Yuna (ISU JGP channel got the name wrong in the title)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zZz6GLNztN0

Yuna got the 3Lz-3L ratified. If it were not for the popped A, perhaps she could be placed in top 3 for the SP. Nice job, Yuna, for the debuting performance at JGP. And good luck to both ladies at the FS.

NB1: Actually, I'm still a little worried about Yuna's new FS, it's not easy to skate to Rach 2, and it looks like she's still on the way of getting the 3T in jump combinations. But I hope she'll be able to hold and give a decent performance. I'd like to see her getting a 2nd JGP assignment.
NB2: On a side note, I'm curious to see if Wakaba will be inspired to add in a 3-3L combination in her FS after this. I remember Wakaba was talking about adding the element to her program. And we'll see it soon as Wakaba will compete in the local event (Tokyo Junior FS summer competitions) this coming weekend.

Sorry for Aoki and good for Sakamoto.

I wonder who will be sent to Austria along with Higuchi. Mihara is a bit threatening to Higuchi now. Russia is sending those two. I guess Sahanovich is tested by the Russian fed and they are putting her in tough events intentionally. The JSF switched Nagai and Nakashio last year. So some changes are possible. Nitaya, Sakamoto, or one of substitutes?

Marin is my favorite but I feel very anxious after seeing Aoki's poor performances. One good thing is that USA is a relatively "easy" event. I hope she can manage a podium position.

Higuchi is listed in a local competition in Tokyo. The SP are scheduled today and the FS tomorrow.

Poor Yuna.. She must have got nervous. The last spin was no-count.. No wonder considering her debut of JGS.

Thanks @NMURA, it is uncler whether she can get 2nd spot, or almost impossible?

Congrates Kaori! I’m happy for her. Her artistry and 3F3T! She got 1.2GOE.

From another thead, Thanks Sam-Skwantch!
If anyone is looking for something to kill a few minutes of time before this event starts or perhaps to return to during an ice resurfacing here is a quick Jumpamatron video of Yuna Aoki's jumps from the SP yesterday.

Sena Miyake and Kazuki Tomono's free programs at JGP Riga.
Not the best day for either of them, especially Kazuki.

Sena is a huge Daisuke Takahashi fan yet he's wearing a replica of Yuzuru's Romeo & Juliet 1 costume. This is a very demanding program and he's too young to perform it to its highest potential but maybe that's the idea behind Kenji's choreography, to make him improve from competition to competition.

Kazuki on the other hand tried some big jumps - 4S and 3A - but none were successful. In fact he made many other mistakes but kudos to him for choosing Indian music (although we've heard the Dola Re Dola song from the OST of the movie Devdas before in Davis & White's OD).

What a messy skate from Kazuki :hopelessness: It was too messy to see any signs of Machida in him.
Sena fought back in the second half but was it good enough to earn him a second chance at JGP this season?

Congratulations to Kaori on a silver medal.
So sad for Yuna but this experience will make her stronger for next time. I like how she put on a brave smiley face right after she teared up.
I saw her scores before her skate and was expecting the worst, but didn't think she did that badly.

Daichi lost his 2nd assignment at JGP Linz and he's been replaced by Taichi Honda.

It's understandable, but I hope Koshiro gets to keep his 2nd assignment unless someone else deserves it more.

Meanwhile, Wakaba just skated to her SP at a local competition. I was concerned when I heard that she withdrew from Asian Open Trophy due to injury but it sounds as though she had a perfect skate and scored 62.49 :cheer:

Congrats to Kaori! She really tried with the expression. Nice to see. It wasn't Yuna's day, but there is much to look forward to there.

Kabuki's skate was charming in places, but a bit of a mess with all the mistakes. Shame.

Loved Sena. He has to develop obviously, but I thought he was on the right path with trying to express that choreo.

Bit sad about Daichi losing his 2nd assignment. I hope Koshiro gets to keep his!

it broke my heart to see Yuna trying hard to hold back her tears and smiling, i just love her and this is just part of her learning process
congratz to Kaori for silver medal! i enjoyed her LP!!
Sena had some difficulties but he came back very strong, as i said in the JGP thread, i admire skater who can alter their programs after the mistakes and thats what he did!
about possibility of Koshiro losing his 2nd JGP, i dont think its gonna happen, he has highest FP score (too bad about SP mistake or else would have highest overall as well :p ) among Japanese men so far and if he skates clean it will only get better
appearently they are sending both marin and yuna to Spain, its gonna be interesting
and great to see Wakaba doing good :cheer:

Congratulation to Kaori. I think she has improved from last season. Yes, it's heartbreaking to see Yuna's reaction after her FS, yet she managed to smile afterwards. I hope the experience will help her get stronger.
BTW, this person has been at JGP Riga and taking photos around. There are a lot of behind the scene photos posted in her tweeter, and also in the following link(mainly photos for team Japan):

I didn't follow novice skaters so I had no idea who Koshiro was until last year in November when he was invited to Stephane's show in Switzerland. Then they showed a news report about him and Sena Miyake and found out he was a Tatsuki Machida fan and they exchanged text messages which I thought was very cute.

Loved his Chaplin FS, he is very expressive and has a solid jump technique. He has lots of charisma. I think there's a bright future ahead of him.

I first saw Koshiro Shimada at the Novice A - Nationals 2013 on YouTube, but I'm afraid it has been deleted

I only found it on Nico Nico Video.

Does anyone know any other video site that has the same?

There's a link that matmuh posted before that doesn't work on my computer but I think it's from the same broadcast.

here is video of Koshiro's LP from last year's novice nationals

i love how much fun he is having and his face after performance

I also found this link with a video that seems to be from a FC2 site.

And while I'me at it, here is Wakaba's FS from the same program.

Quoting myself but I looked up her score from the same competition last year and she got 62.12 so it probably wasn't a perfect skate yesterday.

And she just scored 117.88 for her FS. She went for the 3Lz-3Lo! (stepped out on the 3Lo I think)

Thank you, mikaboo :yay:

I love to watch junior skaters are improving.

Me too! It'll be exciting to see how Koshiro and Sena will develop over the next few seasons and if they'll have any success in the senior field. Please let me know if you find any other promising young skaters from TJ in the future :)
-----

Sena is back in Japan.
Otsukaresama everyone!

Marin is already in the US.
Looks like she was given a menu for little kids.

And Sota and Mitsuki are on their way.

Good luck boys and girls!

News clip about the 10th year of Shizuka's Friends on Ice.
We can see a little bit of Shizuka/Stephane, Satoko/Yamato, Rika/Akiko collabs. at the beginning, and also a younger Yuzuru and a very young Rika in there as well.

Same here. It is sure to be exciting seeing them these days as there seems to be many promising young skaters in TJ.

I really wish all of skating talents (both Japanese and non-Japanese) would keep improving without any health issues and will make the figure skating world more exciting and interesting place.
