France's Vanessa James and Morgan Ciprès skated first in the second-to-last group. Their program was not quite perfect, but they also significantly increased its difficulty level. They had planned to land side-by-side triple toe-triple toe combinations, but she doubled the last jump. A throw quad salchow followed, and their three lifts received Level 4's. They earned 123.45 points for their free, a new personal best, and 185.55 points overall, also a personal best. The effort raised the team one spot from the short program to fourth place.

"It's getting much better," James said when she stepped off the ice. "We are the only team to have included a quad in our program here, so we're happy about that, even though I didn't trust myself enough on the second triple toe of our combination."

"We're taking risks. When we'll master them completely, they will pay off, for sure," Ciprès said.

They're making progress, they have done better than last year so they can be satisfied with their performances, despite the mistakes. :) I hope the thr4S gets better with time.

I hope they won't end up splitting like Sara Hurtado/Adria Diaz.

When I click on the link for their FS I see a video of their SP. Do you have a link to their FS? I've been looking for it but can't find anything.

not in the US. And no one has yet uploaded it to dailymotion, which does not generally enforce music copyright.

Thanks a million for your loads of work as always, doris! :thank:

They have an off-day sometimes, and on-day of course, just like every one of us. :)
Good luck to Vanessa and Morgan at the upcoming Worlds! :hap10::hap10:

Amazing programs by Vanessa and Morgan at Autumn classic (where they finished 2nd)
SP https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yLETVeEiepI Earned it by the Weeknd
FShttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MUEzqFOvAoY Sound of silence

Both programs are really beautiful in my opinion and they suit them really well! Credited(!) 4STh and Rippon 3FTh in the FS!! Vanessa struggled with 3sal in both programs but all other elements are really strong! I am so happy for them!

That Rippon throw is everything.
I agree, it was well done! :luv17:

I love how happy they were at the end of the FS and how the audience gave them a standing ovation.

They're close to breaking the 200 pts line. They can do it, their progress have been steady those last years. :)

Sad about their free skate. I hope they bounce back.

On another and disappointing note-the way in which Morgan treated Vanessa after the skate and in the kiss and cry was poor form. She was in tears and crying and he completely ignored her in anger.

I mean, yes, she was the one who fell and was struggling but it is a team effort nonetheless and responsibility needs to be shared. Even in dissapointment, you need to comfort amd encourage your partner- not act like a sore loser.

I hope Vanessa is not injured. That is a very ambitious, risky program they are doing.

yeah I totally agree with you, I love this team and their program very much but Morgan's attitude pissed me off.
I can understand the frustration but he could have AT LEAST waited after the KnC to throw his little child tantrum in private. And with that attitude, I am quite worried if they will be able to improve. Vanessa doesn't need this constant pressure and guilt trip from her partner. All the best pairs in the world deeply respect and support each other when they make mistakes: Volosozhar/Trankov, Sui/Han, Duhamel/Radford, Tarasova/Morozov... they never blame each other. That display from Morgan really turned me off so much and actually made me like the team less.
They decided as a team to include really really hard elements that even the best pairs like Sui/Han or the Canadians fall all the time on. If Vanessa falls on the quad and then is rattled for the rest of the program, it is not her fault only, it is very much Morgan's as well since they made the decision to go for it together.
