Oh my Stephane!!! Watched him live (finally) at Fantasy on Ice 2017 in Kobe and I was literally into tears. I could only describe him as a nomadic poet - his romance, wildness and fluidity throughout the program and his charming smile off ice...definitely hoping to see him again soon...

In Kobe Stephane danced to "Sometimes it snows in April" by Prince - was it for the first time? I have never seen this piece before.

Stephane has been announced as one of the cast of Yuna Kim's 'All That Skate' in Seoul on May 20-22! The original article is here, but it's in Korean and Google Translate couldn't cope with the names. Another user posted a good translation in the Fan Fest thread for Gabriella Papadakis and Guillaume Cizeron if you'd like to read that instead.

I'm looking forward to seeing which programs he does. Will it be Merry Christmas, Mr Lawrence and Slave to the Music, or will it be something new for the end of the season?

He usually switches after "Art on Ice" to at least one of the new programs he did there (I guess it will be "Read all about it") and he also had plans to work in April with Salome on a new program. So, unless he is asked to perform something specific from the past, I think these will be two programs he'll perform in Korea.

Since there's no thread for Team Switzerland, I'm just dropping in here to celebrate the fact that Stephane's students of longest standing, Noemie and Noah Bodenstein, have made the Swiss junior national women's and men's teams for the second season running! I really appreciate the slow-and-steady approach Stephane has taken to developing these two talented kids as skaters and competitors - it shows me he really understands what teaching is all about, and their performances tell me that he's good at it, too. Here's hoping we get to see them both on the JGP and elsewhere later in the year.

Alexei Yagudin and Stéphane Lambiel :coffee:

I like, that Lambiel's kiss is not a polite "hello", his kiss is childish and sincere. I also like, that it seems Yagudin's head is absolutely clear of any thoughts: he is not shy, not grateful - nothing. They just trust each other.

Coming out of lurkdom to say that Stephane is absolutely one of the best skaters of all time IMHO. No words to describe his talent. He may be not the best jumper but when it comes to pure skating and interpretation of the music I do not think that anyone outside Shoma Uno in the current field could match his ability. This may be an unpopular opinion.... don't kill me, Hanyu fans. I love him as well, but Stephane is in a league of his own when it comes to interpretation. The fact the Yuna invited to All That Skate is pretty enormous.

Sorry, but Uno is not even close... not in breadth or depth...

Not so enormous for Stephane to be invited this time, considering that he has been at every All That Skate show, except the one two years ago when he couldn't go because of the Japanese Fantasy on Ice, + at the first two Yuna's shows before All That Skate. Of course, it can be said that that in itself is enormous.

Hi! I have a question for you... I started following figure skating this year and fell in love with Stéphane, I watched as many of his old videos I could, and I've seen that he already showed "slave to the music" in last year faoi show, so my question is: when will we see his new programs? For what I understand he changes them every year, right?

Edit: reading old posts (I'm so bad :hslap:), I guess "Read all about it" is already a new one... there will be others?

Kolyada on working with Lambiel on his choreography:

https://fs-gossips.com/mikhail-koly...-the-shock-that-i-experienced-in-pyeongchang/

"I know that after your first experience working with Stephane Lambiel last year you intended to go to him for a longer period. Why did not it work out?

– Because in the summer we planned to go not only to Shamperi to Stefan, but also to Raphael Arutyunyan in the US. Plus, I hadn’t got my master’s thesis. Last year I went to Switzerland with our choreographer Olga Klyushnichenko, this season we went with my coach Valentina Chebotareva and Stanislava Konstantinova. With the same team we went to Arutyunyan. Valentina Mikhailovna really wanted to see how these specialists work, I was only happy about it. Even the most ingenious specialist can’t know everything. We must constantly learn, note something for ourselves.

Once, Julia Lipnitskaya admitted that she was in shock from working with Stefan, how fast he improvised on the ice.

– Yes, there are such moments. But, since I have already worked with him I was ready for this style of work. This is very interesting actually. Because when you try to remember what and how Lambiel shows, knowing that the second time he can repeat all the steps completely differently this really develops the memory. But I agree with Julia. When Stefan makes a step sequence, this is a separate attraction.

How comfortable are the programs that he choreographed?

– On some things you need work for a quite long time. Sometimes Stefan warns that some transitions will be uncomfortable at first. The main thing is that he doesn’t try to fit everyone to himself. He choreographed all the movements so that it was comfortable and beautiful and looked as good as possible. Lambiel always makes a layout first. Then he puts the main elements – jumps, spins. And only then he starts to connect all this, wrap it with steps. It’s very comfortable to work with Lambiel even because he is always near on the skates."
