"Shocked...No other way to describe it... I couldn't have possibly asked for better training or practices. I guess it's just one of those freak things that just sort of happens. Sorry guys. Ill give it another go on Sunday "

Since it's guaranteed that he won't be assigned to Worlds, I sincerely hope he has a brilliant long program now that there's no more pressure.

I was really hoping to see him in person again in Montreal :( But he had a successful season overall and hopefully this competition will be a good learning experience for him going forward!

So was I. :sad4:

I also hope he learns how to handle the pressure better for the next season. Roman is the Canadian champion (that's music to my ears! ), and that title comes with expectations. Skate Canada has even less faith in him now, and no doubt the officials are patting themselves on the back for making the right decision to not automatically give Roman the sole Canadian men's spot to Worlds. He has to compete better in the future, otherwise they'll continue to promote other skaters over him (and even do things like delete his Nationals interview from its YouTube channel).

Shame about 4CC but overall he's had an incredible season! He has a lot to be proud of and I'm sure next season will be even better. :)

Well, he may be the Roman Emperor of Canada, but on the senior international stage, he's still a relatively inexperienced Princeling who has much to learn about managing his nerves. Still, he has accomplished a lot this season, and I hope he'll gain the confidence to fully blossom into the sublime skater that we all know that he's capable of being. 👍

At least he's smiling in this snapshot: https://twitter.com/SkateCanada/status/1226358175332368389

Handsome photo of Team Canada: https://twitter.com/SkateCanada/status/1226490669344022530 Roman is taller than the male pairs skaters. :p

Roman took over Skate Canada's instagram today! Most of it was similar to his quarantine life vlog (though he did include a zoom class with students he coaches, I don’t think that was in the vlog), but he also answered some questions.
What's it like being on the national team - 'I mean to be honest it's pretty great to be on the national team, I think just knowing that you're in the top 1% of figure skating in Canada, feeds the ego pretty well'
Favourite program hes skated - 'Now that's a really hard question, it’s like asking which one of your kids is your favourite kid, right, so I don't really have a favourite program. If you're watching me skate, whatever I'm skating in that moment is my favourite, because every program I put so much time into, and I'm so invested in it emotionally that every program is good, I like it *thumbs up*'
Why he took out the quad toe - 'Good question and I'm flattered that you even noticed that. Basically, because of an early season injury, I couldn't practice it as much and I wasn't getting consistent clean programs with it and the risk vs reward just wasn't worth it for me.' He also wrote that he plans to bring it back.
How many eggs does he eat in a week - 'I probably clock in like around 20 eggs a week I'd say, think that's a reasonable number'
Who is he closest to on the national team - 'That's a tough question, I’d say a lot of us are pretty close considering how much we room together and go to competitions together and travel but if I were to choose one person, I'd probably have to say Trennt Michaud'
He also was asked if it was grated cheese on a picture of his lunch. Not the most interesting question, but if I'm writing down the other answers I may as well do this one too, lol. 'Honestly, I don't mean to be judgmental, but eating grated cheese to that degree is a LITTLE too much. They were grated carrots.'
How old was he when he first landed a triple - 'I was 10 years old when I landed my first triple, and it was a 3s. And fun fact, I landed my 3s before I landed my 2a. But I landed my 3a before my 4s, so, the more you know.'
What was his first skating costume - 'My first skating costume was black pants and a red turtleneck from Gap. I was on a budget.'
Favourite and least favourite jumps - 'I mean, if I put it on a scale, they're all about on the same level, but if I had to choose one recently my favourite has been 3a, missing doing that, 100%. And then a little bit lower on the scale is probably 3lo.'

He also is presenting three awards in a virtual awards held by Skate Canada, he said he found it hard to read off a script. He doesn’t know when the video will come out though.

Roman posted this update on the film festival he participated in on instagram:
"Well I didn't get into the top 5, but I got into the top 20 and an honourable mention for my short film. There were 1952 submissions so I'd say I essentially slayed it. Thanks @mattih for the opportunity. Gonna go back to my usual YouTube videos, soon! Once I get a replacement for my broken microphone 🙃"

Counting down the days 🤔📅 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bv05p0qTa1k
Some highlights from this vlog: he's growing out his hair, he's not going to do a figure skating meme review because he didn't know the memes were about other skaters that he personally knew, he's really into BTS and is trying to learn some of their dances, and is eagerly waiting for rinks to open back up.
