New interview "Karen Chen Seeks Fresh Start in Colorado Springs"

http://www.usfigureskatingfanzone.c...n-chen-seeks-fresh-start-in-colorado-springs/

I saw this article on the US Ladies thread. I also mention that it’s interesting she didn’t mentioned about Alex O as per of trying out new coaches. And she didn’t mentioned if Tammy is her main coach, so we will figure out this mystery next month in US classic along with her FS!

Speaking of FS, I can’t wait to see that consider she has Marina and Rohene working on that!!!

Too bad it didn't work out with Alex, but I think it's understandable. I wish she mentioned some progress she did with him though. I'm not sure about her having multiple coaches, but Colorado Springs a really great place for her. Hopefully in the future she gets Tom Dickson to choreo.

I am still worried and wondering about Karen.☹️ No one seems to know anything concrete. She isn’t much of a discussion right now because she’s kinda been radio silent (all the US ladies have been.) I’m just hoping she isn’t seriously injured.

She's still wearing the boot, but she did post a vid of her doing some foot training with a band. Her ankle still looked swollen.

Karen Chen may have withdrawn from Rostelecom, her only Grand Prix event.

She posted about it yesterday -- but then she quickly deleted her Instagram post. Earlier this season, she also withdrew from the Finland GP.

I am also intrigued, I saw the publication and I checked the entries page of Rostelecom and until the last update the name of Karen continues there (08/11/2018)

Sometimes I think she might be thinking about trying other skating alternatives (maybe with her brother?)

I hope she is well, she is a great skater :hap10:

Has she participated in anything thus far? I want to know what her programs even are. :eek:hwell:

She performed her new short at Tallinn Trophy. I see the potential for a good program, but she was so far off of her usual form that it was difficult to make any particular judgment. She withdrew before the free skate. (People are already rushing to condemn her, but it seems obvious to me that she was simply too injured to compete).

Maybe it's the acoustics making it sound worse, but I think she needs a different version of the song. Some parts just sound chaotic and grating. Or it could just be me. Or it could be her lack of speed and urgency (doubled by the choreography) making it worse. The program itself probably could use more depth and flair from her, and some better choreography in general.

The jumps... I really hope it's not too late to fix them. Her 2A is one of the best in the world, and her Lutz when she hits it is too (if not the best in the world), but the amount of time she delays really probably should have been corrected when she was much younger. :palmf:

Love her come back programs... looks like she is rediscovering her original skating inner voice. Contemporary classic North American style... so many nice positions and moment. Spins, spirals, big delayed big jumps, that is musically nuanced and interpreted. Slowly but shortly come back stronger to the US Nationals?

Well done Karen! Keep fighting for the PCS score, you deserve them!
