Nebelhorn Trophy Pairs SP: Results; Protocols

Thank you to @La Rhumba for uploading the video!

Zoe and Chris finished 15th out of 16 in the SP, with a score of 44.90.

That skate was so beautiful. And you couldn't escape how meaningful it was.

To me, apart from Zoe having a hand down when landing a throw, it looked faultless. Unfortunately, when I looked at the protocols afterwards, I discovered that there was actually a major fault. Their Backward Outside Death Spiral was invalidated. And this proved costly to their score.

They are currently 4.65 behind Golubeva / Giotopoulos Moore (AUS) in 13th, and 3.97 points behind the Crafoord twins (SWE) in 14th. So, it is highly probable that had the BoDS not been invalidated, they could be a couple of places higher. They are 4.85 ahead of Hernik / Wozniak (POL) in 16th.

Being realistic, 13th is probably the position they should be aiming to finish up in. However, if they put in a really good Free Skate, a Top 10 finish is possible.

So, we will have to see what happens tonight!

:cheer: WELL DONE!!! :cheer:

The Free Skate kicks off today at 20:00:000 CEST (18:00:00 GMT / 19:00:00 BST). So 10 hours from now.

They will be the 2nd partnership to start. So, second partnership to go in Group 1.

The Group 1 Warm-Up is due to start at 20:00:000 CEST (18:00:00 GMT / 19:00:00 BST). So 10 hours from now.

Zoe and Chris are due to start at 20:14:10 CEST (18:14:10 GMT / 19:14:10 BST). So 10h 14m from now.

But, those times may change if somebody that is due on before them withdraws.

You're welcome! I've uploaded Zoe & Chris's FP too. (y)

Thank you, @La Rhumba. I know I can always rely on you. Your dedication to the British skaters puts the Federation to shame.

:thank:

I'll use it in this FS report. (At least you don't cut off any seconds either side like other uploaders do).

Although I watched the first group LIVE, I didn't want to write a report until I saw the rest of the segment and, hence, knew how things played out. Which, I did yesterday. Meaning that you guys unfortunately had to wait until now.

Nebelhorn Trophy Pairs FS: Results; Protocols

Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pDILG7PgE8Y

Zoe and Chris finished 15th out of 16 in the FS, with a score of 84.22. This meant that they remained in 15th place overall, with a score of 129.12.

There were only 2 big issues that were noticable to me, and both of them came towards the end of the programme. On the Throw Triple Loop, Zoe had a double hands down. And on the next elment, the Throw Triple Flip, she fell on landing. Apart from that, there were just little things here and there, like being out of sync.

Here is what I wrote in the competition thread:

Ah, they're using the same FS as the last couple of seasons.
Different costumes, I think.
Always thought this was a beautiful programme for them. You can tell it has a lot of personal meaning for them.
And although there was the odd mistake, they performed it beautifully.
I hope they have done enough to climb up some places.

Unfortunately, they did not climb. In fact, there was very little movement at all in the second half of the field. The only significant change was that the Australian partnership that had been a position above Zoe and Chris in the SP moved all the way up to 8th after the FS.

Zoe and Chris did not qualify for the Olympics either. But, with only 3 slots available in Pairs, it was always going to be a long shot. I really do not understand why the Pairs competition at the Olympics has only 19 slots. It should be like Worlds, where every country's Federation has a slot available to them, provided that the partnership using it meets the minimum TES requirements. And that any additional slots are allocated to countries on the basis of recent results.

Nevertheless, they did us proud.

:cheer: WELL DONE!!! :cheer:

Thank you @CaroLiza_fan for your kind words, I really appreciate it.:thank:

I totally agree with your comments. Why do they restrict who can go to Olympics? They should just make it 24 entries in each category, as it used to be. The Olympic spirit is giving people the chance to compete.

I am totally with both of you @CaroLiza_fan and @La Rhumba. I think it's a shame there were only 3 spots in pairs available, quite apart from an experienced couple like Zoe and Chris not making the cut. Sure, it was a long shot (just as it was for the Dutch pair), but I still don't get why the IOC decided there could and would be only 19 competitors. I am a big fan of Zoe and Chris (they deserve great respect after having a year with almost no training), and it's a real pity they won't be there. Don't get me wrong, I am not discussing the placement (though 15th was rather harsh) but I am discontented with the low ranking of pairs on the IOC agenda. So low, that they could just delete a couple from the total (as they did with Ice Dance) to ensure the number of athletes would go down. Yuck!

With not looking at the entry lists since they were released, and not making out my predictions until now, I had completely forgotten that Zoe and Chris will be competing at Skate Canada. :drama:

Skate Canada Pairs SP: Results; Protocols

No video uploaded yet 😞

Zoe and Chris finished 8th out of 8 in the SP, with a score of 48.80.

I didn't want the Pairs LIVE last night, because I haven't seen Skate America yet and I was worried that SImon would give away what happened. So, with this in mind, I only watched Zoe and Chris on the archived livestream this morning, and didn't watch the rest of the segment.

I've said it before in my Nebelhorn SP report, so you know how beautiful I think this programme is.

The only things I noticed were a hand down and some issues with keeping synchronised with each other. Otherwise, it looked fine to me.

Although they wearing masks, you could see that Zoe was disappointed when the score came up. Yes, it is nearly 7 points lower than their absolute PB from the Bavarian Open back in February. And about 2 points lower than they scored at Europeans a couple of weeks earlier. But, it's 3.90 points higher than they scored at the Nebelhorn last month. And it's 0.88 points higher than they scored at their last GP, 2019 Skate America. And it's practically the same as what they scored at the last British Championships in 2019. So, it's not all that bad.

As it stands, they are 8.45 points behind the Canadian partnership in front of them, Lori-Ann MATTE / Thierry FERLAND. So, it is probably too big an ask to expect them to climb up places. However, they have already considerably improved their Season's Best Score for the SP, so the focus should now be on doing the same for the FS.

:cheer: WELL DONE!!! :cheer:

The Free Skate starts today at 13:00:00 PDT (20:00:00 GMT / 21:00:00 BST). So 10 hours from now.

Well, as it turned out, Zoe and Chris withdrew. And so did the Russian partnership, which meant that only the Aussie partnership was left.

The organisers of the Ice Challenge have not been on the ball this year when it comes to updating the Entry Lists and Start Orders to reflect withdrawals. On top of this, the livestream and the live scoring were not working for either the Junior Pairs SP or the Senior Pairs SP. So, the first anybody knew about the withdrawals was when the results were uploaded.

I hope there is nothing wrong, and that it is simply the case that they decided that it was not worth travelling all the way to Graz for an event where the Senior Pairs competition didn't even have the same status as the rest of the Senior categories.

Hope to see them soon.

Just wanted to let you know that Zoe's twin daughters were competing at Intermediate Novice level at the British Championships today.

British Championships Intermediate Novice Ladies FS: Results; Protocols
British Championships Intermediate Novice Ladies: Results

ZARAH WON THE GOLD MEDAL AND ZINIA WAS 4TH!!!

:cheer:   :party2: :points: :hb:

Zarah finished 1st out of 30 in the FS, with a score of 39.02.

Zinia finished 4th out of 30 in the FS, with a score of 35.93.

Although I haven't seen the programmes, I did see some screenshots (thank you to our own @La Rhumba). And, oh boys, but the twins are the picture of their mother! 😲

In addition to the twins, Zoe and Chris also had two more students competing in this competition. And they finished in 2nd position and 6th position. So, 4 skaters in the Top 6, including a 1-2.

Talk about a very successful opening day for Team Jones / Boyadji.  :points:

As for Zoe and Chris themselves, their British Championship campaign doesn't start until Saturday afternoon.

:cheer: WELL DONE GIRLS!!! :cheer:

Happy to share here too. :ghug:

Thank you. I would have linked to them myself, but I wanted to be sure that you were fine with the posts being shared here.

You know, seeing as they are old enough now, I will make additional Fan Fest posts at the start of this thread for the twins. After all, this thread was originally created to be a Fan Fest for Zoe herself. So, after it expanded to include her partnership with Chris, it seems fitting to let it expand again to include her children! ;)

Zoe and Chris will be in action again this weekend in the British Championships.

The Senior Pairs SP is due to start at 14:30:00 GMT. So 8 hours from now.

Zoe and Chris will be the 3rd and last partnership to start.

However, since there are no Time Schedules for this event, I have no idea what time they are due to start.

But, those times may change if somebody that is due on before them withdraws.
