Haven Denney & Brandon Frazier are pair skaters representing the USA. They are two-time Skate America silver medalists (2014, 2016), Skate America bronze medalists (2019), the 2017 U.S. national champions, and the 2013 World Junior champions.

Denney was born on 28 October 1995 in Ocala, Florida, USA.

Frazier was born on 19 November 1992 in Phoenix, Arizona, USA.

Denney and Frazier reteamed in May 2011 after skating together from 2005-08. Both started as roller skaters and competed together in Pairs before switching to ice in 2004. He started roller skating in 1998. She was the 2003 US Roller Skating silver medalist in pairs. Denney's older sister Caydee competed in Pair Skating at the world level and is the 2012 U.S. Champion (with John Coughlin). Denney's parents, Bryan and Dee Dee, were national roller skating champions, and her father placed third at the World Championships in singles. The couple missed the 2015/16 season as Denney suffered an injury to her knee.

As of 2019/2020 season they are coached by John Zimmerman (their former coach), Jeremy Barrett and Silvia Fontana. The list of their former coaches includes such names as: Ingo Steuer, Dalilah Sappenfield, Jim Peterson, Lyndon Johnston, Rockne Brubaker and Stefania Berton.

Haven Denney and Brandon Frazier

Congrats to them on the best US pairs GP finish since Keauna and Rockne's silver at SA 2008. Hoping Haven and Brandon can build on this as they go forward this season. With Steuer now on their team, the future is looking very bright.

I've always liked them but the Lion King program has made me an uber fan. It's amazing how a great program can really elevate skaters.

So impressed with their Skate America performance. It is the highest GP finish for a US team since 2008. With results like this, they deserve their own thread!!

Caydee Denney was in the audience cheering for her sister [at Skate America]:

I couldn’t feel my legs — my heart was pumping out of my chest. It’s just so different being on the other side of it since it is out of your control. Haven was there for me when we were younger at big competitions, so I finally have that chance to be there for her and support her. It’s just so cool watching her succeed in accomplishing her goals and achieving her dreams.

It has always been my dream to skate to “The Lion King” — even back when I was skating with Jeremy and then with John, but I could never find an instrumental version that worked. Then this year when lyrics were allowed and I was injured, I thought that if anybody was going to skate to “The Lion King,” it was going to be my sister. It’s a kind of a ‘she lives in you’ kind of moment.”

Gosh I am holding my breath and hoping to not get my hopes up too far, but this team is certainly off to a very exciting start.
Ingo Steuer is clearly going to be quite the kindling for more who are looking for experienced, world class guidance in this arguably most tenuous of disciplines.

Great start! Thrilled for them.

Copying over burnt's post from the Injuries thread (thank you):

Per clairecloutier on FSU, here are some updates on Haven Denney, including a Facebook post by Brandon on their page:

"
https://www.facebook.com/526823654090970/photos/pcb.688414237931910/688412751265392/?type=1&theater

Haven & Brandon posted some pictures of Haven before/after surgery.

They said she sustained this injury recently while warming up off-ice."

That's incredibly unlucky that she injured herself warming up, which is supposed to be the thing you do to AVOID injury. On the other hand, she seems to be progressing rather well and injury likely is not some impact or trauma-related injury (like a horrible fall on the ice or whatnot). Still, really unlucky and I hope that she can recover quickly and fully! Brandon seems like an awesome partner and friend to have.

Not complaining, but I can't figure out how to make the first photo collage big enough to easily read the top right block of text.

What I have been able to make out (just from that one block) -- corrections welcome (I have taken the liberty of tweaking some punctuation):

Haven underwent surgery on April 27, 2015. She sustained an injury on her right knee a few days earlier while we were warming up off the ice. It's only been 4 days since the injury, and Haven has demonstrated how strong she is physically and emotionally. We are so appreciative of the notes and messages received, and it really has helped us feel the support that we have. We want to share a bit of the past week's journey, and we plan to continue this as Haven progresses through her rehab. Although this detour has been put in our path, we know that the ups and downs of our path continue to make us stronger as a Team. We both know that together we can conquer anything.

Tobin Heath once said: "Obviously in the world of sports, you go through different ups and downs than in normal life. You might be on top of the world playing or sidelined with an injury. Your teammates see you through the good and the bad. They see where your foundation lies in those moments.

We are a team, and this quote is how we embrace everything we do.

Check in with us as we will do our best to let you in through Haven's recovery process, and hope to have you ride this wave we currently are on.

For those not familiar with FB, three more photo collages related to Haven's injury/recovery (in addition to the one in burnt's post) are grouped together at this link:
(Clicking will make each one bigger, but the first one still is a struggle for my eyes.)

Best to Haven.
Love Brandon's comments on the strength of their partnership and on his admiration for her.

Denney/Frazier weren't assigned any GPs this season, and I'm assuming it's because they withdrew (they have the scores and rankings to earn two, and they were for sure guaranteed one)... :slink: Better safe than sorry, though, especially after we've seen how Caydee Denney's recovery from her injury has pretty much become indefinite. Hopefully we'll see a quick and full recovery for Haven!
