haha okay

thanks for the heads up!

Here are the five levels that you'll need to worry about.

juvenile
intermediate

Most anything else will apply to testing and lower level events.

Well, I'm definitely interested in who this Vivian Le is: will we see her in the JGP? Because almost 39 TES is not something to throw away!

Le turned 15 yesterday (July 30) and is assigned to the first JGP in Bratislava.

She landed 3Lz+3T+3T in winning the Aerial Challenge at Broadmoor Open in late June - a video is linked from her Team USA profile: http://web.icenetwork.com/skaters/profile/vivian_le

thanks S-S!

I'll be honest, I don't really venture out from the US's N-J-S levels. Nice to know more about the other lower levels!

anyway, good luck to your training mate, theskatingbutterfly!

Wow, thank you, definitely a talented girl! Any chance of seeing a video of her performance here?

Patience. IceNetwork will have the Junior and Senior videos up next week, as was mentioned several times earlier in the thread.

They sold the footage to the skaters at Skate Detroit and Lake a Placid so far this year. Not sure what that means for us. Regardless. Good to know we have a poster there at the event!

Thanks for quoting me....I accidentally erased that post adding a link :hopeless:

Yes videos are always sold to the skaters at GFSC, as well as most other competitions. You spotted our official videographer; Hurd Video Productions.

He is donating the Junior and Senior events to IceNetwork, on our behalf.

I know they've been doing this so long I feel like they should know by now!

Sorry but livestreaming is a money loser for the LOC, it impacts ticket sales as well as video sales. Sorry but these competitions are done to make money for the Club, which is then given to skaters of all levels, not just elite skaters, but also Syncrho, Adult, beginners, etc.

Because of the stature of the Junior and Senior events, we have chosen to go on-demand w/IceNetwork for free, for those unable to make the event.

Wow. What a generous gesture.
I certainly understand the club's need to make money to function. You guys seem to be such an active club!

Is it common for performances to be recorded and then sold to the competitors similar to how they sell pictures from the course of the competition?

Very common.

For those unfamiliar with the US competition levels below junior, here's the official outline of the required/allowed elements for free programs at each level:
http://usfigureskating.org/content/2015-16 Singles FS Chart v1 final.pdf

That'll give you a rough idea of what you might expect to see in terms of jump content.

Of course there's a wide range especially in intermediate between what you'd see from a skater just barely able to squeak past the test and from a talented young competitor aiming for National medals.

In general, the average quality of the double jumps (or triples if any) will improve with each level, as well as the quality of the spins and the basic skating.

There can be some excellent spins at the middle levels from skaters who have worked on spin technique and flexibility, and who are still small enough to spin much faster than they will by the time are full-grown seniors.

The wait for the senior women is agony. Another six hours before their event starts.

No need to apologize, crzesk8dad!
And thank you for your very reasonable explanation.
Ditto to everything Mrs. P. said.

I cringe when I read comments on GS that are overly whiny (as has been the case in plenty of other threads) ... as if it is our G_d-given right to have live streaming of everything ...immediate access to videos ... free access to everything ... non-geoblocked access to everything, etc., etc.

I prefer to see the glass as half-full whenever any one of those things is available to whatever extent it is.

Last year, IN had free video on demand only of the Senior events, AFAIK.
The addition of Junior events this year is something else to be thankful for :).
