I remembered after last year's Rostelecom Cup that the Shibs did a seminar in Russia and I was trying to remember who the skaters were.

Here were the pics from last year:

It turns out some of them were: Elizaveta Khudaiberdieva & Nikita Nazarov, Maria Kazakova & Georgy Reviya, and Diana Davis who is partnered with Gleb Smolkin among others. At the time of the seminar, Davis was partnered with Fedor Varlamov.

It looks they swept the podium at the JGP Czech event.

Khudaiberdieva/Nazarov and Kazakova/Reviya made it to the JGPF. Diana Davis/Gleb Smolkin only did one JGP event.

Do we know if they are going to be back in the fall? I haven't seen anything yet but maybe I missed it?

They haven't said a word, but I fully expect they won't. They didn't seem competition ready at SOI and Marina is now in FL, so they would either have to move or find a new coaching team.

What do you all think of their answer to the comeback question? I have to say it gives me a lot more hope than the usual "I don't plan to currently but ~you never know~" type of canned response that effectively retired skaters usually spout. The Tessa and Scott schedule evidently worked so maybe their plan is to sit out two seasons. It makes me a little sad that they won't be building up a new trilogy of FDs for the Olympics but I would still bet on a comeback at this point.

I’m really intrigued by their “we’re not doing anything this summer” comment. I’d sort of given up on them coming back but now...

Wishing a very special Maia, a wonderful Happy Birthday!

It's just incredible I can't believe that she is 25 years old. I first remember the buzz about Maia and Alex when they won the US Novice title. Maia was like only 12 and a miniature sophisticated lady like no other. Surprising, but also so deservingly, during their first year competing on the junior level they win the silver at Junior Worlds. Maia was 14. Then they win the bronze during their first year as seniors. Maia was 16! Sixteen! Who does that in ice dance? Will anyone ever do that again?

It's hard to describe how much I miss seeing Maia especially on the competitive scene. Always so elegant. Always shows such great sportsmanship. Such an incredibly consistent competitor. You can count on her to be a fierce competitor on the ice, and off the ice to be so gracious in both triumph and disappointment. Maia shows what it means be a role model, showing by example how champions in sports can help spread a message that anyone would be proud of. Since the Olympics, Maia and Alex continue to show the way being such positive messengers for others, especially in the Asian American community. I still feel so proud of her, when Maia shows up so beautifully dressed and poised at all sorts of events wherever they go. My extended family loved seeing Maia and Alex during Stars On Ice tour. I will root for them no matter what they decide to do come 2022.

Our baby is getting so grown up! Happy Birthday to Maia!

I am not reading into their vague mention of 2022. I think they are doing what Laurie Hernandez has done, say they are considering a comeback, so they can continue to receive endorsements.
