Maybe the Danse avec les Stars people nudged him into it.... that said, he doesn't seem overly reluctant.

I suppose the proof of the pudding will be if he continues to update after Danse is done.

He did "I gotta feeling" in the 2nd half of the show, according to AbsoluteSkating. I hope he retires that one soon. :slink:

I finally watched "I gotta feeling"... and I must agree with Gallavich. :slink:

Cool jacket, but the song is a big no.

Lord of the Dance was fun! Just wish it were longer.

I know - me too. It's a good sign in a way I supoose when one's reaction at the end is: "It's finished? Why is it finished? Where's the rest of it?"

Is there an instance where he skated the LP version of that music (Lord of the Dance) cleanly? I like the program, but Europeans and Olympics versions were...

And now it's back in exhibition but down to SP length.

What did I tell you! Didn't I tell you so?! Ha! They just don't want to see him in a suit! I do! In the training vid she was telling Brian how this was the first time that there was going to be "danse classique" on Danse avec les Stars - of coure it is! All to get Brian into a pair of tights - mark my words!

I guess the episode has already aired today and the dance has been uploaded by LMDJ here. Hmm...I realize he only had 4 days, so he wasn't exactly going to give the Bolshoi dancers a run for their money. That's ok, I can forgive a lot with that costume. But I would think he might have had a few ballet lessons sometime during the course of his long skating career, surely. They gave out separate artistic & technical marks this time & he didn't do so hot on the technique.

And here's one more gratuitous photo - I hope you have smelling salts nearby, Meoima. :laugh:

What is that tattoo on his side? Looks like a squid or an octupus?

Finally caught up with Brian’s Danse avec les stars happenings. In case anyone’s interested, some interesting tidbits from this week’s ballet dance (my French is pretty terrible; I apologize in advance if this is completely wrong):

During the training:
Katrina: This outfit only means one thing: classical dance (likely French term for ballet). This is the first time it’ll be on Danse avec les stars.
Brian: Oh… this will be a catastrophe. (In the solo interview, he calls it a “nightmare.”)
…
Katrina: I think classical dance is the most technical dance.
....
Brian: I don’t quite have the… physique… for a ballet dancer?
Katrina: How so?
Brian: I’m too… buff.
Katrina: Have you seen ballet dancers, the male ones? They have muscles just like you.

He has trouble getting the necessary lift when practicing the tiptoeing. He explains that he’s been in skates for years, and in skates your feet are always (ideally) flat.
Katrina: Okay, we’re going to walk around like this (on tiptoes) for a while. It looks ridiculous, but whatever.
Brian: (walks with her for a while) This really is ridiculous.

The judges generally appreciated how much they accomplished in four days. The first judge considers ballet the technical basis of all dance; trying to learn that in four days is like trying to study up to university in that amount of time. The female judge said that Brian’s arms are quite nice; the problem is his legs, since the extension there simply can’t be learned in four days. Another judge says he really respects Brian for daring to go out there in those tights.

After the scores were given, the host asked Brian if he was disappointed. He said no, he understands why the judges feel there’s a lot of improvement to be done. And then more compliments about his state of (un)dress.

Well to be honest, Katrina didn't look much like a ballerina either. Actually if Brian had partnered with a real ballerina, the performance would have looked much better. It's kind of funny that now that his competitive figure skating career is over, he finally tries these kind of dances that probably would have helped him a lot during his competitive days.

ETA - Well, that wasn't that bad... at least he didn't go out there and fall flat on his face. And the artistic marks were good - and I'd say 6s and 7s in technical weren't bad for a ballet - at least it wasn't 3s or 4s or something so.... yeah. Oh, and I really liked the music.

Yes, I believe the cast is rehearsing in Moscow as we speak...Yana & a couple other skaters have posted on IG from the rink, and Johnny's there as well.

Thank you for translating, Sandpiper. It sounds like Brian hasn't even watched much ballet...a lot of the male dancers are very buff indeed. Much moreso than your typical male figure skater (well, singles skaters anyway).

How do we get Plushy into a pair of tights now? :slink:
