they need to win to be in final right? seems hard but not impossible

They don't necessarily need to win, considering the lesser amount of pairs events and that some of the teams ahead of them aren't doing the best placement-wise here or don't have second assignments (as of now).

It would be best to see the Czech team in the final to break up the usual Russian Junior Nationals.

Bardei/Oganesian won in Riga, so there should be at least one non-russian pair ;) But I also hope Czechs will do good enough to qualify for more variety ^^

Yeah, lol, definitely Oganesian/Bardei will be there. But I always love when a non-dominant country qualifies a team to break up the usual JGPF Russia/China/USA/Canada/Japan stranglehold.
