Another great interaction, this time with a Turkish skater. Shoma will become a linguist yet! :laugh2: Love the confused look and Stephane looking at them as if to say "What are you doing?"!

Google Translation:
"Not as good as pleasing your loved ones. My favorite Shoma Uno says hello to you.
I hope that one day you will meet with the person whom everyone is a fan of and inspired by ... In the meantime, I will draw your attention to those who pass behind, Stephane Lambiel themselves."

I love the way they give up trying to make him say "hello " in Turkish (?) and just tell him to say hi. He's so funny! He looks so puzzled!

If Shoma trained at Chukyo or Champery, you couldn’t see those Tweets.
We are lucky.:luv17:
He looked happy and didn’t seem like cardboards.:laugh2:
Shoma, you are loved by everyone and your smiles always make everyone happy.(especially fans like us).:love::love:

I was thinking this same thing! We need to enjoy this content now. Once they go back to Champery, I imagine we will have total silence again. In the meantime, this still shot with Stephane in the background is hilarious! It looks like photo bombing!...Shoma's smile and his sunny disposition seem to break down any language barriers.

Shoma briefly appears in a music video for Tokyo2020 sponsored by Toyota. He doesn’t look very enthusiastic but I bet he’s happy they didn’t make him sing anything  Love the second clip from practice

Seems like he's doing great now which is good to know.:luv17:

Sorry I'm late writing this but thank you vilya, rabidline, Arriba627 and SuYue Chng for taking the time to leave the nicest comments and everyone who gave it thumbsup because this time I really, really needed them. lol (And I thought that commentary video was tough)

And talking about "a culmination point," actually THAT was the exact word I wanted to use but failed to remember when I translated his statement for his withdrawal from 4CC the other day.

What I wrote was,
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
(I) want to show you the best I could do for the programs of the season at Worlds.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

But what Shoma really wrote was,
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
(I) want to show you the best I could do at Worlds which I hope will be the culmination of what I have been aiming at this entire season.
世界選手権ではシーズンの集大成となる演技をお見せできるよう精一杯頑張ります

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

So my apologies but hopefully you'd see it to be all the more reason to be looking forward to Worlds and cut me some slack there. :p

Thank you, and ha-ha, I didn’t know if I could possibly be more hyped for the Worlds, but a definitive pinnacle performance of those two programs promised by Uno himself... now that I think about it, after he had a chance to work on it himself, work through a tough moment in GP, then establish his cooperation with Lambiel... wow.

I think we can find it in our hearts to forgive you for that tiny error! All the more reason to be super excited about Worlds. I want him to just skate with total abandon and enjoy himself! Being on the podium would be nice too, of course. Only 65 more days!

I haven't been much active in fanfests lately so I'm completely out of the loop - can anyone please clarify some of the comments above, why we wouldn't see a video like the one linked above, with Shoma and the other skater, if it was taken at Champery? I thought Stephane's team was quite fan-friendly in sharing photos? At least I think so based on occasional Koshiro / Deniss news...

Yes, that's exactly it -- OCCASIONAL news. I can only speak for myself, but to me it seems like we have been treated to so many different photos that have been posted by people who are meeting Shoma for the first time in the Austria rink during the last couple days. I didn't mean anything negative by it, but I think once they get back to Champery, they will really get down to business again, just like they were while the skaters were training for their Nationals. At that point, hopefully we'll at least get a little bit of news. There was quite a drought for a while, and we were all dying to know how things were going.

Adding to what Arriba said above, the photos and videos shared from Austria are mainly from the adult skaters/teams coming in to Innsbruck and using the Ice Arena Telfs to practice for their Masters Competition. So not only Team Champery are not in their home rink where there is more privacy (or there are more people who are used to meeting them daily), the adult skaters/teams also don't really meet Shoma (and Stephane nor his team) every day, so to me I think it's understandable that they would love to commemorate such special occasion if allowed, and for Stephane to let them (he also obliged for some photos/selfies himself). For an example, the cute video of Shoma saying hi was a request by Naz Arici, an adult skater competing from Turkey, and was meant to be a birthday present for her friend Gözde, who she said is a big fan of him in Turkey.

I don't know if once they're back in Champery (after 27 January when the YOG has finished) there will be more content, but if I remember correctly, I'm pretty sure that in the weeks when Shoma went there, both in the summer, before Rostelecom, and before Japan Nationals, there was so little shared in social media, except from Itsuki's Twitter/IG. Even before Rostelecom the only sighting was him passing in Deniss' video interview. Before Nationals, except for the feature Japan media made for Shoma for pre-Nats fluff, the only sign that Shoma was in Champery was a lady tweeting that Shoma passed her during her yoga class

Thank you again taro! Also you must have worked so hard on translating all of those interviews to share them here, so please cut yourself some slack

This may sound weird but when Nationals was approaching and I was really wishing and hoping that Shoma will do well and be able to secure his spot at Worlds, I keep remembering your posts, lariko, and how much you want to see him. I'm so glad Shoma will be going to Worlds, and hopefully all goes well and you'll see him do great in person!

Thank you, Rabidline!

Great Spirit is a special pick-me up from the floor program, so seeing it life is going to be wonderful. I was so, so exhilarated to see him find the new vibe in the Nationals!

I’ve even packed the stuffed toys already, because I can’t wait to go. March is not so far away!

Thanks for explaining, Arriba and rabidline!
Skating aside, I have to admit I am very curious what being in Switzerland does for Shoma's English. If I recall correctly he mentioned some time ago he wanted to learn it, and this is a great opportunity for him.

What a great program.
It is a TV Asahi2 (pay TV) request special.(12th)
I can request my favorite Shoma or non-Japanese skater’s 5 performances.
But only from these competitions;
•GPS 2006-2019
•GPF 2005-2019
•JGPS 2014-2019
•JGPF 2014-2019
•WTT 2009, 2012, 2013, 2015, 2017, 2019
I’d like to request JNats and Worlds, but I can’t.
It will be on air on 23rd Feb.

If you can request, what would you like to choose?

For Shoma-related programs, definitely:
- 2014 JGPF Kreutzer (yes, Don Juan was the one to win this competition but I love Kreutzer A LOT)
- 2015 TEB Legends
- 2015 GPF Turandot 1.0
- 2016 Skate America Loco (and yes I know this one has a fall, and Loco has cleaner performances but I really love Shoma's attitude, never got tired of rewatching it)
- 2017 WTT Lavender
- 2017 Skate Canada Winter (yes, with the extra beat)
- 2018 Skate Canada Moonlight Sonata

So much has been posted that I'm starting to lose track of if this has been posted yet or not. Even if it has been, it is so interesting to see the program mapped out while he skates.

One more skater having her photo taken with Sho. I don't recall seeing it previously, but then we've had so many, maybe I'm just forgetting!

I would watch every Lavender and Loco possible! They are really my favorites. His Turandot 1.0 GPF is great too, especially if they show the Kiss & Cry. That is definitely Sho with the old face! It almost doesn't even look like him! I like all the Moonlight Shomatas too, but it seems he was usually having ankle problems when he skated that one.

Very difficult to choose!
