Actually, it's not that simple as the SB score is what defines who will go if they follow the criteria they posted. In that case the third person would actually be the Junior champion Juulia Turkkila with a SB of over 134 and she also went to an international senior competition this season so she meets the requirements. But still, it's Finland, so anything could happen.

Also, Bela Papp hasn't met one requirement (international senior competition) so he might not be able to go to Euros. He basically said in an interview that he still wishes to concentrate on Junior Worlds this year. But again, it's Finland....

Sorry, ankka, I edited my previous post. Maybe it's not decided yet.

I like Laura and wish she could go to Euros and Worlds.

I hope Laura's injury is not that serious. But she is doing the right thing and take things slowly. If it is achilles, it is dreadful, look what happened to Surya Bonaly after 96 season she was not the same. Perhaps Laura should draw a line through this season and concentrate on her full recovery and come back in 2011/2012 season. Kiira will keep the flag flying at Euro's and should guarantee spots, she is probably the likely challenger to Caro.

OT but has Jenni Vahaama quit for good? She was so talented.

Yes, she does not skate any more. I have understood she had no motivation after the injury, she was training couple of months laste year, but on april announced that she quits skating and continues with other sports.

So, Finnish Skating Federation announced today the skaters who will represent Finland in Bern (Europeans):

Kiira Korpi
Cecilia Törn (3rd in Nationals, ladies)
Juulia Turkkila (she won the junior ladies)

Valtter Virtanen

Henna Lindholm and Ossi Kanervo (ice dance)

Laura Lepistö will not skate. What a pity that she hasn't recovered yet.

Finland has produced a number of female skaters for discussion about placing in World events. What about the males? Hopefully, we will begin to see some outstanding Finnish Men in world competitions.

Yes, good on the finnish federation on selection :)

sorry to hear about Laura Lepisto, but I am sure the federation has a spot for her for world's along with Korpi. Korpi should guarantee 2 spots for next years Euros probably for herself and Laura and good for the fedration to give Cecilia and Juulia some experience.

Yes I do hope finland can bring the men up along with the ladies no-one really since Oula Jasskaleinien, he was a good skater.

also lest not forget Ice Dance as well its been a long time since Rahkamo and Kokkko too they were class

good luck to all at Europeans at Bern, skate from the heart:)

Man, would I love to see another Finnish ice dancing couple with the stylishness of Rahkamo and Kokko! They were one of my favorite couples, and I was so pleased when they finally medaled. Isn't Rahkamo the president of the Finnish skating federation now?

Yes I think she is.

Also Mila Kajas does the PA side I think too for the skaters, like an agent, remember her 94 OL free skate, she was great:biggrin:
