Won't lie, I'm upset. His first international outing, and the jumps all went awry :sad4: Still, he did perform the step sequence, in fact so much so that he didn't have the energy to spin. I'm hoping it's just first competition nerves

Really rough skate for Kazuki, I'm absolutely devastated.
It's especially sad knowing he could totally do it, his jumps are in such good shape, but the nerves got the best of him.
I hope he can put on a good performance in the free, but a medal is out of question now :sad21:

I’m upset too! Not with him but with the nerves, the practice this morning wasn’t bad, Hiraike coach was smiling and also in the warm up 30 minutes ago he jumped quite well!!! And now.... I want to cry 
It’s just lack of confidence in the competition... like Ichatdelune said, the step sequence was beautiful, and the program is potentially the most beautiful, so original and perfect for him... and the crowd was all for him... ahhhhh

It was really hard for all of us I think, cause we all know he can land those jumps...
What makes me even more upset it’s that no one skated clean (I’m not counting Boyang Jin) so it should have been quite easy for him.
Kazuki will be the first one to skate in the free, I hope we will see him at his best on Sunday!!!

For me it's very clear that his mistakes with jumps were more psychological than technical - it's great that he improved his physical strength and power but he needs to work on his mental strength, too. BUT, the choreo! It's so unique and challenging and he managed to deliver it and get a StSq4 + 1.01 GOE! So that's a great thing, let's hope he keeps this up while also landing his jumps.

Today’s practice has just ended and Kazuki concentrated only on jumps, he just did a couple of spins in the last two minutes... Some of them were really really good, he popped a few quadruples and he also fell sometimes but I think it’s to be expected if you only jump for half an hour!
