Looking forward to seeing Vincent’s fabulous 4 Lutz – 3 Toe with the arms aloft (as the Eurosport commentators say) again at Worlds.

The Icenetwork commentator in the 2018 US Figure Skating Championships remarked: One of the best elements I’ve ever seen done in figure skating by anyone ever!
SP 20.90 – the second highest point total for a single element this year +3 GOE.

Does anyone know who has the highest point total for a single element?

I wasn't too keen on his music this season.... too slow, dreary, and dreary for a young and exciting teen. How about something fast paced without lyrics. Vincent seems quite mature for his age, so how about something classical with depth, like the Pathetique Sonata. I know Malaguena has been overused but it's exciting and well suited for skating too.

I really enjoyed Jun-Hwan Cha’s SP to Don Quixote Gypsy Dance. Something uptempo with zest and vibrancy. Takahashi’s Sonatina for Violin in C sharp minor would be good, also.

Oh, boy, this is hilarious! Not posting this in Nathan's thread as some of his zealous fans may not take too kindly to the jokes. I think it's hysterically funny and Vincent would probably get a kick out of it, too. :laugh2:

"When your moms are really good friends, but you don't have anything to talk about."

Someone responded: "Ha. There's another where Vincent just looked over at Nathan who was playing with his phone and it was like every bad first date."

I watched the competitions on a Russian live stream which did not include any of the green room scenes. Did anyone catch it?

This is how the conversation went in the green room. Please don't take offense, as this is just in humor and fun:

Nathan: Man, I hope my Quadtastic long program will put me up on the podium even after the disastrous SP.
Vincent: Hmm, Nathan, your redemption LP was really awesome. What did you think of my Quad Lutz-Triple Toe?
Nathan: Please don't talk to me, I am praying....
Vincent: O-okay, I understand. If you need support, I'm here for you.
Nathan: Thanks, but I've received over a million tweets of support already. Now let's hope everyone else bombs.
Vincent: biting lip

:rofl::rofl2:

I saw that meme going around twitter too and it cracked me up. Nathan and Vincent looked like a couple of bored kids at Chinese school waiting for their parents. They cut to the green room a bunch of times once the men’s FS coverage started. It was the most camera time Vincent got on the regular NBC coverage, unfortunately. I’m too lazy to multiquote but the Fox News bit was mostly citing viewer outrage from the east coast that Vincent’s SP was not shown, it was the top google news hit for Vincent the day after the SP.

Regarding programs for future seasons, I too think a classical program would be fitting to showcase his long lines. Once his PCS is improved and reputation better established something using traditional Chinese instruments could be a good choice for Beijing.

Vincent and Nathan should have interacted more in that green room, I was waiting for that moment.. But that picture is hilarious though.
BTW, @Zenchio63 you are welcome to post stuff like that in Nathan's FF.

Agreed! super super angry at NBC completely ignored Vincent..That kinda conduct never happened to any athletes in any other countries. NBC own Vincent an apology. tbh

As for USFS, I do not have a good impression about them as well, especially after experiencing 2018 US Nationals.

Thanks, here is a different scenario.

In this US Figure Skating video, https://youtu.be/EiGeM27_PuQ
Little Vincent gave a shout out to his hommie, Nathan, at 0:11

Forward to 2018, the most important event of both of their lives..

Awkward silence....

In a make-believe world, Jason Brown jumps into the green room, all smiles, and hug both Nathan and Vincent, congratulating them.
“I’m so proud of you guys!”

In comes Adam, pushing Jason aside. “Hey, you are not supposed to be here!”
Jason: “I know, I sneaked inside Alex Shibutani’s luggage. I just had to cheer everyone on!"
Adam: “I’m the proud parent and I should be the one to congratulate my sons! Come here, boys, let’s do a group hug.” They huddle.
“My all-American wonder boys, I’m so proud of you two!”
Jason: “Aww!”, sobs in joy.

I just took their silence in the green room to mean they were both exhausted. They both put everything out there that they could and for different reasons would probably also be emotionally drained at that point. I did lol at the memes though :laugh15:

Vincent at Worlds

In the World Champs prediction thread, the general consensus have Vincent finishing 5th place. Without Yuzuru, Javi and Patrick, the other top men will come out even stronger. In the words of Vincent (from last year's Ice Talk interview): “…regardless of who I’m competing with, I still have to skate my best. If my competitors skate well, awesome. If they don’t skate well, I mean, I don’t wish that on any of them, the competition will go how it goes and I will skate how I skate.” The mindset of a true competitor.

Now that Vincent has the Olympics under his belt, I hope it will give him more confidence and assurance to go out there and perform a clean skate on his SP, especially the quad flip, and knock it out of the park the same way he did at Junior Worlds last year. May the best man win! Rooting for you and hoping you get on the podium, go Vincent :cheer:!

"My second Asian son will kick some butt at Worlds! Don't underestimate him!" :agree:

Why do they assume 5th place? Presumably they have Nathan, Boyang and Shoma ahead, but who else? Kolyada? Anyway, I'm not so much about the placement but would rather see him perform his best. Seeing his reactions to performing as good as he could versus when he was disappointed with himself (like in France:() has made me realize that's all I want. OF COURSE the higher the better but that automatically comes with him performing his best.

always liked Vincent's mentality towards competition, that is to do the best of your ability regardless how other do. also never get the so-called father-son stuff from Adam. it always felt weird (actually disgusted) to me and he is not entitled. Both Vincent and Nathan are only their parents' sons. Their parents are the only people who has sacrificed so much for them, supported and lovely them unconditionally throughout their whole life.

You're right. They must have been physically and emotionally drained, and probably very hungry. Finally had a chance to watch the men's FS at the Olympic Channel and made some screenshots of the green room scenes.

With Kolyada

FYI, Kolyada has been nicknamed the Pineapple King (last name sounds like Colada), thus the joke. But I know Nathan wouldn't want to drink

Hi, yyyskate, sorry you felt that way about the joke :scratch2:. It's the American sense of humor, started by Andrea Joyce's "Team Dad" comment, not to be taken as a sign of disrespect to our boys' real parents. But I understand where you are coming from as a Chinese. No more Adam jokes. I just really liked that picture :p

Seems like a lot of people predict either Kolyada or Aliev to be in 4th place. I just want Vincent and everyone else to skate clean and perform their best, especially if they didn't get a chance to do so at OG. Placement is also not important, as long as Vincent is happy with his performance. But a podium finish would be so good! :yes2: Here are some screenshots I made in tribute to Vincent's OG performance:

Wait till you see my jump repertoire: https://i.pinimg.com/originals/4f/e2/7b/4fe27bbe30fd3427ecca99411e669a10.png

I'm going to bring it on at Worlds! https://i.pinimg.com/originals/47/96/fe/4796fe719bb22a1f91f45163ed139ee8.png

And no offense to Boyang fans, but this just popped into my head while watching the green room scenes

I'll find some good screenshots of Vincent's happy reactions in the Kiss&Cry and add them later on.

I lived in the states long enough, I rarely heard jokes like that, and American sense of humor can certainly do much better than that, Also that joke has been milked long enough by Adam.

This dad/son joke is funny joke to me, I don't see Adam did anything wrong here. I agree that may not be everyone's cup of tea.

Oh and this kid casually called other people "dad", I am sure his papa was all heartbroken at home to hear this :)

 Thanks for the good laugh!

Here's Vincent thanking his "dad*" for the Gudetama stuff toy:

Love that smile! Didn't he weep on Tammy's shoulder once he got off the ice? Tears of joy and elation. Can't wait for the same reaction at Worlds.

*I knew his dad wasn't there, just making a joke to tie the theme ;)
