And cough, cough, ksu, you have had a world and olympic champion, and now you have a top skater in jr men along with promising ladies, it's time you tried harder to support figure skating and stop sabotaging your own skaters, get it together.

I was hoping for either Dabin or Nahyun to get the top Korean SP Score today but nope, Eunsoo still has the highest one.

I do think both were scored right. But maybe a bit more for Nahyun....

Thought this girl was quite good in the recent domestic competition- her name is lee hae in.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u8tJXwe2_Ek
She's in 5th grade, so probably about 11 years old. I think she has nice attack- I liked how she performed her stsq in particular. Nothing wrong with her technique, I think she just slows down to much before the jumps. Less hesitation and she could get more rotations in, including a 3-3. Pretty promising for her age!

From the competition for young skaters:
Lee Hae in's sp, no sound b/c of copyright :( But yay for a 3-3, even though the rotation is iffy. As I said, she needs less hesitation going into her jumps.

Kam yun kyung- 3f-3t with rippon arms! Good heavens, she needs to work on getting into her program, the expressiveness(selling the movements). But, arguably the best spins of the korean ladies(hands down best layback), and love her jumps.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rMRX8rRQKFs
You Young- her speed and presentation is really a class above the other korean ladies bar so youn. Just a problem on the 3-3.

Kam yun kyung's fs- I just love this girl for some reason. She very mechanical and awkward in her presentation and upper body movement, but she looks so hard-working it's adorable. And her jumps make me happy, especially her 2a(transitions in/out of the solo and in combo-), lol. Speed is actually not bad for a korean skater her age. And I can't stop talking about her spins, especially the layback- it's just so good for a Korean lady! Sorry, to all my favorites... lol.

Lee hae in- even younger than young and yun kyung(born in 2005). Needs more confidence going into the jumps, some more innate/natural expression(in movements, not just face)Nice to see all these promising young skaters come up. If the fed was only half as competent enough to help grow their skating better. The talent is clearly there, it's kind of frustrating that there aren't better domestic resources to improve on ss/presentation, since most can't afford to train overseas, especially early on.

eta: hae in shows some good potential in her stsq. Some nice edges there for her age.

Curious, does anyone know exactly what happened? I'm guessing she botched her first 3Lo attempt and thought it just wouldn't fulfill a jump pass (not just the score getting nullified) so attempted another 3Lo as the second jump pass (the solo jump) but can't confirm it as I can't find any videos of this comp except Jun-Hwan Cha's on YT.

Here`s all vids I gathered ;) http://www.goldenskate.com/forum/sh...mp-Oct-14-16&p=1509037&viewfull=1#post1509037

She couldn`t do her loop becuz of some reason, and fall, so she got up and did it again. But judges think she already did attempt 3Lo and invalidated her second loop attempt (which she did great). So it should be 2A for the third jump, but she did 3Lo as I told, so the last 2A go invalidated again. So 51 points for short...:palmf:

Thanks for the info, I didn't think about looking for a thread for this competition in the competition subforum. Those youtube videos have titles all in Korean except with the skaters' names in English, no wonder I couldn't find them under the youtube search with my language skill :) Watched the video and yeah that's what I thought happened, but just as you explained, that triple penalty really hurts on the protocol sheet... But I'm surprised that she only had 1.00 deduction though, she fell on that single loop and she also ended her final spin way after the music ended.

I think maybe she didn`t end that late? (even her music ended before she finished her last spin..) Anyway it was close..

To tell you the truth I forgot what the ISU rule says about how many seconds a skater is allowed to be behind the music at the end.
Anyways, so far Eunsoo has made a better impression internationally with the JGP events and consequently got more popularity as far as I can tell from the English comments on youtube and here in GS, so, as someone who's inclined to cheer for underdogs I'm hoping Yelim and her coach work on her presentation side while improving her jump consistency. (And better music choices and choreo in the future.)

There's news from KSU.

They announced that they will adjust 'Trimmed mean rules' from 17-18 season at all important domestic competitions, since fairness becomes very important to pick who to represent 2018 PC olympics.

And these important domestic competitions they refer, is below 4.

1) Jr Grand prix Qualification event and 1st Qualification event for 2018 olympics. ---> I think this mean they now try to make senior skaters participate to this event, and use this event as one of qualification events for olympics.

2) 2nd Qualification event for 2018 olympics. ---> Maybe new event will be created?

3) Ranking Competition and 3rd Qualification event for 2018 olympics.

4) 2018 Korean Nationals. ---> I think this is only one which is not qualification events for olympics.

Now skaters should have to do good at all 3 events, if they want to go to PC.
I think this can be good to pick a skater who do great always, but this also means that skaters can get fatigue fast (even before their olympics.)
And also skaters who trained overseas, like Dabin and Jun hwan, may have difficulties to adjust many flyings they have to do.. (US/Canada<->Korea)

And this also mean if So youn wants to go to PC, she has to do three great performances at three events..:noshake:

That's nothing new. :palmf: Typical KSU. We're in 2016 and yet they're still the same.

ksu is trying really hard to outdo the ffsg... :sarcasm:
Makes me want to personally go to korea and slap these overcooked officials. Yeah, why don't we make our athletes compete in a dozen useless domestic competitions to wear them out, great idea...

I for one really rooting for Cha to do better but I don't think there will be another Kim Yu-Na anytime soon. Sadly all the senior korean men and women don't make an impact in the sports IMO. Cha and Young You made some but they are in juniors and by the time of olympics only Cha is qualified I think. And truth is Cha can't win against the big boys yet.
