Miki Ando (Japanese: 安藤 美姫 Andō Miki) is a Japanese Ladies skater. She was born on 18 December 1987, in Nagoya, Aichi Prefecture, Japan.

She is the 2007 and 2011 World champion, 2011 Four Continents champion, 2004 World Junior champion, and a three-time (2004, 2005 & 2010) Japanese national champion.

Before she focused on skating, Ando tried many other activities such as swimming, ballet, playing the piano, calligraphy. Is that jump a 4S? If so, this is one of the best ones I've seen:

she did an interview for the Spanish website "Patinaje Pink Power". You can read the original English version by clicking on the spoiler button at the top.

Thanks calica!

She seems really devoted to her daughter:luv17:
And I totally agree, the child should be allowed to do what she wants, instead of having the parent's will imposed on her.
(Although Miki's daughter might have the gene to be a superb jumper)

I've read that article a few months ago and was very impressed with Miki. To be honest, her skating isn't something that resonated with me a lot. I know, she's a two time World Champion and a good technician, but the spark never happened for me. But as a person I really admire her and think she's extremely classy. To have a child out of wedlock in Japan, and to return to competitive skating after giving birth was just wow. I feel sad when I read how her self-esteem was very low, but I'm glad that she's so strong and happy these days.

Me too. I really like her personality and just watched the 2011 world championships. I'm quite new to figure skating and have a lot to catch up on:yes2:
