Ediit: Also now found another TikTok with Zhenya with 1Million views showing Zhenya's tough training and injured leg before the Olympics and then her crying at the Olympics. I am emo now :(

I can watch the Olympic FS now (wasn’t always like this, yes I’m emo too lol when it comes to her) but there‘s that one Japanese documentary from the months before the OG and I tried watching it recently... impossible. It was emotional in a very dark way and it was hard seeing Zhenya in such a bad place mentally and physically. There was a scene with her - fresh from injury - falling from a spin, some federation guys watching, their arms crossed and that kind of expression on their face that just tells you everything you need to know. This is what gets me every time. Seeing, knowing, that even they‘d lost hope. And that somehow Zhenya, a barely 18 year old, malnourished, badly injured teenager managed to drag her body to the Olympics and perform flawlessly. The strength to do that, to achieve her dreams. Unreal.

And she‘s inspired so many people all over the world with not just her skating but her character. Just leaving this here:

I really like this take:

I also saw a picture of her ending poses over the years and it was striking how much healthier she looked in the last one. But for the life of me I can‘t find it right now.

The TikTok I mentioned showed exactly that documentary, hence me being so emo :(
It is really hard to watch Zhenya struggling with her injury before and during the Olympics and knowing everything she went through.
That twitter post you posted really sums up a lot of thoughts I had the past few months regarding the media....

Yes :) , Zhenya inspires so many. I just remembered a cute story I read a few weeks ago about a twitter user's niece falling in love with Zhenya after seeing a photo of her on her aunt's phone. Here is the story:

"I’ll share a little story: my baby niece, she is now 3 years and 8 months old, likes to delve into my phone, and at some point asked about one of the photos "who is that?" I replied that Zhenya is the best skater.
The small one demanded to see more of Zhenya - I turned on the first show under Sailor Moon - she was delighted (now I’m waiting with Alik for delivery of her Sailor Moom suit) then included Karenina and Memoirs. About Karenina, the child asked afterwards "Why is she crying she is so beautiful" while I sat choked with tears. About Memoirs she said - "Zhenya is serious" (Serious is just a new word that she recently learned) And every time I visit my niece - she has her first desire - show how Zhenya skates.
(Showed) my favorite GIFs from a workshop in Mexico. I'm so moved with her.
When she grows up - I’ll definitely bring her to see her beloved Zhenya live. Therefore, Evgenia Armanovna, please skate for a long, long time as you promised, a little girl Dasha from Russia really wants to grow up faster and see your skating live."

I saw that Japanese documentary only once because it's so hard to watch. In fact, the part of the guys from the federation looking at is like it was that moment when the final decision had been made, it’s the moment when you understand everything. Of course, I think nobody expected that Zhenya in her health conditions would have the incredible performance that she had in the Olympics.

But what is incomprehensible is all the dirt that came after the Olympics. I can understand that to secure the gold they drop her hand. But I can’t understand the launch of the campaign of hatred, humiliation and public scorn to which they have subjected her and which keep going until today in a way that is scary. Because those feelings didn’t arise in large part from the Russians on their own, that was organized and fed and after almost 3 years I have no doubt that it will continue to be so. And worst of all, unfortunately there will be nothing that can repair that damage.

And regarding the Olympic FS, I don't have the same courage as you Fluture. I still can't see it.

Aw, that‘s so adorable. I have another story here that‘s very similar. It‘s about a girl named Alice who started skating just because of Zhenya. There‘s a pretty long interview with her mom and some of the things she says... like, how Alice tries to be as strong as Zhenya, wanted to learn the Salchow first because it‘s Zhenya‘s favorite, was absolutely delighted whe she found the Pantene shampoo with Zhenya‘s image on it and begged her mom to buy it. So precious and just proves the point again and again: Zhenya inspires people, young or old.

Also, throwback to all the magazine covers Zhenya was on. What‘s your favorite? I love the Tatler one. The Elle girl had an interesting interview but they really overdid it a bit with the photoshop.

And then there is my favorite shoot of all time, the one she did with Vogue. The pictures were just gorgeous and really captured the balance between beauty and athleticism.

Definitely the Vogue one is the best. And the last magazine, not sure of the name, she looked really natural.

Finally an update from Zhenya!! :yahoo:

Showing her training with Brian via Skype.

I love the focus both of them have but it’s also incredibly amusing that someone used a phone to record them training via FT/Skype on a phone. It’s smart for her to have the wireless headphones and the system of motioning to see the screen when he is demonstrating something to her.

I don’t have much hope for the first half of the season but this boosted my spirits
