I'm glad Guan Yuhang is going to 4CC. I really enjoyed his skate at CoC and I think has a lot of potential. Hope Han Yan is doing well health wise since it's a good chance for him and Zijun to get the momentum going before WC's. Wishing Team China all the best! :cheer2:

Since you mentioned him, I rewatched Guan Yuhang's CoC performances to brush up my memory. :p I didn't pay enough attention to him because of the collision between Yan Han and Hanyu in the event, but I have to admit Guan's quads and nice bladework surprised me. His PCS scores, especially SP, were lower than I expected, but given his lack of international exposures and spin levels, I can guess why. His career in international events is almost blank except three sparse occasions including his junior period since 2011. His spins are definitely the one that he has to work on but I agree with your assessment that he has a huge potential. Maybe Gusan can break through at 4CC, so we will see.

Sui/Han are obviously practicing it. According to the CBC crew during the 2014 Olympics, Peng/Zhang are practicing it as well (though take this with a grain of salt, since Irving/Lane/Browning don't always get their facts right). I don't know if we'll see the quad throws this season... maybe S/H could test theirs out at 4CC.

Where's Trankov when we need him?

I thought they couldn't do anything to top K/S's LP... but if the full program is as beautiful as the run-through, my heart seriously feels torn now...

The 4CC is over. Let's sum the final results; Congratulations to :cheer:

Mens:
Yan Han's nice comeback with the bronze medal after the horrible collision at CoC
Wang Yi's setting up his personal best score - 9th place
Guan Yuhang; though his jumps weren't successful, I really enjoyed his beautiful skating skills

Ladies:
Zijun's successful comeback to her phase in the ladies event. She is the bronze medalist in my eyes.

Pair:
Although the Chinese pair teams didn't sweep the podium, they did the great job as a whole!

Pang/Tong's successful comeback and touching performances with the bronze medal in pairs
Peng/Zhang's earning the silver medal earning
Sui/Han was 4th place.

Ice Dance:
Although the highest placement of the Chinese ice dance teams at 4CC is 7th place, that was a good progress considering the last year's placement, 9th
I also really enjoyed the EX by Shiyue WANG / Xinyu LIU.
Yue ZHAO / Xun ZHENG was 10th place

It's been a great 4CC for Team China. The pairs teams showed great quality (though I'm still crushed about S/H's combination spin) and Zijun and Han both showed character in how they came back from an unsuccessful season. Zijun is the bronze medallist in my eyes as well.

Thank you for making these posts.

yyyskate, all your links are forbidden for me. :(

Some of links are forbidden to me as well, but if you hits the URL in the address bar again, not push the reload button, you will see the image loading. It will work to you as well.

While he's not my favourite skater, I have such mad, mad respect for what Boyang did out there today. Three quads, a triple axel, two 3-3s, and pretty much everything done cleanly. He won the free, beating the eventual Junior World champion by almost 10 points in the segment. While the rest of the favourites made errors like a typical nervy men's figure skating event, Boyang brought the most difficult content of them all and was the only one who delivered everything he promised.

If this competition had happened several months ago, and he hadn't lost a lot of momentum due to inconsistency... Well, I think the outcome might've been different.

He still needs to work on the non-jumping side of things, but he's improved a lot since the start of the season. I was one of the harshest critics of his programs. But his LP actually isn't that bad, when he delivers all the tech content and ditches the green patchwork monstrosity. And there was a nice Ina Bauer at one point. :)

I hope Boyang stays healthy, and can soon put the whole package together. I'm really starting to root for him, and if he can put more conviction into his movements, work on the spins, ect. he will really go places.

What a nice appreciation from you! Boyang really proved himself today. While it is also a very demanding job to improve elements other than jumps, nowadays it is a big advantage for a skater with big jumps, so I think he can grow much from now. And we now have a fan fest for Boyang. :) :cheer:
