When I saw young Misha in the documentary it also took me a moment to recognize it was him, and not a girl. I don't mean anything negative by that, only that he was...dare I say, "pretty," (beautiful even) and very graceful in his movement. And he's still good-looking as a young man, of course.

Translation of Misha's part in the Ge Sha's documentary 4:30 -6:30:

Compared to him (Ge Sha), little grandchild Ge Misha's childhood was much more fortunate. Nurtured and influenced by the family, naturally talented Misha was already performing on ice at just 5 years of age, his zeal certainly not less than Gandpa's and Dad's. (Misha's skate at 5 is shown.)

"The first day on ice I was afraid to skate, just standing on ice too scared to move. My Mom said, "Go go go, Go forward a little." Go go go, I wouldn't go no matter how they pushed me. My Mom said, "Go go go. Quick, quick. I'll give you some yummy, give you some yummy." No no no. Won't go won't go. I was just too afraid to go. If I went, I splatted. And splatted. At that time I couldn't even stand up. After the competition, they wanted me to perform, saying, "Just go up there and skate anyway you want." My Dad found me some music. So I just skated with the music. Then I just wanted to dash forward as fast as I could, as long as I felt that it looked good. It should be OK as long as the speed was fast. I had seen they had fast speed. I was small so I wanted to have fast speed too. So I just dashed forward with all my might, not caring if I would fall or not, just dashing ahead. When I finished, they said, "Heh, this kid is interesting. So small on the ice but rather fast."

The whole family support Misha's talent and interest.......

The video continues with how the elder Ge experienced obstruction from his father.

I wrote in 2012 that Misha looked about 10 in the documentary. However, upon recent reviewing, I believe he was older than that. I don't remember how I got the impression the show was aired in 2005 but I just searched and found the transcript of the program dated 2005-04-19. Misha should therefore be about 13 in the documentary.

Misha on Kings on Ice:

(Note: the second link was first posted by plushyfan in the Plushy fan fest thead.)
Why does one of the poses remind me of Liza's exhibition? (But I love, love, love his bit in the opening.)

I wonder, what does Misha need in future seasons? I honestly thought he deserved medals on the GP circuit and a spot in GPF since he skated clean (while quad guys faltered). But clean programs don't seem enough/valued these days...

(Nonetheless, he's made great technical improvements already this season, and I'm pleased with how far he's come.)

Well, a quad wouldn't hurt of course...but if he hasn't got one by now, I don't know how feasible that is. He'll be 24 in a couple months. Barring that, reputation would help, and if he keeps on doing what he's been doing, then I would think his PCS scores can only improve.

He did make a comment on one of his IG photos not too long ago - I'm paraphrasing, but it was something like "one never knows how many competitions they have left in their career." It made me wonder if he is contemplating retiring. Hopefully not too soon, although he would certainly be an in-demand show skater if he went pro.

For the quad - who knows? How old is Peter Liebers? - I don't think I've ever seen him attempt a quad before (obligatory reminder: my shoddy sieve-like memory) - but then, there he was. last year, doing one. I was really surprised.

I think Misha's jumping has come a long way this year - I never used to feel even remotely secure about his jumps before; now they look much, much more stable. I think he must have put in lots of work. So, maybe next year - the quad? At this point, seeing the improvements he's made - I wouldn't count out the possiblity. Had anyone suggested it last year however... well...

i think i heard BESP guys was saying he had planned one at COC for FP but he changed it last minute (and he zayaked because of it), i hope he adds it next year, this year seems long shot but with the progress he made this season i cant see why not add it

Edit: he also planned one for SP but didnt attemp it

Unless there's a injury, I really hope he doesn't consider retiring! With all the technical improvements he's made this year, it would be such a shame if he never even got a GP medal.

Last year, I never would've contemplated Misha getting a quad. But somehow he stabilized his jumps this year. The 3A still looks scary, but he's landing it consistently. And if he's working on the quad in practice... But to be fair, if it weren't for Zayaking, he'd already have a GP medal.
