I heard Frank being interviewed on a shuttle at nationals. He said that this (2018) was likely his last nationals. He said that Tessa wants to "pursue her studies" and his other student Scott Davis was retiring.

I thought Scott Davis was a coach?

Its unclear but could it be Scott Dyer - another poster brings that up? I wonder if he is one of the students?

Without knowing for sure, I do wonder whether temadd meant Scott Dyer, who will turn 27 this month. He has competed in senior Nats six times since 2011. If he wants to continue competing, I hope he will. But if it is he who is retiring, his career is something to be proud of.

Is Shotaro still skating? ...

In Nov 2017, Shotaro placed fifth at sectionals (where Scott Dyer was one of the four who qualified for 2018 Nats).

If(?) Shotaro continues to compete in 2018-19, perhaps(?) he would have a better shot at making top four at sectionals.

That's great news. I think Ting is the future for the US Ladies.....

I was very impressed with Ting. Her program went by in a flash which for me is a good sign that she's worth my time. And she looks like she can grow into her skating to something special.

I wish a retired Frank Carroll would do a little consulting for Bradie--she needs packaging and Frank understands packaging. Get his advice and then get him out of there before he gets in the way of her jumps. Glad she's doing SOI--it should help her with performance.

Same thing people said about Gracie when she moved to Frank and we know what happened.

Considering the strong possibility that Ashley and Angela and Courtney and Mirai and Polina won’t be around next year, WHO DO WE HAVE?? Who will be assigned GP slots? Will fewer American women be on the GP circuit, like Canada?

Mirai said she would continue. Angela strongly indicated she’d be here for next season. Ashley is still keeping her options open.

On the GP we should have;

Bradie
Karen
Mariah
Mirai
Angela (1 spot)

And if they really barter for it, Starr and Ting could get one spot a piece.

The question is will they push Starr and Ting to stay juniors or will they move them up so they can get senior experience sooner.

Starr will def stay senior I think. She already did 4cc as a senior. She will probably try to get the SA TBA spot.

why Angela get 1 spot? Is she guaranteed any spot? Her SB is not in top 24. I'll be happy if she does get a GP though

I don't think Bradie's packaging/polish is as dire as everyone thinks. She has real choreography and transitions, although the choreography might be of questionable taste and quality. But she doesn't seem deaf to music, and she shows she's capable of getting into the performance (as opposed to someone like Gracie, who tended to skate without much emotion at all).

Bradie needs a great choreographer. I would send her to Shae-Lynn to bring out some level of maturity and to teach her to move with more fluidity.

Agree 100% with this. Based on what Doug Haw said about Bradie on TSL, Denise Myers is an excellent coach who has given Bradie very good technique. And from what I can tell and others who have seen her live have said, she is also musical. She just needs a great choreographer to bring her to the next level and Shae-Lynn certainly has a track record of doing that for skaters.

The good thing is that since Bradie is now the US champion and the top American woman this season, she is on the radar of a lot of great choreographers who will be eager to work with someone as technically sound as she is. Presumably, she now has access to better re$ources that can help her find the right partner to work with on her programs.
