I re-watched Murakami's SP again and don't see URs.. is it just me? Can someone tell me who the tech specialist is for the competition?

The Grinch. Even Shizuka Arakawa commented that she thought many of these girls' jumps were in the allowed 1/4, but that the panel was being especially "strict" (I don't even think it's being strict at this point, just unfair).

Wakaba may be unpolished but she is so exciting to watch. For me there is nothing boring at all in her performance.

Jesus, what was up with the Japanese tech specialist? First we had Amano, and now this?? Totally ridiculous. That said, anyone whose jumps aren't called by this tech specialist would not be called by another specialist of any other country, so I guess it might be a kind of very tough love. Imagine what this caller would do to the Russian skaters' jumps!!

Which is really, really pointless, because now the girls who get decent PCS internationally (Kanako, Haruka) will probably not end up being sent to Worlds. Ooookay. Hope they redeem themselves in the Free, for the sake of Japan's 3 spots.

Yeah, I replayed Kanako's jumps and the 2nd 3T was better rotated than the first. Zero doubt that it was within the 1/4 turn allowance (the 1st is actually somewhat questionable). The 3F was harder to tell but I wouldn't have said < given what I saw. Satoko's 3-3 didn't have a hook on the landing of either jump and I thought the 3Lz was probably OK, but the 3T (and I very rarely call out pre-rotation but hers is egregious) had the first 3/4 turn rotated with her toe pick still on the ice. Watch the Youtube video with HTML5 player and change it to 0.25x speed. Higuchi's 3T was clean to my eyes (bad camera angle though). I appreciate the domestic judges need to be realistically strict and yes, the UR calls have some basis in reality, but this is silly (so was the 2014 Worlds LP caller for that matter).
