Wasn't expecting to see this thread appear yet!

Right, since there are so many comments already, I'm putting this up as a placeholder. Because I want to make sure my Eurosport schedule post is on the first page of the thread for easy access.

With the way Eurosport changes their schedules so frequently, there is no point making out the post until the week of the event. And by then, this thread may be 3 or 4 pages long!

Update: Firstly, thank you to Doris for promoting this to post #2 in the thread. I really wasn't expecting you to do that!


It’s been so long since I did one of these that I forgot the order I do them in!!!

2 weeks is a long time in sport, you know!

Now, there is a bit of a discrepancy. The Dutch say that the Ladies Free on Saturday is being shown LIVE, whereas the Hungarians say it isn’t. Yet it is on at the same time on both channels! But, I had a look at the timetable for the championships, and it is NOT LIVE!

Depending on what country you are in, the reason for it not being shown LIVE varies between equestrian and football!

Speaking of Hungary, their coverage of the figure skating is again suffering at the expense of football. There is NO coverage on Friday night AT ALL! And whilst there are highlights of the Short Dance and Pairs Free the next day, there are no highlights of the Ladies Short. And, as I have already hinted at, football is the reason that the Ladies Free is not being shown LIVE. But, at least there are highlights for the FS, unlike the SP.

ESP Hungary and ESP Deutschland are not showing the Saturday evening repeat of the Pairs Free highlights because of LIVE Equestrian. But, it is due to be shown a couple of times earlier in the day, so no need to panic.

In Germany, the only other major difference is that their Monday night highlights package of the event is due to be half an hour shorter than elsewhere due to LIVE tennis being shown before it. But, we all know what tennis is like. So, the skating might end up not getting eating into after all… or else it might end up not being shown at all! Either way, the highlights are being shown lots of times during the week, so no need to panic here either.

ESP France as usual has a lot of changes. The first is actually an extra showing of NHK Gala highlights before the LIVE coverage kicks off on Thursday night.

Most of the changes are on Friday. There are extra showings of the Men’s and Pairs highlights mid-morning. But, the major change is to the LIVE coverage on Friday night. It is on Eurosport 1 in France instead of Eurosport 2 elsewhere.

Apart from that, the other changes are to the highlights after the event is over. A lot of them are not being shown, while Tuesday afternoon’s is being shown half an hour later than elsewhere (for no obvious reason!)

As YesWay has indicated in their comment directly below, British Eurosport have the best skating coverage of all the versions this week. Not only are they showing highlights of all the GP’s in the run up to the final, but they are the only version that is showing ALL of the Free Skates LIVE.

Not only that, but British Eurosport is the only version showing ANY coverage of the Gala on the TV channels! And judging by the length, they probably won’t be cutting too much out. (It will be shown LIVE on the Eurosport Player)

However, a warning. On Friday, Saturday and Sunday, all the skating is on Eurosport 1 rather than on Eurosport 2.

There are also other changes to the highlights on after the event is over. So, for these and all the other changes, see the list below.

Incidentally, it looks like British Eurosport will be doing the same as they have done the past few years, and showing highlights of the GP Series during Christmas week. A showing of Skate America on the Monday came up on the search, but the full schedule for that day is not up yet.

Not to steal CaroLiza_fan's thunder... but coverage on British Eurosport is looking good (for now)... :-D :-D

No juniors, but all the senior competitions are scheduled to be broadcast live.
Gala is not live though, 2 hours of highights on Sunday instead.

I wonder if there will be an ISU stream for the juniors, like there was for the other events in the series?

I think we'll forgive you for that. This time.

Whereas coverage on British Eurosport may be really good, it's not actually that great on Eurosport 2 in the Netherlands. The ladies FS is not live, and I don't see Ice Dance FD listed at all. Nor do I see anything resembling the Gala. In fact, there is nothing on Sunday at all.

Stupid question:

I know only that NBC's live coverage of Skate America and U.S. Nats has caused delays in uploading of IN VOD.

(I am not an IN subscriber. But in case I ever contemplate subscribing, would like to understand what IN does and does not do.)

In past years, IN did not put up its on demand coverage until after NBC aired its first coverage, whenever that was. I am not sure what this year's process has been, because the NBC coverage has been live. We get to find out this time what this year's process will be.

Still confused.
Other than for Skate America, NBC's coverage of GPs has not been live.

So for example:

For 2015 NHK, the live competition was completed by mid-day on Saturday (U.S. time).
And the NBC taped coverage of NHK aired the next day (Sunday) mid-day.

Do you happen to know when the IN VOD of NHK was uploaded?

It was the same day the event was live. IN VOD never goes up super timely, but it will be up within a day. So you can't really tell if the NBC coverage is within 24 hours of live whether the timing was affected by an on purpose delay rather than just random delay.

When you say 'past years', that includes last year? NBC had their 2014 GPF coverage on 12/21, although the comp itself had concluded on 12/13. Are you saying that IN did not post any on-demand content from 2014's GPF for over a week, until NBC aired their coverage?

(I don't recall that being the case, but maybe my memory isn't accurate.)

Good point, sabinfire. Here are some data:

2015 Skate America:
- Oct 27 is the date-stamp on the IN video of Group 2 of the Ladies FS at 2015 Skate America.
- Oct 24 is the date that the Ladies FS actually took place. The delay in VOD was announced in advance b/c NBC had aired Group 2 live.

2014 GPF:
- Dec 13 is the date-stamp on the IN video of the Ladies FS and Men's FS at 2014 GPF.
- Dec 13 also is the date on which the Ladies FS and Men's FS took place.

So .... fingers crossed that IN similarly will not delay uploading of 2015 GPF VOD.
