Last year I sat in section 209 and I loved it because it's in the middle of the long side. I'm trying to get a seat from that section or section 210 this year too. Plus, there's a corridor/hall/whatever behind those sections where I saw and met many skaters when they were streching and warming up, for example Tessa and Scott. :)

Welcome to Finland! And let's hope many great skaters come to Finlandia. :)

We got ours today from section 208 which is on the right end of the long side. I'm assuming the judges are also on this side.

The Lippupalvelu system was weird in that it just suggested some section number and seats for you and you had to choose from them. There was no arena map, which would've been useful. I was just way too tired at 9 this morning to dig out that map from the arena website.... But here it is for you who have yet to book your tix ;)

They are, judges' stand is in front of sections 209-210.
At 9:30 it was already impossible to get two tickets in those sections. We also ended up in section 208 :) And I agree, that system without a seat plan was quite a pain in the youknowwhere.

Does anyone know when the skaters are announced who will come?
Cause i really really want to go, but it's a long drive and i want to know there's gonna be top skaters (YUZU ) there. Of course it's not certain even then (injuries etc) but still....

The deadline for entries to Finlandia is not until 25th August, so the official list of competitors won't be out until some time after that.

The Japanese press already announced that Hanyu intends to go:

(That would be his 3rd year in a row)

There may be similar announcements from other skaters/countries, I don't know.

Julia participated during the last two seasons so I think there's a good chance she will compete this year, too!

Yeah, that would be her 3rd year in a row too! She won it every time so far.

It's possible I could see her skate 3 times this year, if she goes to Finlandia - I already have tickets for Trophee Eric Bompard, and the Grand Prix Final...

Oh, that would be a great chance to see the improvement in her programs, too... Lucky you!

Yulia's coach Eteri mentioned in interview that Yulia was invited to Japan Open which is one week before Finlandia Trophy. So she'd quite likely choose JO over FT :rolleye:

Why do you think she'd choose Japan Open, over Finlandia?

I would have thought the opposite - Finlandia is a "proper" competitive warmup for the GP series (both SP and FS), and an opportunity to boost world standings?

I agree but since she won't be in Japan this year it's a chance to build on her reputation there which is quite high ATM. I link Finlandia too but including Japan has her covering most of the hotspots and gives her a chance to build on her fan base.

Well, Eteri in her interview (which was taken evening of that day when Yulia's official vk comm asked to share music and ideas for FS) said "Yulia is supposed to premiere her new FS at Japan Open, but if we won't be ready in time she won't take part in it. After it we plan to compete at GP".
Now it looks like Yulia settled with Mulan FS, so probably she'll go to JO.

Maybe I'm wrong and it's just my speculation, but in one of spring interviews (don't ask me in what exactly, I won't be able to recall it) Yulia sounded bitter about not being invited to any ice shows in Japan. So if she got that chance to go to Japan again, she'll grab it IMO.
I'd love to see her (and Yuzuru too, huh) at both JO and FT, but it doesn't seem possible.

Heh, you nailed it :-D Now please tell me this week's lottery numbers ;-D

Some recent news from the Finlandia Farcebook page:

"Can you knit? If yes, we challenge you to knit Finlandia Trophy 2014 mittens and send them to Finnish Figure Skating Association, Radiokatu 20, 00093 VALO Finland no later than October 8th. Or bring them with you once you arrive to Barona Arena and hand them to the organizators of the event. Don´t forget to enclose your personal info (name, address, email etc). Snapshots will be posted to the Facebook page. If you are lucky you may hand out the mittens personally to the Finlandia Trophy 2014 winners!"

Yes, you could end up personally handing some mittens to Yuzuru, or who-knows-who-else...! Better order that book "how to knit, for absolute beginners" real quick, they could soon be sold out at Amazon... ;-D

PS. "organizators" LOL
(Reminds me of "Trogdor the Burninator"...)
