Oh please tell me what are they saying about Mika wel the gist of it - I won't get a chance to listen for a while - thanks!
The usual. They adore his Carmen and his jump technique and think he should be challenging to be one of the top men in the world. They are also firmly on the "going to Raf will fix everything" train, which is understandable considering they don't know about his health problems or financial situation. Most dramatically, they said he should be Hanyu's biggest competition, which is obviously a stretch  I don't regularly watch TSL, but it's entertaining to see how they've turned into total fanboys over him.

Many thanks!
Amazingly, they are much kinder to Mika than his compatriots who are out with pitchforks at the first sign of trouble. I must say I feel more respect for TSL now!

Lets not be all doom and gloom maybe he will be made to rest now before starting training for Rus Nats and it will help - he is young and strong -

Enjoy your holiday!

I actually don't think it's that much of a stretch. He's a guy that can crack 100 in the SP with one quad, and deservedly so. That's a very short list.

On the subject of going to Raf though it is the last thing I worry about now, and yet 1) climate of California could be just what he needs
2) money is a problem but I believe if one really wants something things could happen:
Raf could give him a few hours a week coaching younger skaters thus offsetting his fees
Mika could overcome his dislike for shows and earn some money that way
RusFed could fund him at least in part (after all he is allocated some funds when he is training in St Petersburg)
They could think of it as a wise investment into future Russian men's skating - Mika will bring all his experience and give it back when he will become a coach

I think it would be difficult but not impossible
I am dying to know if Raf and Mika met and if so was it before the LP - I have a feeling it was

I keep trying not to think about the Raf/Cali scenario because it is so unrealistic and likely won't give us the desired results anyway....but Raf keeps feeding the dream with these interviews and I just want Misha somewhere warm and sunny :drama:

Raf and Nathan are training at CSKA at the moment, taking pictures with Kovtun and TAT, among others. I imagine Misha is already back in SPB, but I really hope he got to speak with Raf beforehand.

Like I said, crowdfunding is not hard and finances don’t need to hold him back if he doesn’t want it to. He has enough of a profile that he can easily raise any money he needs for training through donations but there are those who have too much pride to do that and idk if he’s one of them or not. There’s other factors at play that are more significant, finances is one of the easier things to settle IF he wants to

I find interesting that Raf didn't really criticize Misha or Valentina and their training regimen, not even suggested anything different. In fact, he's been defending them this year, which I think has to count in relation to the environment that Valentina cultivates for Misha to skate at home. I think that has a lot of weight in Misha's mind. But also, Misha seemed less emotionally compromised at the end of the FS than I thought he was back in Helsinki, which continues to point to the fact that there are health problems involved and they most likely are a lot more pressing than the psychological aspect, and I hope they can address those now.

It is very difficult to find a good HNO doctor (in my experience). I hope they get the support of the federation (i mean here not material but more a recommendation, a big specialist has the program full in advance for some months-) to see one of the best specialist in Russia and if this doesn't help to go outside. He has to be careful with the medication and first get the approval for it. I don't know if they are restriction here or everything he would need can be allowed, does any here know? I also hope that this medication doesn't go like those for allergic rhinitis who can make you very sluggish.

That what fans' frustration comes from seeing him like this:sad21:

Uouuu reading all your opinions there are no much ideas to add. It was nice to see him landing that quad and the combo but then the nightmare began again and when he finished he was exhausted,. Also when he began and the camera focused his face I saw a dark shadow below his eyes; Is just worrying. It frightens me everything it is said about his health but I wonder: people around him, team, family, partners, Russian Fed medical staff..... I guess they can see the same problem as we fans see it, so... Maybe he is stubborn but not unconcerned guy, so it’s supposed he is going to get on with it.
Tutto you are so maternal... ( not the only one of course and please don’t get anger with me ) I also think it would be great if your advices could arrive to him. But I need to believe that people who are next to him, knows he needs all kind of health care, don’t they realize about it? Gonna stop cause my head will explote.
Then, I liked his answer “I’m not going to tell you” when he was asked about his plans to the Nationals, ( I think I’m not confused). Under my point of view, he should be simply cutting with press when they bother him. I like Rafa’s words perhaps he can give good advices to him.
Fresh air and frivolities: wasn’t he in the banquet? Love his smile during gala exhibition, love his stunning blue eyes, loves how he skates his artistry. I also like the “cat” pictures and also the one when Japanese fans throw him that big fluffy bull ha, ha. It’s so funny!
And now waiting for Nationals. Best of luck, care, love and support to him.

Its the first time I noticed that Misha is having such a hard time.
I hope he gets the help he needs. It would be so bad if such potential is not cultivated.
And his injury, it heals well.

Ha ha why should I get angry? My son, who is just a few years older, jokes that I care more about Mika than him :)
I am a bit angry with myself though, the only other skater I was so emotionally invested was Sasha Cohen, after she retired I made a promise of never going that road again and kept my word for nearly 10 years (a few skaters made it very difficult though - e.g Caro & Tatsuki) until I saw Mika at CoR 2015!
But my nerves are not what they used to be, so I need to step back a little I think for the sake of MY mental health ha ha

Those toys Mika got from fans are awesome, especially the bull and the bear in handmade toreo costume

There is also a lovely story on Mika's VK about his namesake, Kolyada, who is a playwright and actually a very distant cousin or something of Mika - they never met though. He is a big fan and send some lovely presents to Mika, also his theatre is coming to SPB in February and they even might meet in person. The original source:

Ignoring journalists makes it worse, because their job is to write something and Misha is preventing them from doing their job. He should at least try to say a couple of words after each skate, even a bad one. To put it bluntly, they don't have to be sincere. The problem is to know what those words are.

It seems to me he's been quite good this season at giving 'correct' answers (obviously except for Finlandia Trophy) - 'I made several mistakes. I know now what I need to work on' ... etc etc

He's been ignoring journalists after the SP. It's better not to. And it's advisable to remove "I am not going to tell you" and "It's a secret" from his vocabulary. There are more diplomatic ways of not telling what you don't want to tell. But of course that won't be enough by any means to suddenly make journalists love him.

I wish people would grasp that nobody appointed Misha #1 and he didn't give a solemn oath to win everything. He became one by virtue of there not being anyone better. If there is someone better, he'll come and take that #1. It's that simple.

On a slightly different topic, there really needs to be an injunction forbidding TAT from engaging directly with skaters, particularly male skaters, at all times. She jinxes them.

I honestly think that at this stage it doesn't matter what he says the media will not be treating him any differently, the Oly Team SP will be attached to him forever And the very fact that there isn't anyone better drives them mad as RusFed & media have to put up with him whereas they would rather drop him like a hot potato if or when someone better comes along

I wonder if it is my imagination or the deluge of comments from everyone who is anyone in Russian FS on Mika's CoR performance was not quite as bad as I expected. If so I only could think of one reason - his health problems were made known to the RusFed?

TAT should be forbidden from FS full stop

BUT I noticed that we here keep jinxing him- we talked about how stellar his 3lz - he messed it up, we 'celebrated' no pops on his 3As this season - here we go:a pop in each program at CoR ???

As Valentina is with Stanislava I just hope someone had a sense to lock Mika at home or even better check him into a hospital
