Javi considered that a 3-quad & 2 3 Axel free skate would be enough to defend his title, I don't think so unless he has a sure bet that his main competitor & training mate will not be able to deliver a clean 4 quad & 2 3 Axel long program, otherwise he may need to upgrade his technical ante in the later season like he did in the previous season.

Well, if anyone has insider's knowledge about how he could beat Yuzu right now, that's exactly him. Javi probably knows how much he needs to win, and how much he can push himself towards this goal. It would be impractical to try things he's not ready for.

So Javi's SP costume is very very similar to Patrick's. Interesting, I didn't think he would skate to Malagueña in suspenders
And that if he were to upgrade his layout, he would add a 3-3-3 instead of a quad. Also interesting to hear.

Javier donated shirts and sweatshirts from various seasons to be auctioned to support seniors skater competing at an international level.

a contemporary flamenco costume for male dancer? cannot wait seeing it this weekend, but at least I like Patrick's outfit for his black bird SP a lot, the designs are effortlessly chic :luv17:

As Jackie & Javi discussed in the podcast, it is all about to get more BV points, so if a 3-3-3 can provide for the same points as the 4th Quad, why not go for it?

"I'll try to see if I can make my hair look a bit more like Elvis", ohhh, I'm already laughing imagining it

Time schedule for SP tomorrow - he will be skating first in the second group (good or bad??)

Have not found any reports on the practice session this morning. :( It seems it was not open to public, but could also just reflect my not being able to follow Russian sources...

In the IceTalk first part Lynn Rutherford was telling about her discussions with Brian concerning Javi's condition/aims etc. for this part of the season and it sounded as if Brian is not expecting much yet...
(Here is a link to a download site at IceNetwork: http://www.icenetwork.com/fans/icetalk Just in case you wanna have the interview for yourself...)

I kind of hope Javi will let his hair grow on top for the suitable 1950s Elvis style - in reality he already had that hair last year in the summer before the season began. Remember this? http://www.laregion.es/media/laregion/images/2015/08/19/2015081921470969914.jpg (not so far from this: http://boomers-fifties-pinups.com/elvis_presley_signed_tinted_photo359x425.jpg)

Thanks for the information, eppen

I recalled Brain Orser once said that Javi does not like skating first; didn't he skate first in the 4th group at Sochi for the long program? Anyway, he is now a veteran and this is his 11th senior competition season, I assume that he has gotten used to the skating orders, whether the first or the last.

I would not worry too much about Javi's placement so long as he is happy with his performance, he and his team know how to pace his performance/competition condition in a smart way.

It is good to know that Javi now know how to take care himself physically as well as look after his imagine on ice; in his early career, the only thing I disliked about him was his terrible hair style:laugh:
