Russian Nationals was not her cleanest performance, and they are just now adding a new ending. R&J is beautifully choreographed, the new ending should be spectacular. There is a lot of potential.
She won't be age eligible for Olympic year, she will have more time to improve her technique, and less exposure to the media. It might be a good thing. The issue right now is, they should do something with ther air position.

Amazing to see the growth of this RnJ program and in her skating in just a little over a years time!

https://youtu.be/VJ-pifIjbGo

This brings up an interesting subject, choreography that is not so musical (R&J last year) versus choreography that is very musical (R&J this year). Last year they changed choreography for each performance. It was like shuffling furniture around a room to get the right effect, they were never satisfied. Movement didn't match music in feeling or in notes nearly enough, there was a lot of empty arm waving, there was no clear message.

Sometime after the season ended they had an Aha! moment: the music is in four distinct parts. During the off season they shaped choreography into four sections, exactly matching the 4-section music. Each section portrayed a distinct stage of love just as we hear it. The transitions between sections were clear, each section had different movement. Everything fell into place, finally they achieved the tight coherence between movement and music that eluded them last year. R&J would be given another year of life, but this time as a smarter New R&J.

With this year's choreography she zeros in on the shape and emotion of every note. Her skating is focused, meaningful and musical, her performance moving and beautiful. And there have been no changes in this choreography. R&J is now a very special creation that connects smart music, smart choreography and a musically smart skater. Her improvement in R&J this year was 10% growth as a skater, and 90% clarity of choreography. Anyone interested in the 4-part structure of R&J will find details about that, and the mirroring of music and choreography in post #145 on page 10.

The music was not changed until preparation for the Russian Nationals. For the Nationals competition they tacked on about 30 seconds of repetitive music together with incomplete choreography in order to boost her score. Russian Nationals was a step backward artistically, but no doubt they extended the program with an eye toward future finals. There were hints of what is yet to come, thank you for the spiral, Nastya. They have plenty of time to develop choreography for a finale befitting Juliet's rapturous love. Just when we thought it couldn't get any better ....

A treat from delightfully versatile Nastya: http://www.pictastar.com/view/1325244059128086304

Nastya really needs to improve her jumps landings though. She has nice spring in her legs, but her body bends forward scarily too much. It must be corrected, this summer may be the last chance for that. :scratch2:

I arranged videos from last year so that I could take a closer look at progressive changes in choreography as the season progressed. The changes were often major. This must have made the season a nightmare for Nastya, often she appears to be improvising. But give them credit, they refused to accept mediocrity. Success was within reach by the April 4 Russian Championship, which had the basic structure that was then refined into the current version.

From 10 to 29 July 2017, Nastya's coach Angelina Turenko will hold a training camp in Courchevel, it is open to the public for registration. You can take classes from her or from the other coaches there - Voronov, Linda van Troyen (Jorik's coach) and Benoit Richaud. Nastya will be there too.

There will be other guests at the camp too.

What was she doing in Switzerland a few weeks back and more importantly what's with the bandage on her arm?

Ugh. Why they can't handle with this lutz/flip? All others her jumps is super clean. Her axel, loop, etc. Why they can't fix it :sad4:

They should send her to a jump coach, I have been saying this for long. Her SS and choreography are fine. But her basic Flip and Lutz are not.

I don't know anyone. Even Mishin with his young students like Nugumanova, Lozko, Kadyrova - has big problems with these jumps.

Eteri. The issue is... Eteri's group choreography is... :rolleye:
Sergey Dudakov then. I suppose he is head in jump trainings. What about choreography, I would say that Svetlana Korol (Nastya's choreographer) is the best I ever seen. Teach young girl to feel music and pay attention to any small detail - it's just phenomenal.

The issue is the rivalry inside Russian ladies field is too huge, I can't think of one good technician who can help her wholeheartedly.

Japanese coaches don't have that much execlent jump technique either. The thing is someone who can fix her technique, they do not need to be famous, just somehow clicks with her.
