Disclaimer: The GOE values listed next to the elements are the ones, I'd award if I was a judge, to give you a general impression of how well it was executed. I try to describe each of the elements but there's not always time to be as detailed as I would like and those numbers can sometimes say a thousand words. So if you see positive GOE, it means an element was executed to a high standard (and yes, I am generally being very nitpicky ).

Any questions, comments, criticisms and discussion are very welcome.

A general rant: Choreographic lifts do not have levels called and their purpose it to look nice, be performed to a high quality and fit the program. Why did so many teams choose to execute really strained and ugly choreographic lifts then, instead of choosing something simple, elegant and effective? The mind boggles.

9. Kaitlin HAWAYEK / Jean Luc BAKER /USA/
Singing in the Rain (soundtrack) by Nacio Herb Brown and Arthur Freed

one foot curve lift into catchfoot rotational lift [0]
twizzles: arm above and catch into clockwise arms folded into arms on hips [0]
circular step sequence [0]
into pair combination spin – good position and rotation speed [1]
spread eagle straight line lift with changes of position – a little tentative [-1]
diagonal step sequence [0] – could use some more speed
rotational choreographic lift with change of position [-1] – positions poorly extended, not a lot of speed

Their elements aren't of particularly high quality yet and they could have used some more speed but they skated well for their ability and managed to capture the character of the music quite well.

10. Sofia SFORZA / Francesco FIORETTI /ITA/
Schindler's List (soundtrack) by John Williams
Eli Eli by Elizabet Fumero Muren
160 BPM by Hans Zimmer

pair change combination spin [0] – positions not bad but could use more speed
circular step sequence – decent edges and flow [1]
spread eagle curve lift with her lying on his thigh – good positions, secure [1]
mirrored twizzles: arm above and catch into arms extended into arms on sides of the head [1] – solid, well-synchronised
sit straight line lift [1]
catchfoot rotational lift [0]
diagonal step sequence [0]
spin rotational choreographic lift [1]

A very strong performance, this was much better skated than their Short Dance. Great expression throughout, they really felt the music and showed a lot of drama. Strong, long edges and good execution of the technical elements.

They don't have the speed and power of the top teams but they really gave it their 110%.

11. Madeline EDWARDS / Zhao Kai PANG /CAN/
George Valentin (from The Artist soundtrack) by Ludovic Bource
Waltz for Peppy (from The Artist soundtrack) by Ludovic Bource
Peppy and George (from The Artist soundtrack) by Ludovic Bource

twizzles: arm above and catch into clockwise arms behind into arm above – very well synchronised, good speed [1]
diagonal step sequence [1] – smooth edges, good flow
spread eagle curve lift with changes of position [0]
circular step sequence [0]
difficult entry to straight line lift on one foot [-3] – struggled with the balance and eventually fell
pair change combination spin – good positions and rotation speed [1]
rotational lift with changes of position – messy and ragged and eventually fell [-3]
laboured choreographic lift [-1]

Light skating and good flow throughout. A well choreographed program with a lot of connecting footwork, skated mostly in closed holds. They showed a lot of charisma and reflected the character of the music very well with their movement. If you took the two falls out, everything else was top quality.

12. Anna NAGORNYUK / Viktor KOVALENKO /UZB/
Me Voy by Jasmin Levy
Flamenco Selection

spread eagle straight line lift with her standing up – good flow and extension [1]
one foot curve lift with him in arabesque and her on his leg [1]
circular step sequence [0]
pair change combination spin [0] – could use a little more speed
twizzles: arm above and catch(he rotated quicker) into clockwise(he did one less revolution) into arms above [-1]
rotational lift with change of position [-1] – messy, her positions were unextended and it looked laboured
diagonal step sequence [0]
ugly choreographic lift [-1]

It started well with a lot of speed and they've shown good attack but it became quite messy and ragged in the second half. Quite simple and generic choreography.

I don't understand at all why their PCS were so high (and I felt the same way after seeing their Short Dance marks).

13. Lorraine MCNAMARA / Quinn CARPENTER /USA/
Le Balcon (from "Romeo and Juliet" musical) by Gerard Presgurvic
Les Rois Du Monde (from "Romeo and Juliet" musical) by Gerard Presgurvic

pair change combination spin – good entry from transitions, well extended positions and quite good rotation speed [2]
circular step sequence [1]
spread eagle straight line lift(very good positions and speed) into one foot curve lift(a little weak, positions not very well extended) [0]
catchfoot rotational lift [1] – good extensions and rotation speed
diagonal step sequence [0] – could use a little more flow
waltz jump to twizzles: arms behind clockwise(his weak) into arm above and catch [-1]
messy rotational choreographic lift to finish [-1]

Lots of speed and attack to start with but they became quite visibly tired at the end and the execution suffered as a result.

14. Evgenia KOSIGINA / Nikolai MIROSHKIN /RUS/
Michael Jackson Medley

rotational lift with changes of position [1] – sharp and quite effortless but her positions could have been a little better extended
twizzles: arm above and catch into clockwise into arm in front of head [1] – fast, close together and decently synchronised
diagonal step sequence [1]
spread eagle straight line lift with her on his boot [1] – good extensions
circular step sequence [1]
pair change combination spin [1] – good rotation speed
spread eagle curve lift with her on his back in catchfoot [1]
ugly choreographic rotational lift [-1]

Great character and attack throughout. A very entertaining program. All of the elements were sharp and executed to a high standard.

15. Shari KOCH / Christian NÜCHTERN /GER/
Adagio performed by The Canadian Tenors
Romeo and Juliet (soundtrack)

circular step sequence [1] – deep edges
sit curve lift [0] – positions could have been better extended
pair change combination spin [0]
twizzles: arm above and catch into clockwise arms on the side [0]
spread eagle straight line lift with change of position [1] – sharp and secure
midline step sequence [0] – could use more speed
catchfoot rotational lift [1] – good extension, decent rotation speed
choreographic lift [0]

A decent performance but their elements aren't particularly strong and they lack projection. They've chosen very dramatic music and their skating failed to live up to it. Expression was lacking.

16. Gabriella PAPADAKIS / Guillaume CIZERON /FRA/
Money by Pink Floyd
Hey You by Pink Floyd

diagonal step sequence – fast, sharp footwork, good flow [2]
twizzles: arm above and catch(she stepped out) into clockwise into arm above(she struggled) [-2]
difficult entry into spread eagle straight line lift with changes of position [1] – very strong at the start but a slight stutter at the end
to pair change combination spin [2] – good positions and rotation speed
difficult entry into one-foot curve lift with changes of position [1]
something went wrong, she looked to be in pain and they had to stop and take time out before continuing – her ankle was heavily taped up so most likely that injury flared up again
circular step sequence [1] – deep edges, good flow
catchfoot rotational lift [2] – good extension and rotation speed
choreographic lift fitting the character of the music very well [2]

A fantastic performance, even with the mistakes and the interruption. The choreography was creative and very detailed and featured a lot of upper body movement and transitions. And they presented it beautifullly, showing a lot of speed, character and attack. Botched twizzles aside, the elements were very strong as well.

They have the potential to become future world champions. The technical ability is there but more importantly, they also have a lot of charisma, character and they stand out from the crowd with unique and creative programs. What worries me is their lack of consistency. The mistakes here can be explained by her injury but it's not the first time they've made some major errors when it mattered.

17. Alexandra ALDRIDGE / Daniel EATON /USA/
Fiddler on the Roof by Isaac Stern

spread eagle straight line lift with changes of position – strong and secure [1]
circular step sequence [0]
pair combination spin [0] – decent positions but could use a little more speed
spread eagle curve lift with her standing up [1]
twizzles: arm above and catch(he struggled a little) into arms above clockwise into arms on hips [1] – very fast and well-synchronised
diagonal step sequence [0]
catchfoot rotational lift [0] – could use some more speed
choreographic lift [0]

A decent performance but they didn't seem to have as much speed and attack as in the short dance. The choreography was quite generic and the program fell a little flat, which is a shame because they've shown that they are capable of great expression in the SD. There were no noticable errors and elements were ok but not outstanding.

It was a decent effort but I just expected more from them and the comparison with Papadakis/Cizeron's exceptional program was very unfavourable.

18. Mackenzie BENT / Garrett MACKEEN /CAN/
Misterio Y Fuego performed by Ensemble Vivant

waltz jump to twizzles: arm above and raised leg into clockwise arms folded(a little stuttery) [0]
diagonal step sequence [0]
straight line spread eagle lift with changes of position [1]
pair change combination spin with rotation in both directions [1] – quite good rotation speed
hydroblade curve lift [0]
circular step sequence [0] – he dropped the free leg at one point but it was ok otherwise
one arm rotational lift going up and down [1]
choreographic lift [0]

A quite generic, old fashioned program. A little open at times and it didn't have a lot of character. They did an ok job but didn't show anything outstanding.

19. Valeria ZENKOVA / Valerie SINITSIN /RUS/
Cats (musical) by A. L. Webber

nice entry straight from footwork into pair change combination spin [1] – quite good rotation speed
transition spiral move into twizzles: arm above and catch into clockwise arm on head and to the side [1] – well synchronised, decent speed
straight line lift with her standing on his boot and him on one foot [1]
circular step sequence [1]
spread eagle curve lift with change of position [-1] – a little weak
diagonal step sequence [0] – not a lot of speed, they seemed to be running out of steam
one arm rotational lift [1]
fun choreographic lift [1]

Quite a lot of creative transitions throughout. Elements were strong and the choroegraphy was quite busy but they could have brought out the Cat theme a little more and shown a bit more attack and expression.

20. Alexandra STEPANOVA / Ivan BUKIN /RUS/
Flamenco Bolero by Gustavo Montesano

waltz jump into twizzles: arm above and catch into clockwise arms folded into arm above [2] – very fast and well synchronised
circular step sequence – good edges and flow [1]
difficult entry into sit straight line lift [2] – effortless
pair change combination spin [1]
spread eagle curve lift [-1] – lost the balance on the dismount
diagonal step sequence [1]
catchfoot rotational lift with her wrapped around him [1]
impressive choreographic lift [2]

The technical elements were very impressive and – the botched lift exit aside – executed to a very high standard.

The program left me really cold however. They have good basics and their movement was strong and confident but the choreography seemed random and messy.

Trivia: Simon Reed has pointed out that they haven chosen the music that Torvill & Dean used to Bukin's dad with at Worlds and Olympics (but he has later become a World Champion).
