Dima plans 4 quads in his FS!

https://rsport.ria.ru/figure_skating/20170909/1125466311.html

I have only seen the crappy stream of his program and I understand it wasn't perfect (neither was any of the other men), but to me the quality of his skating is clearly on another level. The musicality and use of his body are unmatched by the other Russian guys. And if he can actually land those quads...well, I hope I won't be talking to myself in this thread alone any more, someday.

I think that now Dima is a senior a lot more people will notice him. Many don't really follow juniors.

I really like him, he's quite elegant and interesting. And such a fighter, I loved how he fought for that 4T-3T yesterday at the SP :luv17:

I was reading FS Gossips' translation of an interview with Averbukh after test skates, and let's just say he's not super impressed with Russian men's skating at the moment, but he did say that although Dima is not a medal contender right now, he is "a ray of light", which I thought was a great description.

Congratulations to dear Dima on third place in the SP in his very first senior GP ever! :yahoo: And without any senior B to warm up beforehand, and still some issues with his ankle to boot. What a fighter! :hap10: A few articles:

He looks positively regal in the new SP costume

Run-through of his LP:

The music cuts were changed and the second part is DeVotchka - "How It Ends." Not sure why they changed it but I really like this song.

Also, Jackie Wong (who is in Moscow) was raving about Dima's skating on Twitter. It's great that he is making such a strong impression already.

Dima talks about his performance here. I love his attitude & I'm very proud of him for doing as much as he could with his lingering injury. He showed real character and I think he is getting stronger mentally all the time. It was never going to be an easy competition for him, but he still did very well for a senior debut.

According to the second article, he was skating on anesthetic tablets...poor guy!

And I think he wins the prize for most beautiful costumes  They are both exquisite.

Interview with Rukavitsyn...I just love him!

https://rsport.ria.ru/figure_skating/20171021/1127514704.html

"Dima did not perform best in an arbitrary program, but I saw that he was training his character," Rukavitsyn said. "Not everyone would venture out to a tournament of this level in such circumstances, but he promised himself that he would perform - and kept And for that I'm not ashamed - the guy fought for every element, went for everything.Yes, the strength was not enough, but everyone understands why. "

Rukavitsyn noted that Aliyev, knowing he was not ready for the tournament, refused to simplify the program. "There were different opinions, including simplification of the program, but it would be a step back, and Dima did not want to go back, and Dima was determined to fulfill what was put in the program." If I simplified the program, I would show disbelief in And I believe in Dima for 100%, "- said the coach.

I know he still is not at his best, but the transition to seniors has not been easy for most of his peers this season either - look at Vincent, Cha Jun Hwan, Roman, etc. I want Dima to recover from his injury first and foremost and not push himself into further problems like some other skaters. Rome wasn't built in a day...

"Of course, Dima will compete for the Olympic tour at the European Championships and we plan to return quad lutz back to the programs." In fact, he himself said this. "If we want to fight for the Olympics, we must make a more complex set of jumps than at the Russian Championships, "Rukavitsyn told R-Sport.

And Dima is in Russian national team for European Championships:

One more interview:

http://www.sport-express.ru/figure-...rammoy-prishlos-podratsya-s-trenerom-1353788/

I didn't have the heart to update this thread after Nationals. I'm still upset about how everything turned out. Yes, I'm a big Dima fan but more than that I believe in fairness, and I also don't want him to keep skating injured like this. I don't want his career to end up like Adian's. I don't have any positive emotions about his debut at Euros knowing that he is pushing himself harder rather than taking the time to heal, and because Sergei absolutely deserved to go. If it must be like this, the only thing I can hope for is for Dima to beat Samarin, but I know it's very unlikely.

Do you know what would be ironic? If Dima actually beats Samarin at Euros but the Rusfed would suddenly use the body of work argument and send Samarin to Olys since he did better at the season overrall. :sarcasm:
