Must be geoblocked, too, unfortunately. sigh... 15min story when Dai visited David Wilson for SP choreo in the summer 2018. We knew David had 2 music prepared for Dai; one The sheltering sky the other something uptempo. I didn't know the other was Vibrafinger by Gary Burton https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LqoO0-UYXnk. How this one would have looked like had he picked up and skated to, I'd wonder!

I was wondering too, but I really loved Sheltering Sky.

I did get to watch the video from a kind fan. It was really nice to see him working with David and
all the extra footage.

Huge belated thanks for the updates, deedee and demarinis! :thank:

Dai and Shiz appear in Ayaka Hirahara's Moshimo Project 2020 fabulous video.

Oh my, such an uplifting project by Ayaka. Love how passionately Dai jammed along to the song.

Like demarinis I got to watch it with a kind fan's help. Dai was so very smooth even at that early stage in the choreography process. As David said, "The Sheltering Sky" is such an intensely emotional piece, which was a perfect match for Dai's comeback.

I like Vibrafinger too. It's an interesting composition, but I feel like it wouldn't have suited Dai as well as TSS did. Imo the vibe is too old-school for him, even if we know he would have made it work anyway as he always does. :)

Anyone here remember this cute interview at NHK Trophy 2013? I don't recall the exact wording of the question, but Mao replied she'd like to get to know "Mao" (the person she'd be if she weren't skating). Dai on the other hand confessed that he wished he were at least 180 cm tall, handsome and Meryl Davis' "partner". Such a dork!

^^^ I do remember the 2013 interview. When Dai said he would like to be Meryl's partner the commentator looked surprised and said really, Dai looked embarrassed
and quickly corrected his response and said "dance" partner. He got his wish dancing with Meryl in "Love on the Floor".

Here is a fan compilation of "Love on the Floor" by Lighthair. Meryl ad Dai's dance starts at 6:00.

Thanks for the updates synesth! Nice to wake up to a Dai treasure trove!

Considering such bad physical conditions hitting him series of injuries starting shoulder, knee, ankle and so on the whole season, very very well done at the J-Nats, Daisuke!

I went to Yoyogi with my husband on Day 1 of J-Nats for Pairs SP and Ladies SP (as I said, no luck for Day 2-4 sigh...) When we entered the venue and started up the slope to the 2nd floor, my hubby suddenly told me, 'Look down the rink. Isn't he Takahashi skating toward our direction?' Then I remembered: there were official practices of Men that afternoon, and the opening time of the venue for audience overlaped the second half of the final group. Yes, yes yes he was assigned in the final group! Forgetting (not completely but almost ;)) my husband being beside me, I stared in wonder because he did try a quad toe if I'm not mistaken, slightly Ur'd but landed on one foot! With more fixity stare at him, I saw him land a couple of beautiful 3A, one with 3T. Watching Dai skating and jumping was mere 10min. or so till the end of practice but it was as if I were in heaven or in my sweet dream. 1-day delayed birthday gift to me. I will always remember his airy 3A and his smooth beautiful glidings on the ice in my heart. :luv17:

THIS https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-RaCZ64rGGw may be geo-blocked again , but 12min video of Dai practicing quads during official practices at the Nats December 2019 by Fuji TV. Around 9:40-50min there is exactyl the ONE I saw on Dec 19th! I hope this video will survive on YT for a very long time, for his future fans ;) as well as for us old fans as one of best/sweetest memories. :)

There's a very interesting series of articles 'The program that I've loved/admire' on web Sportiva https://sportiva.shueisha.co.jp/search_keyword/?SearchWord=私が愛したプログラム&cx_refAction=cxKeywordLink.

The latest ver. is by Kenji Miyamoto. He picekd up 'Eye' https://sportiva.shueisha.co.jp/search_keyword/?SearchWord=私が愛したプログラム&cx_refAction=cxKeywordLink, or https://news.yahoo.co.jp/articles/0007877f08971941ab2ec9d9401d7938b1973313

自分は選手としてオリンピックに行くことはできませんでしたが、
髙橋大輔というすばらしいスケーターが、自分の作ったプログラムを
オリンピックに連れて行ってくれた。

I couldn't go to the Olympic Games as a competitive ice dancer myself, but this wonderful skater Daisuke Takahashi did take the program that I choreographed for him to the Games.'

'I believe Daisuke as a skater pushes himself; greedy/hungry (in a good way) in performing, thus his skating style is very versatile. Furthermore, he pushes people around him, too, and raises the bar for them.
Dai is so gifted to execute something extraordinary, way much more than we'd imagine or expect. And doing so he makes us expand our own views, too. That's why verious choreographers in the world say they would love to work with Dai for choreography, I think.'

Kenji also talked about 'The crisis'. This song was among the first 20 pieces of music Kenji originally picked up and prepared for Dai's competitive program(s) in 2008-09 season including 'eye'. Back then however Dai refused this piece saying he hates it. A few years later Dai changed his mind and said he wanted to skate to it when these two were working to make an Ex number. Very interesting to know me thought. :)

Thank you so much for this, deedee! After all these years Kenji is as smitten with Dai-chan's skating as ever it seems. :luv17:

Also thanks for the subbed Hyoen video to you and the very generous uploader. What a wonderful treat!

^^ Bitte schön, young sister. :) The Dai-source of mine is limited, I'd say one-twentieth or one-fiftieth of yours probably though.

After her analyses of some of Dai's stsq on twitter, meowmix recently started a youtube channel where she uploads breakdowns of steps and turns of entire programs. These are the Dai programs she analysed so far:

Yeah I've found them too. Meowmix is just amazing. I didn't notice how packed one program is; full of in-between turns and steps Dai is doing all the time. I am such a bad, blind fan of the sport?!: S/he is also adorable adding 'awww' a lot, and most of her/his  points are as identical as ours, aren't they?! :luv17:

I'll keep stubbornly insisting that this is not true.:

They sure are! Well tbh, if I were to make such videos they wouldn't be quite as informative as meowmix's, but rather a continuous stream of  !

We have several reports from Dai's annual Seibu Gas talk event with his college buddy, Mr. Araki (who works at the company and who could be seen cheering for Dai at last year's Nationals), which was held virtually today. While participation in the live event (edit: the entire event was pre-recorded) was restricted to customers, Seibu Gas intends to make parts of the talk publicly available on Oct. 1st and Oct. 10th. One important information relayed by Dai-chan: He thinks that the programs Kana and him were given are wonderful and that they will be kept secret until their debut (presumably at Western Sectionals):
