Next competition for Daniella Ipsarides was Sofia Trophy in Bulgaria, results here:

http://clubdenkovastaviski.com/SofiaTrophy/SofiaTrophy-2016/NonISU/CAT002EN.HTM

Thank you so much, Liud.  :points:

I had seen photos of Daniella from the Sofia Trophy, but could not find her in the results. But now I know why - I was looking at the Entries / Results Page for the ISU competition, not realising that there was a separate Entries / Results Page for the younger levels. :palmf:

Curious how she was competing at Basic Novice Level at this competition when she normally competes at Advanced Novice. :scratch2: Must have stricter rules on ages in Bulgaria.

Bearing in mind that this was only a few days after the Sarajevo Open, and so she was still not fully healthy, Daniella finished 7th. BUT, she had no falls and was just 2.5 points behind the girl in 5th.

There were actually lots of girls representing Cyprus that I had never come across before competing in the even younger age levels. Including one girl with a very Irish name! (Must be an ex-pat). So, I will have to keep an eye out for her and the other girls in the future.

All the non-ISU results from the Sofia Trophy can be found here:

http://clubdenkovastaviski.com/SofiaTrophy/SofiaTrophy-2016/NonISU/index.htm

And next competition for Polina Ustinova was Olympic Hopes in Brasov, results here:

https://e6a6d83a214ea77865e67a50ad5...ltNlIzbDNEY1U/OLYMPIC HOPES 2016/CAT012RS.HTM

Mmmm. So Polina U had a fall in each segment. But, she still finished 2nd in the SP and 4th in the FS, which meant she won the silver medal!!! :cheer:

And I just spotted that Giorgia Isabella Secchi was also competing in the Junior competition. She finished 6th in the SP and 7th in the FS, which meant she finished 7th overall. Giorgia had one fall, in the FS.

Also, given that she is half Romanian, I am not surprised to see that Danae Hadjimitsi was also competing in Brasov, in the Advanced Novice competition. She was 2nd in each segment, and so won the silver medal. :cheer: She had 1 point of deductions for falls.

All the results from the Olympic Hopes can be found here:

https://e6a6d83a214ea77865e67a50ad5...PRFltNlIzbDNEY1U/OLYMPIC HOPES 2016/index.htm

:cheer: WELL DONE TO EVERYBODY, AT BOTH EVENTS!!! :cheer:

Thanks for the recent updates, Liud.  :points:

By the way, Daniela Ipsarides was also competing at the weekend. She was competing as a guest skater in the Greek Championships (for more, see this thread)

Results PDF (in mixture of Latin and Greek characters):
http://www.eox.gr/wp-content/uploads/2016/05/results-2016.pdf

Daniela was not included in the results table because she was a guest skater. But, she did very well in what was her debut competition at Junior level...

SHE WON THE COMPETITION!!! :cheer:   :party2: :points:

Daniela will again be competing at Junior level at the Cypriot Championships in 2 weekend's time.

I will update the results tables at the start of this thread after Nationals are over.

:cheer: ALL THE BEST EVERYBODY!!! :cheer:

Uhm sorry..
But I'm just being curious, can you win the competition without having any points? and how can you win the competition if you are "not included in the results"?

Daniela won because got the highest score in the competition. :agree:

But the score is not being published in the results sheet because she was there as a guest skater. She was invited to compete so that the local skater would have somebody to gauge herself against. Just like we had with the Cypriot Championships last season, when there were a whole pile of Russian skaters competing in the very young age levels.

For Daniela, doing the Greek Championships was a chance to have a trial run at doing a competition at the new level before her own Nationals. It is never good to have a competition that matters (such as your Nationals) as the first competition at a new level. You like to do another competition or 2 beforehand to get experience in competition conditions. But, with there not being any internationals in SE Europe at this time of year, this was the only opportunity to do so.

So, Daniela being there was was good for both girls.

Just to let you know that I have started a competition thread in preparation for this weekend's Cypriot Championships:

http://www.goldenskate.com/forum/showthread.php?59658

For handiness, here is the link for the Entries / Results Page:

http://www.csf.org.cy/national_competitions/2016/entries-results/index.htm

Really intrigued to see how the Junior Ladies competition goes, now that Giorgia and Daniela have moved up to join Polina.

I will be away in England for a motorbike race from this afternoon until Monday, so I will say this now:

Back from my travels, and one of the first things I did when I put on the computer was to look up the results on the Cypriot Championships.

I have written a summary of what happened in the following post in the event thread:

http://www.goldenskate.com/forum/sh...629-May-2016&p=1441288&viewfull=1#post1441288

But, since I already highlighted that competition in my previous comment, I will add here that the Junior Ladies did go the way I was kinda expecting it to...

Daniella-Vanessa Ipsarides won the Junior Ladies title at her first attempt!!!!!!

Two wins in her first 2 competitions at Junior level! This is looking promising...! ;)

By the way, the Entries / Results Pages for the past four editions of the Cypriot Championships are now back up on the CSF website, and can be accessed from the folowing index page:

Just a wee update on the first skater we saw representing Cyprus, Kristina Dubrovskaya.

Over the past few days, fellow Moscow-born skater Anna Ovcharova has been posting photos of Kristina to her Instagram:

Video of Kristina and Anna messing about using doggy filters
Kristina when she was a youngster

Now, here is the big news. Kristina is filming the video for her new song today!

Here are a couple of photos that Anna has posted:

Kristina lying on bed during filming
Kristina and Anna on a balcony (or is it the roof of a building?)

Can't wait to see it!

In the meantime, here is a video of Kristina singing a song I have always loved at her school concert:

"L-O-V-E" by Nat King Cole

Enjoy!

Some more photos (and a clip!) from Kristina's videoshoot.

Firstly, these were posted by fellow skater Anna Ovcharova:

Preview video clip: Kristina and some half-naked guy on the top of a building
Kristina and Anna in a suggestive stance

Now, some photos posted by the aforementioned half-naked guy:

Just going to use his own caption here: "Like a monkey"
One of the girls crying on the window ledge (Well, it's the same sandals that Kristina was wearing, but it looks more like Anna's hair colour)
Kristina hanging from a ladder
Kristina at the top of a ladder
Anna at the top of a ladder

Still trying to cool myself down after seeing that photo Anna posted 25 minutes ago of herself and Kristina! :drama:

OK, enough about singing and music videos. Time for some skating talk.

The provisional entry lists for the remaining Junior Grands Prix of the season have now been released, and Cyprus will be represented at two of the events.

Polina Usinova will be competing in the Cup Of Mordovia, from 14th – 18th September 2016.

Cup Of Mordovia Ladies Provisional Entry List

The Ladies SP will be held on Friday 16th at 11:00 MSK / EEST (09:00 BST / 08:00 GMT), while the Ladies FS will be held on Saturday 17th at 13:45 MSK / EEST (11:45 BST / 10:45 GMT)

The following week, Daniella Ipsarides will be making her Junior Grand Prix debut at the Ljubljana Cup, from 21st – 25th September 2016.

(Polina U. is also down as a substitute)

Ljubljana Cup Ladies Provisional Entry List

The Ladies SP will be held on Friday 23rd at 14:25 CEST (15:25 EEST / 13:25 BST / 12:25 GMT), while the Ladies FS will be held on Saturday 24th at 12:05 CEST (13:05 EEST / 11:05 BST / 10:05 GMT)

:cheer: ALL THE BEST GIRLS!!! :cheer:

Well, maybe we could have some more talk about music videos. ;)

Here is yet another roof ladder pic:

Anna climbing up ladder to Kristina

Shortly after my last post, Kristina and Anna travelled to Verona:

Kristina and Anna by the riverside
Video of the girls and the river
Kristina and Anna at their hotel garden
Kristina on Anna's camera

Not sure where this next photo was taken. The photo is tagged as Orenburg, but I don't know if it was taken there, or if it was just where Anna was when she uploaded it.

Kristina and Anna in front of a door

And this one (from Kristina's vKontakte) was not tagged:

Photo of Kristina being filmed on a scooter

I could link to lots more photos on Kristina's vKontakte. But, enough of the photos. Here is the finished video:

Кристина Дубровская- Полет не будет тихим

Enjoy

Just a wee reminder that Polina Ustinova will be competing at this week's Junior Grand Prix, the Cup of Mordovia.

The Ladies SP will start today at 11:00 MSK / EEST (09:00 BST / 08:00 GMT). So, an hour from now.

Livestream: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0B4ZaZ9vaWM
Time Schedule: http://www.isuresults.com/results/season1617/jgprus2016/jgprus2016_JuniorLadies_SP_TimeSchedule.pdf
Live Scoring: http://www.isuresults.com/results/season1617/jgprus2016/SEG003.HTM

Polina will be the 14th Skater to start, so fourth skater in Group 3.

The Group 3 Warm-Up is due to start at 12:29:40 MSK / EEST (10:29:40 BST / 09:29:40 GMT).

Polina is due to start at 12:54:40 MSK / EEST (10:54:40 BST / 09:54:40 GMT). But that may change if anybody before her withdraws.

Unfortunately, skating in her home country did not provide the boost I was hoping it would for Polina Ustinova. :disapp:

Polina finished 27th out of 28 in the Ladies SP at the Cup Of Mordovia yesterday, with a score of 21.41.

Results: http://www.isuresults.com/results/season1617/jgprus2016/SEG003.HTM
Video (whole competition): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0B4ZaZ9vaWM
Video (just Polina): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ENQ3Maa5dkg

But, there are 6 skaters that are less than 6 points ahead of her, so if she puts in a good Free Skate, she could move up considerably.

The Ladies FS is due to start at 13:45:00 MSK / EEST (11:45:00 BST / 10:45:00 GMT). So, about three hours from now.

Livestream: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=suTIpguUFUc
Time Schedule: http://www.isuresults.com/results/season1617/jgprus2016/jgprus2016_JuniorLadies_FS_TimeSchedule.pdf
Live Scoring: http://www.isuresults.com/results/season1617/jgprus2016/SEG004.HTM

Polina will be skater that kicks off the competition. She is due to start at 13:51:30 MSK / EEST (11:51:30 BST / 10:51:30 GMT).

Well, Polina Ustinova's Free Skate did mean she climbed up from her 27th after the Short Programme.

Polina finished 26th out of 28 in the Ladies FS at the Cup Of Mordovia, with a score of 36.90.

Free Skate Results: http://www.isuresults.com/results/season1617/jgprus2016/SEG004.HTM
Video (whole competition): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=suTIpguUFUc
Video (just Polina): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-P4VtrsWBaM

This meant that she finished 26th overall, with a total score of 58.31.

Overall Results: http://www.isuresults.com/results/season1617/jgprus2016/CAT002RS.HTM

Meanwhile, Daniella Vanessa Ipsarides will be making her Junior Grand Prix debut today at the Ljubljana Cup.

Hence my new avatar of her with Liza Tuktamysheva:

Full-sized version

The photo was taken when they both competed in the Sarajevo Open in February 2016.

And, here is some Fan Art that I made to mark the occasion:

https://scontent-lhr3-1.xx.fbcdn.ne...=2256c66b5f5825c4f02f6ebe88c01d90&oe=587A2FC7

The Ladies FS is due to start at 14:15:00 CEST (13:15:00 BST / 12:15:00 GMT). So, about 1 hour 45 mintues from now.

Livestream: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jhXmyNq-nys

Live Scoring: http://www.isuresults.com/results/season1617/jgpslo2016/SEG003.HTM

Daniella will be the 8th skater to start, so third skater in Group 2. The Group 2 Warm-Up is due to start at 14:52:20 CEST (13:52:20 BST / 12:52:20 GMT), while Daniella is due to start at 15:11:10 CEST (14:11:10 BST / 13:11:10 GMT). But these times may change if anybody before her withdraws.

Is Daniella Ipsarides or Ipsaridou? The way you spell it or the way its written in the isu profile?

Her last name seems to me to be greek and not foreign , so it is spelled Isparidou and you give the tone in ri ! But i think that greek people that go abroad turn their last names . Isparidou is in genitive ( grammatically speaking ) and if she has kept the greek one it is that. However , it could be possible that it is Isparides so you can pronounce it easier :p ^^ :agree:

I was waiting for this conversation.

Daniella's ISU Bio is the only place I have ever seen her surname spelt "Ipsaridou".

I first came across Daniella a few years go when looking up results from the Cypriot National Championships. And "Ipsarides" is the way it is spelt in the Cyprus Skating Federation's results sheets.

"Ipsarides" is also the spelling her Mum uses for her married name on her own Facebook profile, and the spelling she uses when referring to her daughter in photos, videos, etc.

So, that is good enough for me! :agree:

Incidentally, Daniella's Mum also uses the "-ides" form for her maiden name.

It's really confusing for us English speakers the way that names have different cases in some languages. And then there is the issue of variations in transliteration (Cypriot Greek tends to be transliterated slightly differently to Greek Greek).

If you look at the results and video from the 2016 World Development Trophy in Gdańsk, they have used yet another different version of her surname: "Daniella-Vanessa Ypsarides".

Also, nobody has mentioned it here, but there are also issues about her first name. When you see her name written in Greek characters, her first name is spelt Ντανιέλα (e.g. in the title of this video where she is interviewed on TV). But, in the Latin character version, it is spelt Daniella.

Now, this is not a mistake. Even though the Greek character version of her name is spelt with one lambda, the Latin character version of her name is spelt with a double "l" everywhere. On results sheets, on her Mum's Facebook profile, on her own Facebook profile.

When you see all these different options on how to spell her name on results sheets, it's no wonder that there is confusion! :drama:

Anyway, whatever you call her, things didn't go as well as hoped on Thursday. I had been warned that morning that she was very nervous, and you could see that as soon as she appeared on camera at the start of the Warm-Up. And that carried on into her routine.

You can't blame the girl. Like, this was her first ISU competition, and she had the added pressure of being the first native skater from her country to take part in an ISU competition.

But, at least she didn't fall. That was her main worry.

Daniella finished 35th out of 35 in the Ladies SP at the Ljubljana Cup on Thursday, with a score of 18.75.

Results: http://www.isuresults.com/results/season1617/jgpslo2016/SEG003.HTM
Video (whole competition): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jhXmyNq-nys
Video (just Daniella): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jese_Yj4sTk

But, Florencia Lin is only 1.90 points ahead of her, so if she puts in a good Free Skate, she could move up a place.

The Ladies FS is due to start at 12:20:00 CEST (11:20:00 BST / 10:20:00 GMT). So, about five hours from now.

Livestream: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mZ8gArR1yuk
Time Schedule: http://www.isuresults.com/results/season1617/jgpslo2016/jgpslo2016_JuniorLadies_FS_TimeSchedule.pdf
Live Scoring: http://www.isuresults.com/results/season1617/jgpslo2016/SEG004.HTM

Daniella will be the 3rd Skater to start. She is due to start at 12:40:50 CEST (11:40:50 BST / 10:40:50 GMT). But that may change if anybody before her withdraws.
