I just turned the screen on and managed to see them (M&J) live. According to interview they sound to feel like they had win when they got the place in FS. They might not have expected it.

Viveca Lindfors did well in the junior Worlds SP today. Not perfect, but very good all the same. She looked happy at the end.

She is 10th going into the free skate - I hope she can hold on to that position and earn two places for Finland next year! It won't be easy though - Tsurskaya will surely overtake her, so she in turn will have to overtake at least one other skater...

    Thanks in advance.

Anni is not there . They have earlier selected some skaters, for ex. Jenni this season, in base of the management of the previous season. Does she skate any more at all?

I noticed her absence also. I haven't seen any news about her recently but I think she is still recovering.

    This is really interesting news.

To bad for Simonen obviously but I see a lot more potential in Efimenko/Penasse than what I saw in Simonen/Penasse even though they did great considering this was their 1st season. Anyway, really looking forward to see how Efimenko/Penasse will do next season. I always liked Liuba and I always thought she could do well in pairs.

OT, just noticed Beata Papp is competing for Miss Finland title. http://www.iltalehti.fi/viihde/20170...41535_vi.shtml

Simonen and Penasse just annouced they will split and already Penasse is skating with Ljubov. Lluba would be a good pair skater, but I am not sure about Penasse. I was happy we had a pair, but they lacked chemistry, it was easy to see. It would be nice to have two pairs and some competition with them. It is good to level of Finnish pair skating.

Has anybody heard anything about Ljubov&Matthew -- are they planning to compete together this following season?
I just tried googling & checked their instagrams and Matthews's twitter (Ljubov doesn't seem to have twitter?). There are some pics of them doing lifts etc, but that's about it.

Also, they are not listed as being members of Team Finland the following season (only singles skaters, ice dancers and synchro teams are mentioned on Taitoluisteluliitto's web page) while Ljubov's name still appears as one of Team Finland singles skaters. Is she still planning to compete in singles, too? If not, is she going to be able to able to use her "singles funding" for her pairs training? (Don't really know how the bureaucratic side of the things work...)

I admit I'm mentally preparing myself for Finland missing out on Olympic spots again, but at least Viveca has the chance to skate her programs at an international competition close to home three weeks before Nebelhorn.

They have been assigned to Volvo Open Cup (early Nov) and Tallinn Trophy (late Nov). If they are ready to make their debut already in Oct they will skate at Finlandia Trophy also.

Not that many well know skaters here but Turkkila/Versluis will skate here among others.

I was looking for junior skaters' including Sofia Sula's JGP programs found it and also found something cute while looking for those. Because she is born in December, Sofia is probably 8 years old in this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lmxE6aiNxD4

Speaking of Sula, she has replaced Viveca in JGP Italy. She did well at her 1st JGP event and with clean programs she could score pretty close to what Finnish senior ladies have been scoring this season.

It was a wonderful news that Finland got a GP event next season but I was a bit disappointed that the Finnish Fed reserved 2 home spots in ice dancing only. They should have took 2 spots in ladies also since both Viveca and Emmi are competitive skaters. But maybe Finnish Fed weren't allowed to take 2 spots in ladies event because otherwise it doesn't make sense to me since both Emmi and Viveca are more competitive skaters internationally than the 2nd best finnish ice dance team, Turkkila / Versluis, who will most likely get the 2nd home spot in ice dancing.

It is also interesting that finnish fed reserved one spot in pairs even though as far as I know Finland doesn't have a pair at the moment since Penasse retired. But then again maybe Liuba has a new partner already.
