It looks like the 2 dance teams from the US will be Chloe Lewis & Logan Bye and Eliana Gropman & Ian Somerville, from.the Lake Placid qualifier.

It looks like Carreira and Ponomarenko did not try out, because Ponomarenko is just barely too young to compete.

Only one pair team eligible for YOG competed at Cranberry Open, which had the YOG Pairs qualifier, Rose and Goodpaster.

Men and Ladies qualifier is at Golden West, and will be held Sept. 2-6

From Russian pairs there is one more pair - Vygalova/Parkman are also the right age.

Alina Ustimkina / Nikita Volodin are also age eligible.

By the way are Elena Ivanova / Tagir Khakimov really listed as age eligible by the Russia fed because Elena was born in 1997 and therefor they are not age eligible. Unless there has been some rule change that I don't know about.

Elena IVANOVA / Tagir KHAKIMOV

Do you know what year she is born? According to their ISU page she is born in 1997 and as far as I know they can't be age eligible for the youth olympics if that Date of birth is right. This season is their first season and it is possible that her Date of birth in ISU is wrong and they are eligible for the youth olympics.

That makes sense. They would have been quite a late bloomers if they had done their debut JGP season only now at the age of 17.

His DOB is 1997. There is not that many pairs at junior level where the male and female skater would be the same age. Usually there is a few years between them.

It is weird that the qualifiers are so far ahead. A lot can happen in the next 5 months

Yes, that's true. But also, LPIDC is the biggest US dance competition, other than nationals, so all the top coaches will tend to be there, international judges and specialists, and top US judges and specialists. So you have everything you could possibly want, either as a coach or a skater, in a venue for a dance qualifier.

ISU has updated The Provisional Quota Places of 2016 YOG
So @sorenkay are right. Only medal placements at junior worlds receive 2 entries to Youth Olympics, not the top 3 NOCs placements.
(...)
PAIRS Total 7
China 2
Canada 2
Russia 2
USA 1
And on results of JGP Events in Pairs:

Ukraine 1
Czech Republic 1
Republic of Korea 1
(Norway probably has no Pairs, so does not pretend to Host Place)

Substitutes:
Great Britain
Germany
Italy

New ISU documents today:

YOG Entries/participation and the judges draw by number

16 Oct 2015 - Lausanne, Switzerland

Entries/participation and the judges draw by number for Single & Pair Skating and Ice Dance for the 2016 Winter Youth Olympic Games (YOG) which will take place in Lillehammer/ Norway on February 12-21, 2016 are now available in ISU Communication 1971 and 1972.

The link above has links to the PDFs for ISU Communications 1971 and 1972.

Do you know if Canada will send skaters this time ? They didn't in 2012.

Skate Canada will send one Pair. (Canada qualified for two pair slots.)

USFS will send one Ice Dance couple. (USA qualified for two dance slots.)

As the host country, Norway has the right to one slot per discipline -- if it did not earn a slot via normal qualifications.
Norway did earn one Ladies spot via the JGP.
Norway will use only its right to send one Lady.

As mentioned in the USFS YOG thread, the USFS assignments page now shows the following YOG entries:

Lewis/Bye
Rose/Goodpaster
Giang
Pulkinen

Too bad that Gropman/Somerville do not get to use the second dance slot.

I do not understand at all. They are a wonderful young team with tons of potential. (OK, Ian has issues with his twizzles). But they went through the qualification process with the understanding that there were two spots available. Why would they not be selected to compete?

Why is there such limited spots ? Many good skaters will miss out. Dont they have more than 24 skaters in olympics abd worlds??

According to Wikipedia.

Team Japan
Sota Yamamoto
Koshiro Shimada

Yuna Shiraiwa
Kaori Sakamoto

Apparently Higuchi wasn't interested in going and Honda didn't make it since she lost to Sakamoto at the Japanese Junior Championships. Honda was only 6th at the Japanese Junior Championships.

Anyway, are there other teams that has been announced recently?
