IMHO, the KSU should be doing all they can to help So Youn get to the top because she has the most potential to do that right now. Or at least trying to find any other promising younger ladies besides HJ even though she is lovely

Lol I think KSU is definitely on that. Now all we need to do is pray/hope that they survive puberty.
Skaters that are at SY and HJ's age group didn't really do well because of it (and the lack of what constitutes of a good jump technique).

from this instagram photo, seems, korean skaters is training with this guy right now. who is it and, where is it.
btw, I watched SoYoun's ex (cor I dreamed a dream) again as well as some other skaters of similar age. SoYoun's performance is levels ahead of those who have much higher PCS(and alleged artistic)...if we are talking about real artistry, musicality, dance and interpretation.
usually this is where my frustration at...
I hope gems like this be recognized by more people. and SoYoun will not be buried next season, she shouldnot be buried.

They worked with Maurizio Margaglio last week for skating lessons in Taerung rink. I believe KSU also brought Kim/Minov to Korea as well so they could train with him and the other seniors.

And yes, her Les Mis is an understated gem. No fuss or anything in it, but the beauty of gentleness coming alive. A rare quality in this season.

Does anyone know if another someone other than Hae Jin (and of course SY Park) will go for any of the Grand Prix events? Do they have any eligible juniors good enough to move up to Seniors next season?

Song Joo Chea? I don't think Da Bin will move up to seniors yet.

Is there anyone high up on the SB or WR list? SY has 2, HJ'll probably get one and some Senior Bs, Choi could do JGP and some Senior Bs, and are any of the guys moving up?

Yeah, it reminded me of the way Wakaba Huguchi's EX was totally underrated even though it was hands down the most beautiful and mature performance out of all the junior ladies.

There so many young skaters in Korea. Has anyone considered putting together a Korean synchro team? A synchro team is a reasonable thing for a corporation to support. That was how Team Russia 1 made the podium this year, corporate sponsorship over a period of years. Just a thought...

Have you guys read this?

:( felt sad reading this part, hoping this changes:

"At an official meeting last December at which members of the Korea Olympic Committee (KOC) were present, the KSU predicted no medals for Korea in figure skating at the 2018 PyeongChang Games"

The Olympics is still in three years and I think they can still make a lot of progress until then. So far, I know it'll be hard for them right now since they are facing tough competitions, but still....

Ah yes! Korea does have synchro teams! I believe they are mostly junior and novice teams at the moment. It's cool that a lot more skaters are opting to join synchronized skating.

Does KSU not know that part of the reason their predictions are like that is because of themselves? Like Song Joo said, they need to have better training environments for Korean figure skaters. Maybe KSU thought the skaters could be like Yuna, who used to train at amusement park rinks and won a world bronze at the age of 16. Yuna is a different skater. Not everyone can or should be just like her.

I agree! KSU really needs to wake up and see how figure skating (or any skating sport) is like in Korea. And that prediction could've been solved if they paid attention more and at an earlier time. Soyoun and the other skaters would've been able to be get more success if they had the resources and the support. Sigh, I would love for SK to become successful like Japan did for their ladies.

Now, I will give the KSU props for trying to actually get the young ones to better training areas and bring technical + skating coaches in Korean rinks now that PC 2018 is getting closer. I am wondering if they could even make the games seeing that a lot of the high potential ones (except So-Hyun and Jun-Hwan) have yet to start skating in the JGP circuit. hoping that they do, b/c it's still an amazing experience to compete in their home games

When is Da Bin moving to Seniors internationally?

I thought she was pretty impressive at Nationals, even though not as expressive and needs to work on SS but the technical content was there!

Look at that gorgeous lutz: https://youtu.be/_xO-iaroIws?t=52m7s (remind you of someone? :D)

Da Bin actually had a higher TS than So Youn but 10 points lower in PCS... Da Bin was totally clean while So Youn had a ton of shaky landings and a popped lutz. They had the same content too in terms of jumps, I think.

Thanks for the videos of Korean synchro. When is it planned to let a junior team compete internationally? Since there are several teams, is there a national synchro championships planned?

One of their Junior teams (team Angel) actually competed this season in Japan. I don't know what placement they ended up with but one of the coaches said they did very well for a young team. Anyway, I don't remember any synchro nationals planned this season but the Winter Sports Festival (the competition vids I link) could be their home championship....

edit: found their video in Japan! https://www.facebook.com/video.php?v=10102197122999768 they got 1st place

I hope she does b/c I think her addition to the senior team will fuel both Soyoun and Haejin's fire because she has been a bit more reliable in the TES side now that she's on a better footing with puberty. Nooowww, all we need to do is tap into what can wake up Dabin's artistic side. Does she like Kpop music? If yes, I have a list of nice piano covers that are suitable to be cut up and use. Or does she like dark, deep orchestra music that can help her bring out her frustrations and channel it on the ice?

Totally agree! I really liked her FS music though this year!

Da Bin won the Triglav trophy just now: http://www.neveitalia.it/sport/figu...av-trophy-nel-segno-della-coreana-da-bin-choi and was featured in the Italian paper.

good start.. now if she can move up to the senior competitions and challenge both so youn and hae jin.. hopefully she doesn't crack under pressure..

Yeah, it looks like she got 166 pts with a 3Lz-3T and a 2A-3T in long program. Her jump layout is very intense, but she makes them look effortless! Hopefully she will be polished and confident for next year, really crossing fingers. :yay:

Is Choi Da Bin moving up next season or do we not know yet? Her technical content is really good, she just needs to emote more (which I'm sure will come given time).

How old is An So Hyun again? Will she be eligible for juniors next season or is she still a novice? I really, really like this little lady and see so much promise in her. I'm wondering if she'll be old enough for Pyeongchang?
