She has the vibe of Kwan!

Actually when I watched Karen's FS at US Nationals, her speed and attack and flow across the ice, her expression, the huge lutzes, the red hair accessory, the music and costume, I was reminded of Yuna's World 2007 SP performance. So excited to see Karen progress to fulfilling her full potential. :)

I mean her side eye. When she looked at Polina's score. Oh that look! :drama:

I totally agree! Something else she shares with Yuna are great music choices for the most part. Hope she keeps it up! Both Requiem and Godfather are wonderful and accentuating pieces, and not totally overused.

Thanks! I added all your lovely file to the OP.

And I added one or two little extras I found, too.

Love her white dress. Wonder if they will develop that into a short program, without the words, just the music. She hasn't announced her short yet right?

Look forward to see the video of her other program.

Some nice photos from Artistry on Ice - Taipei Stop has been uploaded onto Karen's own personal blog

Michelle Kwan would have been so proud

This is a great blog post written by Karen's dad recalling her story (In Chinese only but try google translate) that is worth a read. It was written when she was 11 years old and recalls when she first started skating.

http://ohshoot.pixnet.net/blog/post/29842948

Karen has been described a caring and thoughtful girl growing up but happen to be incredibly introverted and shy (which I'd never have guessed watching her perform, the girl seems fearless). Around age 6, her parents became really concerned and wanted her to develop self esteem, confidence, social skills by take her to try all sort activities like group swimming lessons, but without any success. She refused to go into the water stood next to the pool for more than 20 minutes each time despite parents/coaches best efforts and pleading (ahaaa... stubborn too!). It happened 3 times, and in the 3rd time she cried her eyes out when the swimming coach managed convince (or is that he just dropped her) her into the pool without the parents being there (who were told to wait in the car park, after giving up and letting the coach to give it a go). They simply give up swimming all together.

Her parents then tried many other interests like piano, paintings, percussion instruments and they found out she just don't do well in group activities but some how took ice eventually, especially having found a coach she liked on a 1 to 1 basis instead of group sessions. This coach suggested competition when she was 6, much to the parents fear and anxiety 'fall or no fall', but something amazing happened at her first competition, Karen did everything like she was supposed to like in the practice, the parents both jumped/hugged each other for joy 'No fall'! The coach came back to them relief like just completed a tough mission, and they were surprised to have found little Karen really pleased and said she enjoys the competition and the feeling and wants to do some more! They start to compete more, and it brought big change to her personality, that opens her up to have grown in confidence and more willingness to take up new interests and challenges. The parents were amazed, she is even able to present herself for TV interviews and did things the parents never though they could do themselves.

Pretty cute story.

from photos, Karen really grew and matured a lot. Worried a bit about her puberty issue. But jumps (lutz, loop and 2A) all seems very stable from this show. And indeed a very very high split jump!! her spiral sequence from all fancam angles are indeed very impressive.
fancam quality is not good enough for detailed view. but seems choreo is a bit generic. Consider it is a rather short collaboration with local singers, it is understandable. One small detail I liked of her choreo is use of Chinese fans behind her back.
Modified Qibao is a very good idea. And the white Qibao dress is already very pretty. At first glance of low quality fancam, I thought it is a similar style to a choker dress (my fav and you know why:p). But close-up, it indeed have some Qibao element at the collar.
I wish Karen good luck in her senior debut season. and perhaps bring something truly Chinese in her future endeavor.
and also, Karen's interview is very cute, I didnot expect her can speak Chinese that well with that cute Taiwan accent.

They announcer jokingly said they may develop the fan program into a competitive program. May be... interesting idea, but hope there's an orchestral version of the music available. Definitely improve the choreography, especially how is it going to work out fans?.

I agree with you the generics, she landed literally a day before the show, I wonder how much time they had practice... glad it is so well received though. Nice home party for her.
