Shoma is still small but has a bright future once gets a consistent 3A
an explosive and mini Daisuke in the making. he will be up there with Yuzuru in the coming years
and he is very popular in Japan like Yuzuru

Thanks for starting this thread. I became a fan of his after watching this perfromance of his at MOI in 2013.
He needs to up his tech but my goodness he has everything else. He received Level 4 in spins and footwork
in both SP and FP.

YES SHOMA THE FUTURE OF TEAM JAPAN MENS FIGURE SKATING

Shoma is one of the few junior that really stands out! He has always had a great personality from the very beginning and really reminds a little Takahashi in terms of musicality! The only thing that worries me is his little figure. I don't know how much the judges can appreciate his performances since he's so tiny and everything he does is so tiny too... As long as he skates among junior it's relative but with the seniors the difference'll be bigger :eek:hwell: I see the same problem with the other japanese raising star Miyahara

Does anyone know if he's moving up this season? I'm hoping he'll stay junior for now and work on his 3A, I don't want him to get lost in the senior mix :slink:

well he hasn't been assigned any senior GPs, unless JSF uses their last NHK host pick on him. But it's very likely that the host pick could go to Keiji, so I think we can expect him to stay in juniors this season.

He's assigned to JGPs so far. But even if he goes to NHK it's only gonna be a one-time thing since he won't get a spot for 4CC and least of all Worlds.

I have to say I love his spins and the smooth gliding on the ice. He's channeling Dai a lot in this program and that's very cute to see but at the same time he has his own personal style.

Also, I looove his cantilever.

I don't know if it is my feeling only but he is looking on this video like young Yuzuru
I actually thought he looked a lot like Daisuke, especially just before doing the quad.

But that may be just me, because I see Shoma channeling Daisuke many times.

I have to admit I didn't expect to see such a good quad attempt from Shoma, especially knowing that the 3A is still giving him a lot of trouble. He probably won't put it in his programs yet but I do hope he manages to get a fully rotated and consistent one in the future. After seeing this, I've gotten high hopes for his 3A success as well.

Meanwhile, what he really needs to do is fix his flutz. It's the most important thing for him right now.

I'd say that Shoma's 4T looks more rotated than Nam's 4S right now. I cried tears of joy when I read that Shoma landed a quad in practice. Maybe landing quads will have a good effect on his 3As? Maybe he'll actually rotate and land his 3As??? I can only hope.
But yes, he needs to fix his flutz. Especially because I think the lutz is the required jump for the junior men's SP this season.

Ooooooh maaaai gaaado... Is Shoma practicing quads already? Looking at the vid, he's landing it almost. Wow! Ilia has done wonders to Shoma! Thank you, thank you, thank you, Ilia! And Shoma's grown up quite a bit, isn't he? Now he is probably the only skater who grabs my heart with its skate among the current J-boys after Daisuke. Good luck to him in the new season! :yay:

I don't know and dare not say for sure since Axel and Lutz are entire different matters to toe loop. Let's hope for him.
I am only thinking wishfully. He may be one of those skaters that never really get their triple axels down sighs. He's my hope for the future of Japanese mens and I want him to do well this season.

Wow I'm pleasantly surprised at his 4T. I was expecting it to be pretty rough, but that was pretty nice :)
