he completely wipes out… I am not sure if Nordeback can achieve silver vs 2 Japanese contenders with strong backing by JSF. And Bralin pretty much has neither the backing, nor the scores, nor technical advantage. Overall, the most likely outcome is that all 3 gold medalists would Q…

I just took a quick look at the women's entries. Wow there are a lot of countries represented including Egypt🤨!
The great thing about this forum is I can print out the start order, print out the start times, Exterpolate the actual time on the slider my skaters will appear on the ice. AND if anyone else is skating to music I love, I can put a yellow high lighter through their name and watch them as well.
Now to find out the time zone offset (time in other places) 17 hour offset and I am good to go...skating on demand...what a concept!
Just curious. Is there a ban on anyone ever using John Denver's music?
